Ready set snow! One of phoenixes favorite things is snow but not for the reasons we like it. She loves to track small animals in the snow squirrels and rabbits. Something about the snow must make things smell different and therefore more interesting.

When we go out side on a snowy day the first thing that we notice is how beautifully visually stunning it is.

When a dog goes out in the snow watch them carefully usually the nose goes strait to the ground and they start smelling.

It’s time for us all to start thinking more about what the world looks like to our dogs.

When training a dog confidence is key. It is important to first be confident your self and to be confident in what ever you are training your dog to do. Dogs can easily read our body language and pick up on our confidence Instinctually. Confident dogs have confident owners. If we want our dogs to be confident it starts with being confederate ourselves.

Happy national dog day to my 2 hooligans. I am so incredibly thankful for all that these dogs have given me. They helped me discover one of my greatest passions in life and they continually challenge me and bring me so much joy. Because of wrangler and Phoenix I have learned so much and I still have so much more to learn about them. Dog ownership is filled with every emotion you can possibly feel.

Wait hold on..get my good side. •
We all have a good side, and a bad side that we choose not to show to the rest of the world. Instagram can be a place where people only show their accomplishments not their failures. Failing is ok. It is a part of learning. It takes courage to admit when you have failed and then to try something new. When a dog learns something new through free shaping they try random behaviors. If the dog tries an action and does not get the reward the dog tries something else until the dug succeeds and gets the reward. Dogs are amazing at failing and then then trying something else and failing and then trying again until they succeed. How to fail, is another huge lesson we can learn from our dogs. •
When training your dog what is something you have “failed” at? Remember failure isn’t final. Comment below one failure you have made👇 @ Valle Crucis, North Carolina

Phoenix is a Service dog.. and does bite work...get you a dog that can do both😇👹

This is a controversial topic. A lot of people think that service dogs should not do bite work of any kind. I however believe hat if I did not give Phoenix the outlet of doing bitework, (bite sleeves, bite pillows, wedges and tugs) then she would not be the dog she is today. I believe that you must give them an outlet to control the urges that they have. Phoenix is a Belgian Malinois. She loves biting. Through rewarding with bitework and teaching her impulse control I am able to show her clear pictures of what is and isn’t acceptable to me. Everything is a balance between expression of natural drives and control. Bite work is one of the main ways I have thought her control.

Do you think service dogs should do bite work? Answer in the comments below. 👇

You are barking up the wrong tree 🌲

It’s always useful to be able to “place” your dog on any nearby object to get them up and out of harms way. I do this when I see another dog or when there is anything I want to get her away from🐍. I also just let her do it for fun 😎Does anyone else have a dog that might be part cat or monkey or something ?
