Bladder stones in pets are more common than many people realize, and some can grow silently over time until they become extremely painful or even life-threatening.
Signs your pet may have bladder stones or a urinary blockage:
🐾 Straining to urinate.
🐾 Frequent trips outside or to the litter box.
🐾 Blood in the urine.
🐾 Accidents in the house.
🐾 Crying or discomfort while urinating.
🐾 Excessive licking of the urinary area.
🐾 Small amounts of urine or inability to urinate at all.
🐾 Lethargy, vomiting, or loss of appetite.
A complete urinary blockage is an EMERGENCY and can become fatal quickly if left untreated.
Certain breeds, diets, chronic UTIs, dehydration, and genetics can increase the risk of stone formation. Routine exams, urinalysis, and X-rays can help catch these before they become severe.
