Why Dental X-Rays Matter for Your Pet

Dental disease in pets often hides below the gumline, where it can’t be seen during a visual exam alone. That’s why dental X-rays are such an important part of a complete oral health assessment.

X-rays allow us to evaluate the tooth roots, surrounding bone, and structures beneath the gums. They help us detect problems like infections, abscesses, bone loss, retained roots, and fractured teeth, many of which cause pain but show little outward sign.

When dental imaging is included as part of a professional dental procedure, it ensures that treatment decisions are based on the full picture, not just what’s visible on the surface. This leads to safer procedures, more accurate diagnoses, and better long-term outcomes for your pet.

In veterinary medicine, the level of care provided during a dental procedure can greatly vary. The quality of care your pet receives is directly tied to the standards upheld during the procedure. We at Maybeck go by the gold standard of care to ensure your pet has the best possible outcome.

A Quick Note About Brevard County Pet Licensing

We have recently received questions regarding notifications about pet licenses from PetParent, the company that manages county pet licenses for Brevard County.

As a reminder, Brevard County requires that all dogs, cats, and ferrets be registered annually for county licensing. Each time we administer a rabies vaccine, we are required to submit the Rabies certificate to PetParent. PetParent then sends notifications if a pet’s county license is missing or overdue.

If you have any questions about your pet’s rabies vaccination status or need a copy of your pet’s rabies certificate, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are happy to help.

🦷 How Healthy Is Your Pet’s Smile? 🐶🐱

Did you know that by age 3, most dogs and cats show signs of dental disease?

Dental disease doesn’t just cause bad breath — it can lead to:
✔️ Painful, swollen gums
✔️ Infection and tooth loss
✔️ Difficulty eating
✔️ Bacteria spreading to the heart, liver, and kidneys

Periodontal disease happens in stages — and once it reaches the advanced stages, the damage can be irreversible.

The good news?
✨ Professional dental cleanings can prevent serious disease.
✨ Early treatment can reverse gingivitis.
✨ Routine dental care keeps your pet happier, healthier, and pain-free.

If your pet has bad breath, red gums, or hasn’t had a dental exam in the past year, now is the time to schedule one!

📞 Call us today to book a dental evaluation.
Because a healthy mouth means a healthier life. ❤️
