As part of the Board of Directors of the Pleasants Valley Agriculture Association we’ve been working hard behind the scenes with county officials to bring support and opportunity to our local farmers. In this next phase the county is hosting a community meeting looking for input on what types of offerings and events you’d like to see from our local farmers. Current restrictive county rules, regulations and fees have made it difficult for farmers to succeed, this overlay will bring new allowable agritourism opportunities to our local farms and producers all while generating new revenue for the area. This will not include hotels, restaurants or large event centers, which fall under different areas of county code.
Please attend and let your voice of support be heard.

Many of you have reached out after receiving the county’s pamphlet about Low-Impact Agritourism in the Pleasants, Vaca, and Lagoon Valleys. With so much new information circulating, I wanted to share an update directly from the Pleasant Valley Agriculture Association.
Over the past several months, PVAA along with several local farms and ranches has been working closely with the Solano County Planning Department to develop an Agritourism Overlay for our region. The goal is simple: to create opportunities for farmers and ranchers to generate supplemental income while staying compliant with county regulations and keeping agriculture at the center of what we do.
So what exactly is low-impact agritourism?
It includes small, farm-based activities such as hay rides, farm tours, you-pick days, workshops, cooking classes, farm-to-table dinners, and other experiences that allow the public to connect with working farms.
It does not include hotels, restaurants, or large event centers. Those types of uses fall under other parts of the county code and are not part of this proposal.
The county will be hosting a community meeting to gather input, and your voices are important as we shape the future of agritourism in our valleys.
