Skillman Stables is a boutique farm located in Upper Falls, MD! We offer boarding, training, lessons. Welcome to Skillman Stables! Your first time? No problem!

We are a boutique riding facility that can board, care for and train your horse. We offer lessons to a large variety of riders. Our skilled trainers have 15+ years in riding and training. We specialize in new riders ages 2 and older. Been riding for a while? We have the ability to help you further your riding skills and become the rider you were meant to be. Our main focus is to spark a passion fo

r horses while creating good horsemen with a strong work ethic. We plan to have a lot of laughs while learning! In our boutique setting riders will receive lesson plans personalized to their specific goals. We had a fantastic weekend at Colonial Classic! The staff and exhibitors were all friendly and so excited to be showing there. We are so glad it was a different weekend than Ludwigs so we could be a part of it this year!

Lauren van Dam and Intrigue stole the show with Champion Adult Amateur 3', Champion Adult Equitation, 2nd in the 3' Derby narrowly missing the blue to some great competition, and Best Adult Rider!

Sarah Arjoon and Daddy's Boat Money came to their first Colonial Classic and ribboned in every Long Stirrup class out of a large group while also putting in one of their best over fences rounds to date.

We will have 2 rare board openings coming available November 1 at our boutique facility in Upper Falls, MD. Our facility boasts an outdoor arena with lights and jumps, fields to hack in, small trails connected to the property, outdoor wash stalls, dry lots with auto water, run in sheds with lights and fans, and rotational grazing.

We provide feed twice a day, free choice grass hay grown on property, owner supplied supplements, blanket changes, holding for the farrier if using the barn farrier, and hands on care every day. Our small facility allows us to individualize the care to each horse's needs.

We are a hunter show barn who shows locally at HHSA and BCHSA shows as well as a few other shows in the area. We do have students looking to half lease on property, if that is of interest. Lessons are required with board.

Congratulations to the Skillman Stables show team on a great year! This past year all of our riders decided to go to different venues with new competition rather than chase points in one association. Even with showing 5 or less times in HHSA, the girls all came home with prizes.

A huge thank you to the HHSA board and volunteers who made this past season and banquet possible. Thank you to all of the venues and managers who put on quality local shows in our area. Thank you to our clients who put in the hard work every day to come out better than they were before, as riders, horsemen, and humans.

As we look forward to 2026 we are excited for the new partnerships, new friends, and new experiences we will have.

This week we have worked on having a solid base and correct balance over fences. Starting on the flat we work without stirrups and reins, then move to jumping small x rails before moving on to a small vertical. The main ideas are for the riders to trust themselves and their horses and well as feel how to hold their own bodies over the jump without relying on the horse to hold them up.

These lucky two were the only ones riding when Daniel came out with his camera. Everyone else has made it by without photo evidence 😂😉

We had a great day at Molly Hill last weekend!

Lucy and DADDY'S BOAT MONEY started us off with 2nd and 3rd in Hopeful Hunter for their first show back after Lucy's knee surgery.

Sydney and WICKED HALLUCINATIONS pinned 2nd and 3rd in Pre Childrens Hunter while also winning the Pre Childrens Medal.

Grace and WICKED HALLUCINATIONS brought home her first Champion ribbon with two blues and two reds in Beginner Equitation.

Sarah and BLUE RIDGE RISE AND SHINE won primary colors in Special Hunter for their second show together.

Jen and CHOOSE JULIA won three of the four Special Hunter classes to bring home Champion, along with a few happy tears.

Bella and GM'S AS YOU WISH won the Pony Medal and had good courses in the 2'6 pony hunters.

Chloe and INTRIGUE were 1, 2, 3 in the Low Childrens Hunter walking away with Reserve Champion and had a clean sweep of the Low Hunter for Champion.

This show had a Teal Out class to support Ovarian Cancer Research so we decked ourselves and our horses out in teal for the day in support of one of our barn moms.

Ludwigs Corner Fair 2025! We had a great weekend and could not have asked for better weather.

GM's As You Wish and Bella had some of their best trips to date, including jumping around their first derby with no schooling.

Intrigue and Chloe made huge improvements from last year winning both the Equitation and hunter under saddle classes and pinning in every over fences.

Wicked Hallucinations and Sydney had two good flat rides making it into the call back of two huge flat classes. They also laid down a fabulous trip to earn 4th of 54 in the 2' derby.

RH Rowdy Boy and Sami won several over fences classes on their way to Champion Low Childrens Hunter.

Wicked Hallucinations and Abi played in the 2'9" Thoroughbred bringing home Reserve Champion.

Intrigue and Abi had two good over fences trips and won the flat in a very competitive Low Hunter division.

Battle Aray and Lauren van Dam were 3rd in the 1.10 speed stake and completed their first 1.25m mini prix CLEAR!

It takes a village to have a successful weekend and we have a great one. Thank you to all of our girls and parents for helping each other, Daniel for taking photos, and the entire staff at Ludwigs for being kind and keeping the show running smoothly.

We had a long, hot, successful day at the The Cecil County Fair with all of our riders doing something new! It was Grace's first horse show, Sydney, Bella, and Iris all moved up in divisions with their horses, and Natalie and Sami stepped into the 2'6 Hunter Derby taking the high options. We came home with multiple tricolors and a few sashes! Onto the Summer Sizzle August 2nd.

Thank you to all the volunteers who work so hard to put on the Cecil County Fair open show. The classes were huge and they managed to fit everyone in before it was completely dark. Its also always fun to see familiar faces out and about.

We had a fantastic day showing at McDonogh! As always, the rings and courses were great. The staff was helpful, organized, and kind. They even had a table of refreshments and sunscreen for everyone at the show!

Intrigue and Lauren van Dam started off the day with two blues and a Reserve Champion ribbon in Adult Amateur Hunter.

Intrigue and Iris Hamilton then brought home three blues and the Champion ribbon in the Low Children's Hunter.

GMs As You Wish and Bella Mohr brought home a slew of primary colors in the Pony Hunters and a second in the Pony Medal.

Lauren van Dam piloted Dream On GSF around his first ever courses and finished with a 3rd, 4th, and 6th in a large group of Hopeful Hunters.

Sydney Bagwell and Wicked Hallucinations had successful courses, with ribbons in every class, in a large group of Pre Childrens Hunters.
