Cartroad Farm-Alpine Dairy Goats

Cartroad Farm-Alpine Dairy Goats Raising healthy, show quality, ADGA Registered American Alpine dairy goats. Welcome to Cartroad Farm! I have been breeding and showing ever since.

My adventure with goats truly started in 2001 when i recieved 2 goats for my 9th birthday. I enjoyed taking care of them very much and soon became involved in The Caprine Kids 4-H club. After leasing a Nigerian Dwarf for a year, I decided I wanted a larger breed for myself and in 2006 my family purchased 2 ADGA American Alpines from Kerstrat Farm (Cookie and Stella). The goats are first and forem

ost our dearly loved pets, however I keep a small herd, breeding with conformation and quality in mind. we freshen about 1-3 does each spring and occasionally have to make tough cuts to keep herd numbers at a comfortable place. Each year we have a small number of kids/ adults available and will only place them in the best homes where they will be cared for. If you are interested in our goats or farm feel free to send an email, message, or call . :)

We were so busy this weekend I shamefully neglected to do a very important Birthday post.
Happy 14th!! Birthday on 6.13.2022 to Cartroad Roscoe Cinnamonbun.
Born in 2008 while I was still in high-school!! A part of triplets from our first registered Alpine doe, Cookie ( rip)

At this age, she is definitely an older goat but maintains as herd queen with her Daughter Penny ( 11yrs) over the herd all the way down to her great-great-great granddaughters.

Penny Lane just celebrated her 11th birthday on the 8th. Neely, who was our last bottle baby, just turned 2, and Black bird turning 5. Others are in the barn since its muddy and chilly after yesterday's rain.

We are posting 3 wethers that were bred and born on our farm and have been living a good life as pets at their home in Sutton MA. Born in 2017, at 4 years old, the trio ( twin brothers and another) are in search of a new home. Friendly, raised with 3 children, would be nice 4H projects, family pets, or companions.
Have had regular vet checks and no current health concerns. 2 pictured below, you can just see the side of third one with his white belly spot.

How does goat math work again..... 6+1= 5? Right? Today we added back Black Bird. She is joined our other adult retired/pet herd. She looks great and was very loved and cared for at her home. What one more? Lol

We also have two dry yearlings that were never shown last year and will be deciding if/ when and how to go about moving them along since they are young with potential before they miss freshening at 2 year.
We as a farm are taking a break from breeding while life has started new chapters that don't quite allow us to enjoy our girls anymore than as pets to care for love.

We were so busy this weekend we missed 6/13 without even knowing the day.

We send a belated Happy Birthday to our eldest doe, Cartroad Roscoe CinnamonBun who turned 13 years old on Sunday. She still stands herd queen over her daughter Penny who is 10. Xoxo Cinnabutt.

Hello All!!! We have seen some new followers for our page, which is great!.
I would just like to make a newer- official post ( and hope to have a moment to change our website to reflect this) but for the first year since 2006-07 when we started breeding register American Alpines. We have not bred any does for 2021 babies.

It was tough to skip all the heat cycles and avoid looking up pedigrees and dreaming about what color and type of kid might come from our lovely does. Since Covid 19 started and shows were missed, life has taken a new direction for us and we are not able to focus on breeding and showing and managing the herd like we used to.
Currently we have 3 retired does Cinnamon-12yr, Penny Lane - 9y, Clarabella - 7y. A beautiful 3 going on 4 year old that we are sad to keep dry but just couldn't let go off- Anna Belle. We have 2 dry yearlings Molly Jones and Cam Neely ( pitcured) who may or not make it to a show but it is currently doubtful unless Covid Climate changes and we have the time. They also would be the only 2 we picture selling potentially later this year.
We have had a pretty good run at the quality of kids we have produced, the wonderful folks who got us started and taught us so much. Heck we even produced a few champions and pretty nice studs.

My girls. We are keeping warm with lots of hay and filling buckets every morning and night. Their wooly coats are nice and thick this year.

The girls are out this morning after being shut in all day due to poor weather. The 8 month old doelings were feeling frisky

Neely for attention

Cartroad Farm would like to make a formal announcement: we have down sized our herd quite a bit over the last year. 2019-2020 was a difficult and trying year for us. We have made the decision that we will NOT be breeding our senior doe we currently have and will not be having 2021 kids. We retained 2 2020 doe kids, Neely pictured below who was out of our late doe, Tuukka, and also retained Molly Jones out of our 3yr old doe Anna Belle. We plan to keep them into the winter.
We currently have many things keeping time restricted to manage the larger show herd we had in the past and we reevaluate next spring.
Thank you to the families that bought our 2 bucklings this year, and to all those who provided homes for our bucks, werhers, and does over the last 15 years. 🐐

**** PSA from our farm and family. ****
The word farm may bring to mind an open public place to stop in and see what is available for stock or food and business however, most "farms" are private residents such as ours can not accommodate drop in visitors- we like the privacy of our property. Dont forget we are in a PANDEMIC and have even minimized contact with those are customers scheduled to purchase. Please refer to our website and photos on this page to view the herd. We so not have any animals for sale this year. At all. No discussion. We appreciated email and phone call but we are busy and will return your call when we can. Thank you
