Hello Wheaten fans. Although retired, I'm still looking out for all the pups I've placed over the years. Unfortunately, I'm posting again hoping to find a new home for a now 9 yr old male. If you look back to my post on Jan. 1, 2024 you will see this is the second time I'm asking this for him. Last time his family decided to try to make things work without rehoming him but now they have had a second baby and so here we are again... His most recent health reports show nothing concerning regarding health issues. If you or anyone you know might be interested in helping out the boy please do contact me either by private message or my email at [email protected] and I will be happy to share more information. I will try to get more recent pictures but for now will repeat the sweet one from last time.

Hope you readers had a good Holiday Season and Happy New Year to All!
Unfortunately and sadly, with my New Year comes the need to re-home an adult dog that I placed in his current home as a puppy. Albus is 7 yrs old, neutered male and is up to date on vaccines. Last year's health testing showed no issues and I am awaiting the results from his testing a week or so ago to confirm that Albus currently has no health issues. He is located in Anchorage, Alaska and the hope is that a Wheaten experienced home can be found near there or without him having to travel too far. However, if the best home for him requires transporting, it is possible.
Since his current owners feel Albus is not adjusting well enough to the addition of a toddler in the home he needs a new home without young children. A home without other dogs to possibly add to the difficulty of Albus adjusting to his new home and people would also be preferred. Albus reached age 7 without other children or pets in the home but was well socialized with them over the years.
If anyone reading this is interested or knows of someone who may be please feel free to visit my Glenamon Wheaten Terriers page and message me for more information.

FINAL EDIT: UPDATE SAT JULY 29- Annie is on her way to her new home with a very Wheaten experienced retired couple. Seems a perfect match for all. Thanks to all for your concerns and assistance. Sherrie

EDITED to add a picture and the info that Annie is from one of my breedings and was placed in her current home in 2011.

Female Adult Wheaten located near Tacoma WA needs new home. Sadly, due to the sudden death of Annie's owner we will need to find a new home for this 11 yr old girl, hopefully within the next couple of weeks. I have requested health records, and any other history from the deceased's daughter and should know more in the next couple of days. Anyone looking or knows of anyone looking for an adult wheaten please let me know by response to this post or private message.

Adult Female Wheaten Needing a New Home.

UPDATE: Maray, now known as Ginger, has found her new home and is settling in nicely. Thank you to all who inquired and spread the word for her!

Hello Everyone, I hope my suggestions to like and or follow this page means that this message goes out to you too. In any case.... Happy New Year to All!
I have started this new year trying to help National Wheaten Rescue find a home for a 3 yr old female Wheaten currently located in Ellensburgh, WA. This poor girl, now called Maray, began her life penned up and producing puppies from what we were told was a Back Yard Breeder. Rather than spend the time and expense of treating a severe uterine infection and possibly having to spay this girl he suggested the veterinarian just euthanize her. Instead the vet decided to take take the newly named girl home with her to live temporarily, be treated and eventually spayed.
The veterinarian reached out to National Wheaten Rescue to transfer Maray over to the organization to find a good home for Maray. After six week in the vet's home the transfer was made this last Wednesday evening and we are beginning to put the word out that Maray will be available for adoption once she has been evaluated to help determine what kind of home may be best suited for her. So far the person currently caring for her says she is "very sweet" and friendly. The vet said she likes children as well as adults. Her potty training has been going well and, with careful watching and crating, there have not been any accidents in the house for quite awhile. Having started her life as she did Maray had some of the behaviors one might expect of a dog kept outside a household and raised for breeding only. The vet said she has made great progress with adjusting to a home with her children and other dogs and Maray's new family will be getting a "wonderful dog". She indicated that Maray was friendly, playful, likes people and has shown no aggression to anyone. She is not so sure about other dogs but will be further evaluated to determine if Maray should be in a "no other dog" household.
Her new family will probably still have to continue helping Maray learn how to adjust to her new life and be prepared to keep her secure, since when frightened her instinct is to flee.

Maray is currently in good heath with lab testing results and vaccinations records available. She will continue to be evaluated for behaviors that will tell us what home she would be best suited for.

So, anyone who has read this far and is interested in Maray please go to the National Wheaten Rescue website to fill out an application. Click the Forms tab at the website:

UPDATE 2/20/21: WORD HAS COME TO ME THAT THIS GIRL WAS PLACED IN A NEW HOME. CONGRATS IF IT WAS ANY OF YOU FOLLOWING. SHERRIE

A NW SCWTCA Breeder has put out the word that a 26 month old Female Wheaten in Seattle Washington needs a new home here is the info she provided that includes her email.

Cindy Lilley ([email protected])
I have had a lot of requests for puppies but no takers for adult dogs and reaching out to see if there are any homes out there looking.

Over last weekend I went to Seattle to assess a 26 month old female I need to place.

My assessment:
A bit hyper reactive to strange noises. Likes small dogs but big dogs she doesn’t like. Prefers males.
Took her for a walk. She does well. I passed by dogs and strangers and she didn’t pay any attention.
My introduction went well and we shared an elevator with a stranger without any reaction.
She has “allergies”. I am not convinced since what the owner describes is itching however I could smell yeast on her and had the owner start giving her acidophilus and bath her in dandruff shampoo.
She is petite and about 26 #. I think she needs a thunder shirt as she was buzzed short due to mats and it’s chilly out.
I think she likes the owner though I don’t think she adores her.
She needs a home with people around all of the time. I think a male smaller dog would work well with her as she likes most small males dogs.
Probably not small kids at first as overall she has opinions and needs an introduction.
She is crate trained, perfectly behaved in the house and house broken.
I like her. Sensible temperament.

Please let me know if anyone pops up.

Cindy

UPDATE FEB 5 - We have found a wonderful home for Seamus that I feel will provide all the love, care and training he needs and deserves. Thank you to all who inquired and passed the word about Seamus.
5 yr old neutered male Wheaten available. We have been contacted to inform us of the sudden death of the owner of one of the dogs we placed when a puppy. He is currently in a kennel in Portland, Oregon and I am trying to get more info on his situation and history to best determine what homes may be the best fit for him. Anyone currently looking for an adult Wheaten may contact me by private messaging here or preferably by email to [email protected] . More info and hopefully a picture will be posted when available. This was Seamus as a puppy....

Since purchasing our first Wheaten in 2001, twenty years of involvement in raising, showing and breeding Soft Coated Wheatens has passed. We continue to love this breed and do not regret our decision to choose it for this hobby that we have spent so much time and labor on.
This year, 2021, we are announcing that Glenamon Wheatens will no longer be breeding and will not have puppies available in the future. Should the rare occurrence of having to rehome one of the dogs I have already place come up, I will post a notice on this page. You are welcome to follow or like the page for any notifications.
While concentrating more on other activities and hobbies now, I will continue to try to maintain this page for updates and notices regarding the dogs we have produced and hope our owners will feel free to keep me updated here about their Furkids.
Those who come here looking for a Wheaten to add to their family should check out this breed's national organization's website at scwtca.org It is a great resource for researching the breed as well as how to locate a careful and responsible breeder that should be following the SCWTCA code of ethics with their breeding practices as well as health testing and certifications. It also has info about the contacts for our Wheaten Rescue representatives. At that website you will be able to locate a list of members and breeders for each state. Both SCWTCA and SCWTCA Rescue also have pages.

Best to all, and stay safe and happy. Hopefully with a loving Wheaten at your side.
Sherrie & Scott Amon
