It’s National Cook for Your Pets Day! 🐾 Whip up something special for your dog or cat. Simple ingredients like plain pumpkin, plain cooked chicken, or a little sweet potato make an easy, pet-safe treat.

Vet tip: skip the seasoning, butter, and onions, and check peanut butter labels for xylitol. It’s toxic to dogs.

Show us your taste-testers! Share a photo of your pet enjoying their snack in the comments. 👇

Happy National Black Cat Day! 🖤🐈‍⬛

Black cats may have a reputation for being mysterious, spooky, or “unlucky,” but we think they’re simply misunderstood! Behind those sleek black coats are cats with plenty of personality, whether they’re playful troublemakers, professional cuddle buddies, or the ones quietly ruling the house from the shadows.

This spooky season, let’s give black cats the love and attention they deserve! Have a black cat at home? Share a picture in the comments and tell us about their personality! 🐾🖤

October is National Pit Bull Awareness Month! 🐾🩷

This month is all about celebrating pit bull type dogs, challenging stereotypes, and reminding us to see each dog for who they are as an individual. These dogs can be goofy, loving, playful, cuddly, energetic, and everything in between. Their personalities are what make them special, and there’s so much more to them than a label or appearance.

Do you have a pit bull at home? Share a picture in the comments and tell us a little about their personality! Are they the biggest cuddle bug, a professional couch potato, a goofy troublemaker, or your favorite adventure buddy? We want to meet them! 🐶💕

October 21 is National Pets for Veterans Day, a day to recognize the incredible bond between veterans and the animals who support them. 🐾🇺🇸

For many veterans, pets, service dogs, and emotional support animals can provide companionship, comfort, and a sense of connection while navigating challenges such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the transition back to civilian life.

Today, we’re celebrating the special connection between veterans and their pets and recognizing the important role animals can play in their lives.

Want to help? Consider supporting organizations that connect veterans with companion and service animals through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word. ❤️🐶 veterans.nebraska.gov/vets-get-pets
