Hospice Hearts is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer, foster-based animal rescue licensed by the IL Dept of AG EIN 47-5247265

Established as an independent organization in 2015, Hospice Hearts is an all-volunteer, foster-based animal rescue based in Urbana, Illinois. We provide care and adoption to any age of cats and dogs whose owners are no longer able to care for them due to nursing home admission, serious illness, or death. Many Hospice Hearts cats and dogs would be deemed unadoptable in a traditional shelter environ

ment and euthanized due to advanced age or health issues. We are proud to provide an alternative for these beloved pets when their owners are no longer able to care for them. A 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Hospice Hearts serves cats and dogs in the foster care environment until time of adoption. As space permits, we accept pets directly from owners in need as well as transfers from shelters and animal controls around the state meeting our criteria.

This big, huggable sweetheart is an 8-year-old gentle giant with a heart full of love. Blue Moon settled into his foster home quickly and even made fast friends with his foster buddy, Rosie. Though a little cautious at first, after just a couple days he’s completely at ease and ready to show off his kind and friendly personality

Blue Moon is a champion napper who adores belly rubs and is often found exploring the house, peeking out windows, or sneaking a look inside kitchen cabinets when no one’s around. He has a soft, baby-kitten meow that’ll melt your heart and a playful streak—he loves bringing toys to his humans and chasing after the “worm on a string” toy.

This handsome boy has great manners, always uses his litter box, and enjoys using a scratching post. Blue Moon has a healthy appetite and would do well in a home with other cats, thanks to his easygoing nature. While his interactions with children haven’t been tested, his gentle personality suggests he’d adapt well to a loving environment.

Our littlest resident is still looking for his future family! Wolfie is the last of his litter to find a home but he doesn't let that stop him. This little guy spends his life with a double identity part purr machine and part chaos incarnate aka the typical kitten. Wolfie plays hard and cuddles harded. The momment you walk into his room, he purrs and seeks attention. Do you have a wand toy! With FEATHERS! You have just made his day and he must run, pounce and attack that feather with all his might.

🎉Reggie turned 1 last week, Happy Birthday🥳🎁! Can you believe this lovable loaf has been waiting for a forever family most of his life!?
Reggie had a rough and tumble start to life, literally as he fell out from under a car driving down the road and because of that he has a slight scar on his lip but that just makes him more handsome. Who doesn't love a man with a scar?
Reggie loves to play, nap and play again. He needs another cat friend in his future home and currently has lived with cats age 1 to 15 years old. He has learned to both push their buttons and back away when he gets to be too much. Want a cuddler who is ready to play? Reggie is your boy.

Hey Hospice Hearts Friends! 🙂 Could you open your heart and home to be a foster for us? We are in desperate need for more fosters, especially for cats! We have a looooong list of cats who would like to enter HH, but we've had to turn them away (or at least postpone their intake) because we have no fosters available. For those on the wait list, it often means a stressful time of boarding somewhere or a person who is unwell enough to need our services in the first place, to continue to try and care for them often to the detriment of their health and their pets.

So what is involved? You provide room for them to decompress and get used to their new surroundings. You provide love and care for their needs with supplies we provide. We pay for all food, supplements, medicines and vet appointments they might need.

Red came to Hospice Hearts with his littermates last August. While all of his brothers and sister have been adopted, Red has been growing up in different foster homes while waiting for his forever family to find him! He is approximately 8 months old and roughly 40 lbs. He walks well on a leash, loves other dogs, and does well with dog-savvy children! He is very energetic, and would do well in an active home. He walks well on a leash and is crate trained.

Jannie & Festival are the last “kittens” from each of their litters that came to our rescue last year. We love leftovers, do you?
They have watched their littermates get adopted before them, but they can only be happy for them.

Reggie is this sweet orange tabby boy who is looking for True Love! Will he find it with you?
Reggie is a young boy with a lot of energy. He loves nothing better than to play/wrestle with the other kitties in his foster home. Reggie has realized that laps are nice place to cuddle & sleep. This little guy came to Hospice Hearts after a rescuer saw him tumble out from under a vehicle on the road. The rescuer brought him to Good Friends Animal Hospital to recover. The only sign of any injury is a mark on the his lip where is tongue occasionally sticks out. Reggie will need a buddy to play with. Reggie has been neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, FIV & FeLV negative, on monthly flea prevention, and negative test for intestinal parasites.

Ice Cream, the last of the remaining 3 kittens from the Summer Fun Litter is looking for his true love! Could you be his sweetheart? He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, on monthly flea preventative, FIV/FeLV negative, and ready to go! His ideal home would have another playful kitty and a human or 2 or more to cuddle with.
