A big thanks to Kathy Wells for keeping our kids going while Abi is away on maternity leave! Iris, Bella, and Sami kicked off the BCHSA season this past Saturday at St. Timothy's School with improvement in every course and some good ribbons!

Thank you to Matt, Skylar, Renn, Miranda, and the rest of the St. Timothy's staff for keeping the ring running and doing a great job.

We have an important update! Maternity leave for Abi starts next week. Thanks to a great team the horses will be handled and lessons covered for boarders during leave. Messages regarding boarding, lessons, and training will be answered upon Abi's return in June.

We have a RARE opening for someone to join our show team either with half leases available on the farm or bringing your own horse to board. We are a boutique barn in Baltimore County, MD specializing in show hunters. We attend local and regional hunter shows in the area. The members of our show team are very supportive of each other as we work towards personal growth and create educated horsemen.

When students rely on one particular aid, I like to take it away. In this case it was hanging on the reins for a false sense of security. Adding the macarena made them focus on something aside from the fact that they weren't holding the reins. It is also good for some laughs.

Side note: neither of these two knew the macarena so I am officially old.

Congratulations to our riders who competed at the HHSA Medal Finals and Derby last weekend.

Natalie and HABANERO finished out her final junior season with a 5th place finish in the Horse Medal.

Saylor and DADDY'S BOAT MONEY competed in their second show together, finishing 5th in the Pony Medal and just out of the ribbons in 9th for the Pony Derby.

Chloe and INTRIGUE walked away with 3rd place in the Pre Child/Adult Medal and rode in their first Derby course together.

Sami and RH ROWDY BOY had a fantastic day winning the Pre Child/Adult Medal and finishing 7th in a competitive field of 30 for the Horse Derby.

As a braider, I appreciate the hard work of our braiders! The fairies who magically turn your ponies into steeds over night deserve to be recognized! I sponsored a Best Braider award today at the HHSA Medals and Derby and my good friend Kira Gainey came out to be our judge.

The winner was Jaime Williams for her work on the gorgeous Keynote ( Taylor Herzog ). In second were Lauren van Dam and Zabelle van Dam who tag teamed stunning braids on Talk Show Man ( Lindy Gutman ). And in third was myself with the braids on RH Rowdy Boy ( Erica Epple ).

A huge thank you to all the braiders who work tirelessly over this weekend and many others throughout the year to turn the horses out so beautifully at the horse shows.

In ONE WEEK competitors will be entering the ring at the Harford Horse Shows Association Medal Finals and Derby. We are excited to see everyone with white socks, polished boots, and shiny coats! Spend a little extra time currying your horse, scrubbing those legs and shining your boots for your chance to win Best Turned Out. There may even be a surprise for the best braids. 😉

Our annual trip to Ludwig's Corner Show Grounds was a success! We all had so much fun and added a few ribbons to our collections. In huge classes with 25-35 entries, the competition is tough, and every rider came home with placings in multiple classes. Three of our riders even managed to secure a blue ribbon for their walls!

I was so proud of how every rider stepped up to help take care of their horses and help each other. Especially when we had to put "all hands on deck" to get to the show ring on time. The days are long and the memories made were worth it!

To top it off, I got a call from management Monday night letting me know I had been selected to win the Emerging Trainer award! This award was selected by the gate starters as they watched all of the trainers through the weekend. I was told the vote for me was unanimous. 😍

Hey Everyone!

With the recent deaths in the horse community related to rotational falls, we have decided to bring an expert in Air Vests and safety technology.

Bruce from Protect 2 Ride LLC is coming to the farm to give a demonstration of how the air vest works. If anyone is interested in purchasing a vest from him he will fit it to you and show you how to properly attach it to your saddle, etc.

He carries the vest brands Hit-Air, Airowear, Charles Owen & Tipperary.

Bruce will be here Saturday 6/15 at 9am and anyone is welcome to come learn. It's completely free to watch the demonstration and learn. No purchase necessary but they are available.

We had a successful day at the Elkridge Harford Hunt Club horse show. The Baltimore County Agricultural Center was a fantastic venue with great footing for the horses. Thank you to everyone who worked to put on this great show!

RH ROWDY BOY and Sami were Champion Novice Equitation and Champion Hopeful Hunter.

DADDYS BOAT MONEY and Sydney were Reserve Champion Novice Equitation with good places in both Hopeful and PreChildrens Hunter.

BLUEGRASS DEMON and Bella were Reserve Champion Pleasure Horse in only their second show together.

HABANERO and Natalie came away with top three placings in both Equitation and Low Children's Hunter.
