This Mars Volunteer Program (MVP) Month, our Associates have been stepping it up! 🙌 Many of the volunteer events start with a spark from our Associate Community Champions - they see a need in their area and find a way to make a big impact with our resources and spirit. 🧡

In San Antonio, TX (photos 1-4), Adrianna Martinez, veterinary technician at , led and organized our largest preventive care clinic this year. 🎉 This drive-through vaccine clinic - in partnership with  - helped 955 pets(!!) with over 20 Associates who volunteered, including some who drove from Austin to support.

In Watsonville, CA (photos 5-9), Mychael Sanchez, practice manager at .sanjosesilvercreek, wanted to help the Latinx migrant farming community with a free vaccine clinic, knowing there is limited access to veterinary care. 💉🩺 The event helped 250 pets and their families - 90% of whom spoke only Spanish, and some drove from as far as 2 hours away to connect with this accessible petcare.

These extremely impactful events - and so many more this month - began with our Associates' passion, and we're thrilled to support such important outreach! Thank you, Adrianna and Mychael, our many Community Champions, and all of the Associates who volunteered their time and skills to this community and pets in need. 👏

As we wrap up this week, remember that our volunteer opportunities continue all year long! 🧡 Check banfieldgivesback.net for events in your area to join in our .

Grab the tissues — Cooper’s story is a special one. 🥹

When Team met Cooper in July, he’d been abandoned and was sleeping on the porch of a kind, elderly woman. She saved up to bring him in for his first visit, wanting to get him veterinary care but worried about costs on her fixed income.

Thanks to a Optimum Wellness Plan, Cooper got the care he needed — including baseline diagnostics that revealed he’s FIV positive. With the plan provided for Cooper, it gave his new owner the confidence to keep him and bring him indoors, safe from the streets. 🏠

“She got choked up when we signed them up. She was so happy we could help,” said practice manager Cassandra Turnier. 🫶 “We love the Foundation plans. They've helped several seniors on fixed incomes and other clients in financial need."

Now, Cooper is cozy in his new home, is scheduled to be neutered next month, and will keep getting the care he needs. 🧡

For 10 years, has made stories like this possible. Here’s to a decade of impact and many more to come! 🙌

That’s a wrap on AVMA 2025! 🌟 This past weekend in Washington, D.C., we joined veterinary professionals from across the country at the AVMA Convention for days full of connection, collaboration, and learning.

🦷 Dr. Carl Winch teamed up with Mars Veterinary Health’s Dr. JoAnn Morrison to present on antimicrobial utilization in veterinary dentistry, sharing insights that are critical to advancing responsible care.

🎉 .h_banfield welcomed this year’s Diversify Veterinary Medicine Coalition’s AVMA Education Grant Recipients, celebrating the next generation of veterinary leaders.

After the devastating floods in central Texas, the call went out for animals needing to be evacuated from the flood zone - and Team and fellow Associates in the San Antonio market didn't hesitate to act!

Over the weekend, in true style, our incredible Community Champion, Adrianna Martinez, LVT (and practice manager at Banfield Bandera) mobilized a team of volunteers in less than 12 hours to help local shelters make room for the evacuated pets. 💪

With 15 volunteers over 88 hours, we were able to help:

📋 Complete over 110 exams
✈️ Clearing those pets for transport
📍 To shelters in CT, PA, MA & NJ
🤝 In partnership with Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter and San Antonio Animal Care Services

Adrianna, who previously served as an animal care officer at ACS, used her deep community ties to build a partnership that made this mission possible. Though she’s not in the photos (she was behind the camera!), her leadership was front and center.

“It was tough, but it wouldn't be disaster relief if it was perfect!" she shared about the effort, which was more than worth it to see the results.

More volunteer opportunities will continue in Texas. This is what Banfield Gives Back is all about - a community of Associates and ready to jump in where it's needed most. 🧡 Thank you, Adrianna and Team Bandera, for showing us the good we can do together!

🎉 More good news from our – this year, 12 of our amazing Associates have been chosen to embark on Mars Ambassador Program (MAP) assignments around the world! 🌍

As part of Mars, every Banfield Associate has the opportunity to apply for MAP, the signature Mars program that pays Associates to share their skills with nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and abroad and give back to communities where it’s needed most.

Our 2025 Ambassadors were selected to join an incredible variety of meaningful projects, from reef restoration 🪸 to building children’s gardens 🌱 - and of course, lots of care for animals. 🐕🐈

The assignments this year also include projects co-hosted and funded by our charitable arm, , to spay and neuter pets in Hawaii, create safe enclosures for pets in the Navajo Nation, and provide preventive care to pets on the island of Saipan.

Hey team, meet Pratheek!

Pratheek Reddy Reddy is one of the wonderful VAs we're appreciating this week, as well as a member of our Asian & Pacific Islander (API) Associate Resource Group (ARG) helping us celebrate 🎊 . 🎊

In honor of both, Pratheek shared what he loves about being a veterinary assistant 🐾 at our Matthews, NC, hospital + how being part of our API ARG enhances his work:

"I was led to join the veterinary industry since I was a child. I always wanted to contribute to the joy that animals bring to people.

I love working with every type of pet because they all bring something special to people. The bond between a pet and their owner is what truly makes my job rewarding. My favorite part of my job is the client education opportunities to stress the importance of preventative medicine.

I am of Indian descent. [Being part of] the API ARG means  contributing to an environment where you are allowing everyone to feel valued and respected. This promotes inclusion in workplaces, schools, and communities."

Thank you, Pratheek, for devoting your work to making sure pets and people both feel their best! 🧡💛💚🩵

Our ARGs, including API and many others, are community and culture-building opportunities open to every Associate! 📲 You can join on Viva Engage. Visit the API community page before the end of May to enter your coloring page and see more AAPI Heritage Month activities!

Today is , team! What's our action? Sharing a dopamine-seratonin-oxytocin-boosting burst of adorable pets that you've helped recently! 😍

Just seeing all these loving, furry faces lifts the spirits. 🧡🐶🧡😺🧡

And yes, science has shown interacting with pets increases all those feel-good chemicals! 🙌 You know it personally, and Mars' Pets and Wellbeing Study Program (PAWS) is leading even more global, in-depth research into the impact of cats and dogs on human mental health and wellbeing (check out link in bio for more!).

Which means that each of you is taking action every day to support mental health, by supporting the human-animal bond that greatly influences people's wellbeing. We're impressed by you every day! And your mental health matters, too. 🫶

Check in with yourself and each other: What action are you needing today? Today, and every day, we support you in taking action to support your mental health and wellbeing. 🧡

🌎 Earth Day every day at Banfield! 🌏

♻️ What are some of the creative ways you reduce, reuse, and recycle at your hospital?

Here, veterinary assistant Annette Arevalo at our Pacifica, CA, hospital is showing off the specialty recycling program they're testing, designed to reduce the amount of soft, flexible plastic in our landfills.

Pacifica is one our new ✨️ Sustainability Incubator Hospitals ✨️, which are trialing new products and services to reduce waste and energy consumption, that will then be scaled across the practice.

Not at one of these hospitals? There are many opportunities to help reduce our environmental impact across Banfield, Mars Veterinary Health, and the veterinary profession. ✅️ Check out the Earth Month article on Fetch for all the ways to get involved!

Every day we're working for means caring for the health of our planet, too. 💚
