We're Canine Craze Performance Center and we've been a dog training and dog day school facility here in Urbandale, IA, since 2001. We believe in using positive reinforcement training and clicker training to help dogs learn. We're looking forward to growing our business to continue to serve the greater Des Moines area and partnering with Polk County's consumers to be the best dog training facility

Today we're celebrating one very special girl, August! 💛

August has been part of the Canine Craze family since she was a puppy, and watching her grow has been such a privilege.

If you're lucky enough to be part of August's inner circle, you know exactly what makes her so special. The moment she sees one of her favorite people, her entire body starts to wiggle with excitement. It's impossible not to smile when you're the one receiving one of those famous August greetings.

She absolutely loves to train, thrives when she has a job to do, and is happiest spending time with the people she knows and trusts. Around her friends, she's full of personality, enthusiasm, and just enough goofiness to keep everyone laughing. She truly is the life of the party with her favorite people.

Today we're celebrating someone whose passion for dogs, people, and education has shaped Canine Craze in countless ways.

As our Director of Training, Renee has dedicated her career to helping dogs and their families build stronger relationships through positive, thoughtful training. While she's worked with thousands of dogs over the years, one of her greatest passions today is helping the next generation of trainers grow into knowledgeable, compassionate professionals.

Whether she's coaching a new trainer, refining our curriculum, developing new programs, or mentoring our team, Renee is always asking one question:

"How can we make this even better for our dogs, our clients, and our trainers?"

That passion extends beyond Canine Craze as she also serves as the Director of Training for Puppy Jake Foundation, helping prepare both trainers and service dogs to change the lives of veterans.

Her leadership, dedication, and commitment to learning continue to inspire everyone around her. We are incredibly grateful for everything she brings to our team and to the countless people and dogs whose lives she's impacted over the years.

Amanda's passion for dogs extends far beyond the walls of Canine Craze. As an avid dog sports enthusiast, she's always exploring new activities with her own dogs and is a wonderful example of what it means to build a rich, fulfilling life alongside your canine companion.

One of Amanda's biggest contributions to our community is her leadership within the Craze Trained Club (CTC). Whether she's leading one of our monthly hikes, organizing Fit Dog Walks, or encouraging members to try something new with their dogs, Amanda inspires people to get out, have fun, and strengthen the relationship they share with their four-legged best friend.

She doesn't just tell people how important it is to do things with their dogs. She lives it every day.

🎆 Fourth of July Tips: Setting Your Dog Up for Success 🎆

Fireworks can be exciting for us, but for many dogs they can be overwhelming. A little preparation can go a long way.

Here are a few ways to help your dog have a more comfortable holiday:

✔️Provide physical and mental enrichment earlier in the day through walks, training, sniffing activities, food puzzles, or play
✔️Create a safe space where your dog can choose to relax and feel secure
✔️Close windows and curtains to reduce outside noise and visual stimulation
✔️Use white noise, calming music, fans, or a TV to help buffer firework sounds
✔️Offer enrichment activities such as a frozen Kong, chew, or lick mat during peak noise times
✔️Make sure collars, tags, and microchip information are up to date

Not every dog enjoys fireworks, and that’s okay. Meeting them where they are and planning ahead can make a big difference. We wish you and your family a safe and happy Fourth!
