Friends of Upland Animal Shelter Friends of Upland Animal Shelter (Friends) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit charitable organization.

We believe in the dignity of every life, and that every adoptable animal should receive the care and patience that is necessary to find a loving home. We offer a number of programs and initiatives to improve the lives of abandoned animals, reunite them with their owners, or find them new, forever homes, including:

Low-cost adoptions
Quality medical care for shelter animals
Training for new pet owners
Educational programs
Low cost spay/neuter programs
Free micro-chipping for Upland residents

🐾 Dakota is thriving in foster care! 🐾

When Dakota first arrived at the shelter, she was a quiet, shy senior girl who needed a little time to trust. Look at her now. 💕

Thanks to a loving foster home, Dakota is settling in beautifully. She’s been relaxing in her cozy bed, peacefully meeting neighboring dogs through the fence, and showing everyone just how sweet and gentle she truly is.

At nearly 9 years old, Dakota isn’t looking for adventure every minute of the day. She’s looking for something even better:

🏡 A comfortable home
❤️ A patient family
🐶 A calm environment where she can continue to blossom

Dakota walks well on leash, knows basic commands, is good with cats, and has a calm, loving personality. Once she feels safe, she becomes a loyal companion who just wants to be near her people.

Her foster family is helping us see the real Dakota, and we know her perfect match is out there.

Remember Gemma? Well, these days she’s answering to Nyx and it sounds like she’s settled into her new life perfectly! ❤️

Her family recently shared an update, and our hearts couldn’t be happier:

Benny (IEPA-A-17501) is a handsome 5-year-old Husky mix with the perfect combination of energy and affection. While he loves a good game of fetch and would thrive in an active home, he’s also a total lap dog who enjoys relaxing with his favorite people. ❤️

This smart, treat-motivated boy walks well on leash, knows basic commands, and is eager to keep learning. Benny is a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and isn’t shy about sharing his thoughts. Like many Huskies, he’s a little chatty and full of personality! 🗣️🐺
