In loving memory of Gunk Gilbert
Our Gunk crossed the rainbow bridge October 5th 2025. He will be forever missed by his parents, Dow Gilbert and Kelly Brown and his Great Dane siblings, Luther Tibbs, Emberlynn and Nymeria, and his skunk brother Charlie Starr.
Gunk was born in April of 2022. He became part of our pack May 30th, 2022. Gunk was only 9 oz when he came to live with us and he could fit in the palm of our hand. His big personality was evident from the start. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings and he would get right in the middle of the three dogs with no fear at all. I'm not sure he realized he was a skunk, he was the littlest Dane. One of his favorite things to do was chase his mom, though mom didn't enjoy it as much. He loved to nuggle with his dad. They would take walks and chase each other around the house. His absolute favorite thing was getting up with his dad in the mornings when it was just the two of them. That time together was special to them both. He loved smelling dad's shoes and had to inspect them everyday. He would steal dad's socks every chance he got. He would collect things from all of us to take back to his sleeping area, dad's socks, mom's nightgown, dog toys, bath towels. Any personal item was fair game.
Gunk loved dinner time. His favorite foods were bacon, mac and cheese, marshmallows, and cheesecake.. He liked to groom himself after dinner. He would wash his little face and hands. He would sleep under Mom and Dad's bed and they loved to hear him purr and coo in his sleep.
Gunk was a funny little guy and he brought joy to his family. He was very smart and he would often surprise us with the things he did. His nightly patrols around the house will be missed. It was like had to check everything out before he could settle in for the night. Mom is really going to miss him stomping at her. His loss is felt everyday and the house is not the same without him. We were blessed to have him.
Gunker you will be forever in our hearts, always loved, and never ever forgotten and your loss will be forever felt. You brought so much joy and laughter to our lives. No doubt we will be telling Gunk stories years from now. You are such a special part of our lives and we love you so very much. Thank you Gunk for being part of our family.
Rest easy Gunk until we see you again.
Hugs and kisses,
Your pack
