Meet two of our small girls looking for a home today 🥰

Psych, 11 year old female:
Don't let her age fool you - Psych is such a sweet and happy girl. She perks up at the prospect of any and all attention and is just happy to be around people. Psych unfortunately came to us when her previous owner could no longer afford to care for a pet. She does great on a leash and thoroughly enjoys walks, takes treats gently, and gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids! Psych is a Miniature Pinscher.

Pumpkin, 1 year old female:
Pumpkin was transferred to us from another shelter when she wasn't having much luck receiving adoption interest. We are more than happy to help this girl and can't believe she's still here! Pumpkin is very friendly and excitable. She is all about giving leg hugs (because that's about as tall as she gets 😂) and receiving any and all pets - those squinty eyes mean she's enjoying every second of it. Pumpkin gets along with dogs larger than her (30 pounds and up), cats, and children. Pumpkin is a Chihuahua Mix.

Both of these girls weigh under 30 pounds, are spayed, micro-chipped, and vaccinated and would make the greatest companions or family addition. They have so much life ahead of them and they are ready to spend it with YOU. We are open today from 11AM - 4PM - they will be waiting for you!

Reese can't heal in the shelter 😞

Transitioning into a shelter is hard for any animal. The initial shock of losing their home, their family, feeling confined, and the stress can weigh heavily on them as they try to understand what the new four walls of their kennel mean. Unfortunately, that was the case for Reese. Just one night after arriving, Reese suffered a torn cruciate (a ruptured ligament in his knee).

The stress got to him. After originally being adopted from another shelter, Reese was later returned at 6 years old when his family could no longer care for him. Unfortunately, that shelter could not take him back. So off he went to another shelter that wanted to help him, but with no space available, we stepped in.

We've managed to monitor him as best we can, but Reese needs a home where he can rest his leg, be showered with love, and truly heal. Reese does not need surgery, and even though we love him dearly, the shelter is no place to recover from an injury. Despite his little white sugar beard, it's hard to believe this boy is 6 years old - he has all the typical Lab energy. Right now he needs a home to keep him calm, providing plenty of comfy beds, and giving him places to snuggle are all he needs while his injury improves. Then it'll be playtime for this big guy!

It hurts our hearts to watch him hobble around the shelter, and we know a home will help heal even the most stressed parts of him. Reese is good with other dogs and lived around children and cats in his previous home. However, because he is such a happy, playful boy, a home without other animals and young children - or one with a designated space where he can rest and recover first - would be ideal while he heals.

Reese has been through enough transitions. Help us make sure his next move is into a forever home ❤️

We open at 11AM today! Reese is neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped. To view all of our available animals and inquire about a possible adoption or foster, please call (315) 738-4357, stop-in, or visit our website: www.anitas-sshs.org/adopt 🐾

Our Blue Room is having bad luck 😿

Our Blue Room currently houses most of our adult cats looking for a home, and they haven't seen much interest in weeks - some haven't seen any in months. June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, and these sweet kitties are in need of hope and forever homes now more than ever.

They've all made friends with each other, but now it's time for them to make some human friends - preferably ones who will take them home! Throughout the month of June, all adult cats 6 months and older will have their adoption fee discounted by 50% (final adoption fee is $50).

These cats have so much love to give. Don't let them spend another week here - please help us share their cute faces!

All cats are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped. We are open tomorrow from 11AM - 5PM. To view all of our available animals and inquire about a possible adoption or foster, please call (315) 738-4357, stop-in, or visit our website: www.anitas-sshs.org/adopt 🐾

❤️ADOPTED❤️
Meet two of our older puppies looking for a chance 🥰

Meet Scoot (male, purple collar) and Mable (female, pink collar)! These sweet 8 month old pups came to us after being rescued from a life outside on a chain with little to no food, water, or socialization.

They've both been with us for just a week, and despite their past and the transition into shelter life, their spirits remain high and full of love. They've learned to walk on a regular leash, love meeting new people, and truly seem excited to be around anyone who feels like hope for a new beginning.

They get along with kids, cats, and other dogs. While they do not need to be adopted together, they do enjoy each other's company, so they can absolutely go home together if you're ready for two sweet pups at once!

We believe they are a Hound/Retriever/Labrador mix, but we don't know their exact genetic makeup - we're just making our best guess based on their cute faces and veterinary exams 😆

After everything they've been through, Scoot and Mable deserve to know what it's like to have a family, a home, and a bed of their own. Both are currently weighing around 40 pounds, fixed, current on vaccines, and microchipped. Poor Jordan 🥺

Jordan is hoping the third time's the charm. This sweet boy has now entered his third shelter in hopes of having better luck. We were happy to step in and welcome him after he's spent far too much time bouncing from rescue to rescue and state to state. We're hoping our community can finally turn things around for him!

Jordan is a really sweet, outgoing, and lovable pup. He loves all the typical dog things - walks, playtime, hugs, treats (which he takes very gently), and spending time with his people. He really is the perfect medium-sized companion (45 pounds) for adventures, but also for our favorite activity - cuddling on the couch. While Jordan has only been with us for a short time, he has quickly become a staff favorite and has won over everyone he's met!

At 3 years old, Jordan has the perfect amount of energy to run, wiggle, and play all day, but he'll be more than happy to relax with his new owner(s) when it's time to lounge. Jordan also gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids!

Jordan doesn't deserve to keep growing up in a shelter. We need help turning this guy's luck around. We need your help sharing his story so Jordan can finally learn that someone out there has been waiting for him all along 🤞

We open at 11AM tomorrow! Jordan is neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped. To view all of our available animals and inquire about a possible adoption or foster, please call (315) 738-4357, stop-in, or visit our website: www.anitas-sshs.org/adopt 🐾

June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month 🐱❤️

Every year, hundreds of cats find themselves waiting in our shelter for someone to give them a second chance, a home, and a family. Some are playful, some are cuddly, some are independent, and some are the perfect mix of everything. But they all have one thing in common - they're looking for a place to lay their heads forever.

This month, we encourage you to consider opening your heart and home to a shelter cat. Not only will you gain a loyal companion, but you'll also be giving an animal a fresh start and making room for us to help another cat in need. To honor the cats in our care and those who will call on us for help throughout June, all cats 6 months and older will have their adoption fee discounted by 50% (adoption fee will be $50).

Cats like TT, the pretty girl pictured, have been waiting almost 60 days for someone to choose her. TT is a 3 year old girl craving attention and growing sad while she waits for it. If you visit our Green Room while she's out, she will greet you at the door and spend the rest of your visit meowing at your feet. When she isn't by your side, you'll find her soaking up the sun, making use of a cat scratcher, or eagerly waiting for mealtime.

While TT would prefer the only-child lifestyle, she gets to roam our Green Room alongside the other kitties and does a great job minding her business and waiting her turn. Please stop in and meet TT and our adoptable cats, and help us make June their month to find forever homes 🐾

We are open tomorrow from 11AM-5PM! To view all of our available animals and inquire about a possible adoption or foster, please call (315) 738-4357, stop-in, or visit our website: www.anitas-sshs.org/adopt
