Happy 3 year Zinger Ranch Farm Sanctuary rescue anniversary to Pickles! ❤️

Our next new girl is Pickle! Pickle comes from the same place as Dill and you can tell she’s a survivor by the new and old injuries on her neck, face and eye. Raccoons had been invading their unsecure area and killing the ducks leaving only a few survivors. After Dill was found on the street over the weekend we connected with the owner and he agreed to also give Pickle to us. Since she was not safe from raccoons she was rescued late last night by who brought her to us today. She’s in pretty bad shape, also covered in a strange oil and will need several baths to undo the damage. I’ve left a message to get her seen by the veterinarian so we can get a better idea on the extent of her injuries. Stay tuned for her bath photos, we had some fun and she took house duck to the next level 😝

When we rescued her from a “farm” in Berkeley she was covered in black oil and had horrible bumblefoot. Another duck Dill had been rescued from the same location the week before in the same condition so we were happy to help this girl as well. She’d barely survived a raccoon attack that killed the rest of her flock and was left for dead by the farmer who had her. Her face was fractured and the odds were against her but the Dr’s and staff at Medical Center For Birdsdid their magic and she healed from it all wonderfully. She’s now our flock boss who sometimes frequents our snuggle session visits to schools and memory care homes making new friends and sharing awareness about ducks. Pickles could use a sponsor! Betty the pig had her semi annual hoof trim today with Adventures with Emily the Trimmer and did great! We’re so grateful for Emily’s gentle touch keeping our sweet girls hooves healthy and in tip top shape! 💅🐗

Farrier day for former wild burros George and Fred! They’ve come so far since being rescued almost 7 years ago and were such gentlemen for their mani pedis! Here George is giving brother Fred support while also secretly hoping he’ll get another Mrs. Pastures Cookies for Horses

We had the very best time bringing the animals to visit the residents and staff at last week! So many laughs and fun stories and LOTS of snuggles. ❤️We’ve been visiting with the animals for over 6 years now and have made so many friends and shared so many smiles over the years. These visits always make my heart so happy and the animals also enjoy the extra attention, especially Keanu the rooster! Thank you to our volunteers Elizabeth and Margaret for coming to help along with Mr. Zinger Ranch, it’s always a fun time with a great team!

Update on Paloma: Dr K called this morning with test results and Paloma did come back positive for one type of leptospirosis in addition to the E Coli. Luckily the antibiotics have been working and she seems to be slowly improving. We take her back for another E Coli titer test on the 13th and another urine culture on the 23rd. Thank you all for your well wishes, prayers, good thoughts and donations towards her diagnostics and treatment which has exceeded $1,600. As always your donations to our nonprofit are deductible at tax time and also gets you some good karma. ❤️
