Grandpa Eustace has a new lease on life!

Who knew a little TLC, a comfy foster home, and a trip to the vet could make such a difference?

We’re starting to think Eustace might be a little younger than his original shelter estimate of 14… but no matter his age, he’s proving that senior dogs still have so much life and love to give. His health status hasn’t changed, but his spirit sure has. He’s dancing for his dinner, his skin is improving, and his personality is shining through more every day.

He’s made new friends, too! His pitbull foster sister Phoebe, who has quickly become his favorite. He’s even mastered the dog door and is confidently exploring his new world.

Thank you to everyone who shared his story and fell in love with this sweet old man. We certainly did. Senior dogs deserve just as much love, care, and comfort as dogs of any age.

And a huge thank you to his foster parents, Dean and Crystal, for giving Grandpa Eustace the safe, loving place he needed to truly blossom.

Meet Gerald!

If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who wants to be involved in every part of your day, Gerald is your guy. This happy, affectionate pug loves being with his people and will happily follow you from room to room just to see what you’re up to.

Lovingly called Jerry, this happy guy came to us from a CA Central Valley shelter. We estimate him to be around 3 years old, and he is playful, social, and always ready for an adventure. He enjoys walks, loves attention, and is quick to offer cuddles when it’s time to relax. He’s eager to please and has a wonderful, goofy personality that makes people fall for him fast.

Like many rescue dogs, Jerry is still working on a few things. He’s learning leash manners and gets more confident on walks every day. He’s also making progress with potty training as he settles into a routine. He has a small undeveloped eye that does not hurt or need to be removed.

Jerry would do best in a home where he can be the star of the show and soak up plenty of love and attention. He hasn’t been tested with children yet, but everyone he’s met so far has been greeted with enthusiasm, curiosity, and lots of affection. He’s friendly with cats, but like most dogs will want to chase them if they run.

He recently got neutered, a dental cleaning, a microchip, and full vaccinations. He’s being fostered in Sacramento, CA.

If you’re looking for a devoted companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Jerry is ready to meet you.

Lolli is adopted!

When Stacy, Shaun, and their family reached out, they were hoping to add a young female pug to the household, someone playful enough to keep their pug Belle company as their Frenchie Taco slows down with age. They met several of our available pugs, but one tiny whirlwind stole their hearts immediately: Lolli.

Lolli came into rescue with her mom, Panina (who is still available!), after their former owners decided they no longer wanted to care for them. In foster care, Lolli was pure joy and motion: a bouncy, mischievous puppy who kept her foster parents and foster pug sibling entertained nonstop.

Her new family is excited for the extra energy she’ll bring to the house and for the boost in activity and fun she’ll give Belle. And she even has a new name: Liberty.

We absolutely love this family’s dog-name themes. First came Taco and Belle (Taco Bell), and when the time eventually comes to say goodbye to Taco, the duo will become Liberty and Belle (Liberty Bell).

Happy tails, Liberty!

Introducing Noodle, the sweetest puppy there is. Noodle came to us from a shelter in Sutter County after being found as a stray. The shelter had labeled him rescue-only and not adoptable, so we reached out to see how we could help.

From the moment we met him, it was clear this little guy had a story. The shelter veterinarian suspected hydrocephalus because of his enlarged head, but Noodle also has several significant scars across his skull. Our own veterinarian believes they may be the result of a previous traumatic injury. Despite everything he’s endured, he shows no neurological symptoms.

He also has some of the most severe knee deformities we’ve ever seen. He crawls around like a little crab and likely has a urological condition that will require evaluation by a specialist.

We recently met with an orthopedic surgeon to discuss his hind legs. An experimental procedure was proposed with an estimated cost of nearly $20,000, but before making any decisions, we’re gathering additional opinions. Our priority is making sure any treatment improves Noodle’s quality of life and doesn’t put him through unnecessary pain or recovery.

For now, Noodle is doing what puppies should do: playing, snuggling, making friends, and soaking up love. This boy’s favorite place in the world is curled up in someone’s lap, snoring softly and feeling safe. Over the past few weeks, he’s been happily romping around with other puppies, completely unaware that he’s supposed to be anything other than a normal, joyful little dog.

We’ll continue focusing on good nutrition, socialization, vaccines, and lots of cuddles while we work with specialists to determine the best future for him.

Stay tuned for Noodle updates. And if you’ve ever seen a case like this before, we’d love to hear from you.

Get ready for the best news: the one and only Guppy has been adopted!

This legendary pug mix joined our rescue back in September after his owner entered a nursing home without a plan in place for her dogs. His two canine companions found homes last year, while Guppy has spent the past several 9 months being lovingly cared for by his incredible foster, Michelle ().

Over the months, we received a handful of inquiries, but none turned into a commitment. As time passed, we started to wonder if Guppy’s perfect match would ever come. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the most wonderful family appeared.

Thea and Justin are longtime pug lovers who recently said goodbye to their senior pugs after navigating many of the medical challenges that can come with the breed. In their words, they simply “could not stand an empty home.” Although they live in Tacoma, Washington, they learned that Guppy would be attending Pug Prom and asked family members in the Bay Area to come meet him on their behalf.

Throughout the event, we noticed a family carrying Guppy around, spending time with his foster, and getting to know him. It wasn’t until they approached us with tears in their eyes that we realized what was happening.

When we announced Guppy’s adoption to the crowd, the room erupted in cheers. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable Pug Prom.

His new family even created an Instagram account for him, , knowing how many people have been rooting for this special guy and would want to follow his next chapter.

Thank you, Thea, Justin, and your family for loving Guppy exactly as he is. He hit the jackpot, already spoiled from day one. And a huge thank you to Michelle for opening your home, your heart, and your life to this unforgettable little character while he waited for his forever family.

Happy tails, Guppy. ❤️

We’re excited to be walking in the Piedmont Fourth of July Parade again this year, and we’d love for you and your pug to join us!

The parade begins at 11:00 a.m., and we recommend arriving early since parking can be a challenge. We’ll share details about our meetup location as the date gets closer, but for now, be sure to save the date.

As always, we’re looking forward to a beautiful Piedmont summer day and a fun parade with fellow pug lovers!

Nessie is adopted! ❤️

Jean is a lifelong pug lover whose family has shared their home with eight pugs over the years. After recently saying goodbye to her beloved senior pug, Lillie, the quiet in the house felt overwhelming. She knew what was missing: the love and companionship only a pug can bring.

Nessie came to us after her owner decided they no longer wanted her and attempted to give her away online. Despite being let down by people, she never lost her loving, trusting spirit. We knew she was going to make someone very happy.

When Jean came to our adoption event today in Martinez with her son, she was immediately drawn to Nessie. As she sat with her, she looked up and said, “I didn’t know I could feel happy again.” Her son thanked us and shared how much this meant to his mom. It was one of those moments that reminds us exactly why we do this work.

Nessie, now Myrtle, has found her perfect home. She’ll spend the rest of her years surrounded by love, snuggles, and more pug siblings than she could ever count.

Happy tails, sweet girl. ❤️

Meet Eustace, or as we call him, Grandpa.

Grandpa was found as a stray, likely abandoned in his old age and in heartbreaking condition. His teeth are severely diseased and falling out, his vision is limited, his skin is raw from years of untreated flea allergies, his nails were painfully overgrown, and he arrived dirty, uncomfortable, and struggling with a persistent cough.

The shelter estimated him to be 14 years old. Whether he’s a panda pug or a Japanese Chin pug mix, one thing is certain: he’s absolutely adorable.

We pulled him from the Elk Grove shelter and got him into to urgent care when his cough sounded more serious than kennel cough. Diagnostics revealed that he has severe tracheal collapse. He’s been prescribed hydrocodone to reduce the coughing and airway irritation, has enjoyed a much-needed warm bath, and is settling into foster care.

His vet agrees that he’s in no condition to go under sedation to address his dental problems or do further testing.

We’ve only had Grandpa for 48 hours, but our promise to him is simple: every day he has left will be filled with love, comfort, good meals, soft beds, and people who care.

If your heart is telling you that this sweet old man belongs with you for his remaining days, we’d love to hear from you. Otherwise, he already has a foster home ready to spoil him rotten until it’s time to say goodbye.

Dalton is adopted!

The Leong family said goodbye to their beloved pug, Laci, last year and had been hoping to find a playful, energetic companion for their Labradoodle, Ozzie. After meeting a few of our young and active pugs, they quickly fell in love with Dalton…and the feeling was mutual!

Dalton came to us from Tulare Animal Services after being found as a stray. With his larger-than-life personality (and the body to match!), we couldn’t be happier that he’s joining a family where he’ll have a big dog sibling to romp, play, and make memories with.

Congratulations to Dalton and the Leong family. We wish them many years of love, laughter, and adventures together.

Happy tails, everyone!
