Adult Female Wheaten Needing a New Home.
UPDATE: Maray, now known as Ginger, has found her new home and is settling in nicely. Thank you to all who inquired and spread the word for her!
Hello Everyone, I hope my suggestions to like and or follow this page means that this message goes out to you too. In any case.... Happy New Year to All!
I have started this new year trying to help National Wheaten Rescue find a home for a 3 yr old female Wheaten currently located in Ellensburgh, WA. This poor girl, now called Maray, began her life penned up and producing puppies from what we were told was a Back Yard Breeder. Rather than spend the time and expense of treating a severe uterine infection and possibly having to spay this girl he suggested the veterinarian just euthanize her. Instead the vet decided to take take the newly named girl home with her to live temporarily, be treated and eventually spayed.
The veterinarian reached out to National Wheaten Rescue to transfer Maray over to the organization to find a good home for Maray. After six week in the vet's home the transfer was made this last Wednesday evening and we are beginning to put the word out that Maray will be available for adoption once she has been evaluated to help determine what kind of home may be best suited for her. So far the person currently caring for her says she is "very sweet" and friendly. The vet said she likes children as well as adults. Her potty training has been going well and, with careful watching and crating, there have not been any accidents in the house for quite awhile. Having started her life as she did Maray had some of the behaviors one might expect of a dog kept outside a household and raised for breeding only. The vet said she has made great progress with adjusting to a home with her children and other dogs and Maray's new family will be getting a "wonderful dog". She indicated that Maray was friendly, playful, likes people and has shown no aggression to anyone. She is not so sure about other dogs but will be further evaluated to determine if Maray should be in a "no other dog" household.
Her new family will probably still have to continue helping Maray learn how to adjust to her new life and be prepared to keep her secure, since when frightened her instinct is to flee.
Maray is currently in good heath with lab testing results and vaccinations records available. She will continue to be evaluated for behaviors that will tell us what home she would be best suited for.
So, anyone who has read this far and is interested in Maray please go to the National Wheaten Rescue website to fill out an application. Click the Forms tab at the website:
