Please share and EMAIL! This is a good Rescue that keeps getting harassed by the DNR.
URGENT - Let's Unite to Save Peanut!
A tiny fawn, Peanut, arrived at our rehab facility in critical condition, but she defied the odds with her remarkable will to survive. After months of intensive care, she made a stunning recovery, inspiring us all with her resilience.
Despite her progress, Peanut's neurological issues and imperfect vision made her non-releasable. She was transferred to an organization that provides a safe haven for non-releasable fawns, where she could thrive and serve as an educational ambassador. She is a perfect candidate for education.
Tragically, the Michigan DNR's misinterpretation of the law has put Peanut's life at risk. They are demanding her euthanasia due to an arbitrary deadline, despite the fact that she is healthy and has a safe haven. The facility requested to add her on to their scientific collector’s permit as is standard procedure and there are no arbitrary dates to do so. The DNR secretary, Casey Reitz ,stated that the request had to be submitted by Sept 15 so they now must kill her! The Wildlife Conservation Order states a date of Sept 15 if you request an extension to rehabilitate a fawn. There was no request to rehabilitate a fawn. A veterinarian sent a letter the fawn was non releasable and the request was for adding the fawn on their current permit to be an educational ambassador.
We must act swiftly to save Peanut! She is scheduled for euthanasia next week! Let's come together to urge Governor Whitmer and the DNR's Wildlife Division to reevaluate their decision and allow Peanut to live out her life in safety. Call them today and let your voice be heard! We can make a difference and create a brighter future for Peanut. She is beyond precious and needs you TODAY!
