Knotalotta Acres

Started in 2013 with the goal of producing our own food. We proudly raise rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and bees, as well as garden.

We technically began our journey in 2010 with the hopes of having a successful garden. We harvested everything from corn to beans and herbs to lettuce. It was decent, but we both learned a lot from that first garden. In 2011 we had a little more luck with our produce and we added a flock of chickens. We built a chicken tractor and they spent much of their time grazing in the yard. However we had b

igger plans for them. In 2012 we moved the garden to a larger part of the yard, and let the chickens have that space to roam. We also added some guinea hens and ducks to our flock, which we later decided wasn't such a good idea and traded them for some bantams. In 2012, we harvested 400+ pounds of produce. Yet again we had bigger plans for the following year...

This year we have added meat birds (cornish X rocks), and are adding Black Australorps, Auraucanas, and White Orpingtons. We are trying to produce our own meat chickens for a whole year. On top of adding meat chickens, we also added some Flemish Giants, Anne and Henry, who produced a litter of 7 on 1/23/13. We are hoping to crossbreed with either Californians or New Zealands for a smaller meat rabbit. Our other goal for 2013 is to produce 800+ pounds of produce. So join us on our journey of trials and tribulations. We hope to inspire everyone in our approach to a more simple, self sufficient life. We'll be doing everything from butchering our first rabbits and meat birds, canning and food preservation, producing heirloom fruits and vegetables, cooking with our produce and home grown meat, and everything in between.

There are 4 loaves of plain organic sourdough.
Gigantic 4 oz chocolate chip cookies!! Only 5 available, but there will be more tomorrow!
Also pepper and tomato plants, candles, luffa sponges, tallow lotions, and quail eggs.

A few pics from around the gardens this morning.
🥀Our irises are blooming and I do wish that they lasted all summer, they're so beautiful 😍
🍓Strawberry season is right around the corner, and hopefully we'll be drowning in strawberries this year!!
🦟 And a little yard art that we found at a garage sale over the weekend. Made with a meat grinder part, a handle from a mixer, and wire heaters for the wings. It is the only mosquito voluntarily allowed in my yard 🤣

We are open 11 - dark every day this week.

We still have lots of tomato and pepper plants.

We stocked Luffa Gourd seeds this afternoon. We will be starting seeds today to have seedlings available soon as well.

We are open today only from 11-6

Lots of tomato and pepper plants available still. We are sold out of Lilac and Jimmy Nardello peppers.

Luffa Gourd sponges. Precut packs for $5 or whole (cut to your own desired length) -$7-$15

Our 12yo daughter is trying to make some extra cash. So she gets 50¢ from each plant and all of the profits from the luffa sales.

We also have lots of candles and Lavender Vanilla Tallow Lotions. There are still plenty of free sample of the lotions too.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. We will be open again next Wednesday!

We are open on this lovely, cool day 🌞

Tomato and pepper plants are out. I have the varieties listed with descriptions. I still have to pot up the Cherokee Purple and Big Red Cherry tomatoes. All plants are $2 each.

Our daughter is trying to make some extra spending money. So she cleaned and processed all of our luffa gourds from last year. Which was not any easy task. I'm so glad she powered through the 25+ gourds we had...I would have quit halfway through 😆 There are whole gourds or pieces available. She also helped with the plants, so she'll get a cut of those too.

We will be open from 10 - dusk today, tomorrow, and Friday, Saturday 10-2, closed Sunday-Tuesday.

The garden beds are officially all cleaned up and ready for the year!
Here's what has already been planted and has started growing-
Kennebec, Yukon gold, & Red Norland potatoes, bush beans, snap & shelling peas, danver carrots, red, yellow, & white onions, garlic, spinach, and beets. The rain yesterday did amazing things for the garden. What was barely there yesterday, came to life over night 🌱
I took advantage of the deeply watered soil yesterday and sowed kohlrabi, turnips, rutabaga, calendula, marigolds, zinnia, and dahlia seeds. I also sowed sunflowers and wildflower seeds around the garden perimeter. I hope it will look as beautiful as I have it pictured in my head 🌻🌾🌸

Good morning 🌞

We will be open today as soon as the rain storms roll through.

There will be lots of sourdough available at the stand today.
