These pups are ready for their fresh start!

Meet Bruno (M), Messenger (M), and Rose (F) — three lovable Shih Tzus who came into our care after their previous owner could no longer care for them.

We would like to give a big shoutout to Dawn's Dawgs Dog Grooming and Black Dog Pet Grooming for donating so much time and care to the transformation these pups needed and deserved. They did an amazing job, and we cannot thank them enough!

This land hippo needs a home 😞

Some of you may even remember Cornbread Carl! He came to us as a small pup last October, but it was not as simple as that. Cornbread Carl was abandoned, and a Good Samaritan found him wandering the streets. He had a severe case of mange, his fur was almost completely gone, his nails were overgrown, and he was certainly underweight.

Luckily, Cornbread Carl was safe with us and got the treatment he needed, the foster home he deserved, and eventually an adoptive home and family he loved. But as time went on, the family was not fully on the same page about the responsibility of owning a dog. Cornbread Carl has ended up back in our care and is looking for a home that will truly mean forever 🥰

Being back in the shelter has been very, very hard on Carl. Carl has been struggling to keep his anxiety down ever since returning. Even with the designated time we get to spend with him throughout the day, it is not the same as the reassurance and love that a home gives. Carl needs to get out of the shelter sooner rather than later, for his own sanity and to heal his broken heart.

Carl has been responding well to training and seems like he wants to please as much as he can. When he gets a little time to decompress, he does enjoy playing. He enjoys being outside and genuinely just being near someone. He loves people, and he wants people to love him. Because he is so stressed out, we think a home without any other animals or young children would be best for him, but we are open to the discussion of possible dog meets.

If you're looking to never have a dull moment again...meet Riddle 🤪

Riddle is ALL gas and no brakes, but he's handsome, so he gets away with it. He was transferred to us from another shelter after having no luck finding a home as a puppy. Now he's with our team, hoping our community will give him the chance he deserves at just 6 months old.

Riddle loves to play, jump, steal treats, throw - and then tangle himself in - his toys, run...basically anything that lets him burn off energy while making sure you're watching and cheering him on. He's a goofy, playful guy, and it's clear his brain is still doing a little growing, so we can promise you'll never be short on laughs with him around.

He has been responding well to training with our behaviorist and would benefit from continued training to help him become the very best doggo version of himself 😊 Riddle also loves everyone he meets and he gets along with cats and he LOVES playing with other dogs. If you're looking for a fun-loving companion who will keep you smiling...and shaking your head every day, Riddle is ready to meet you!

Sasha is looking for a home by the end of the day!

Sasha is an almost 3 month old German Shepherd. She’s very playful but very eager to please and is always ready to cuddle. We are open until 4PM ❤️🐾

Sasha is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines.

Happy DOGust! 🥳🐾🐶

For the past 8 years, August 1st has been celebrated as the universal birthday for all shelter and rescue dogs!Oftentimes, dogs come into the shelter with little to no background - and certainly no idea when their true birthday is.

Not only are we responsible for giving them a brighter future, but we’re also responsible for celebrating them! We are happy they are here. We are happy they get to heal. We are happy they get a fresh start. Most of all, we are happy they are alive.

Our staff took the time to dress these sweet doggos up - some loved it...others, not so much 😂 - and added a quick backdrop so we could show off who’s looking for a family to celebrate their birthday with!

We’re OPEN today from 11AM - 4PM, and they would love to meet you!

We told them we wouldn't let their boss know if they tried to steal a couple of kittens on the job 🤫😹

A very big thank you to these New York State Troopers for stopping by to check in on our staff and see the operations here at our shelter. Of course, we made sure they found their way into our kitten room - because who wouldn't want to? We hope the extra cuddles made their day.

We're incredibly grateful for our relationship with the New York State Police and for everything they do to help keep our community safe. We also appreciate their continued efforts to bring animal welfare to the forefront of our community 💙
