TRRAC - Thoroughbred Retirement, Rehabilitation and Careers

TRRAC - Thoroughbred Retirement, Rehabilitation and Careers TRRAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit program that facilitates safe retirement of horses from horse racing. We have a horse for everyone!

TRRAC - Thoroughbred Retirement, Rehabilitation, and Careers is a thoroughbred aftercare program dedicated to providing dignified retirement, safety, and adoption to thoroughbred racehorses once they are retired from their racing careers. TRRAC places retired thoroughbreds in new, approved homes while offering proper downtime, retirement, retraining, and if need be, rehabilitation. TRRAC horses ar

e evaluated for soundness, mentality, and suitability in new careers while being trained as well as shown in events such as paper chasing, fox hunting, hunters, dressage, eventing, jumpers, and pleasure riding. All horses who come through our program are fully evaluated and are up to date on their vaccinations, shoeing, dental floats, and nutrition plans. We re-start our horses with professional trainers, with many achieving careers in upper-level showing. All our horses are offered permanent sanctuary at Maui Meadow Farm at any time they need to return. TRRAC currently offers training solutions for owners, as well as volunteer, showing, and riding opportunities. All horses are available to meet and ride by appointment. Sign unseen options available Let us take care of all the paperwork and hassle. Know the horse you are receiving is represented honestly by a reputable re-homing organization. 😍 Welcome to Tio Pachi!
Tio Pachi sure wasn’t much of a race horse. With 3 starts and only 900 in earnings 💴 , his connections retired him so he could go on to bigger and better things. Tio Pachi is a BIG 17.0h gelding sired by Catholic Boy out of a Quality Road mare. This horse has major presence and is super friendly towards everyone he meets!

Tio Pachi was recommended to have 30 days off. He is also a youngster, foaled in 2022- we can’t believe how big his as a three year old already!

Drop a ❤️ to show him your support for a bright future!

🦄 Mine Run has been seeking a new home for a while now. Mine Run is a 2020 gelding by Golden Lad out of a Jump Start mare (we love the breeding!) He arrived to our program a few months ago and was a bit foot sore and in need of a few shoeing cycles. He also went through a major growth spurt, he turned into a beefy hunk!

🌟 Mine Run is good to groom, bathe and tack up. He had his first ride since retiring from the track in July of 2024, yesterday. He tacked up quietly and headed out to the arena (which is FAR from the barn) alone. He was so quiet we didn’t even bother to lunge him and we hopped right on.

🐎 This guy rode quietly with a lofty trot and canter on the buckle. He could care less he was alone and even tackled some ground rails and cavelettis before riding back (a long way back) to the barn on the buckle.

📍 Mine is available with more information on our website! Apply for him today.

❤Humans Behind the Horses❤
I would like everyone to meet Laura Bradley. She plays a major role in the lives of the TRRAC horses and this organization. She is at our Oxford, PA facility pretty much everyday - feeding, giving medications, turning horses out and cleaning A LOT of stalls. We are so lucky to have her!

"I started riding with Bobbi Senger Winter and Jimmy McClean, who helped me find a barn where I could catch-ride ponies. I spent several years riding with Lynda Brotemarkle and her ponies before moving to The Phelps School in Malvern, PA. There, I worked as an assistant trainer and instructor with Fred Alleva. It was during this time that I was introduced to Thoroughbreds and fell in love with their personality and athleticism.

I bought my first Thoroughbred at the age of 19 and never looked back. Eventually, I left Phelps and the show world to pursue a career in the horse racing industry. I worked on a farm in Unionville, where I broke young horses for the track and handled breeding stock. It was there that I met my husband, Jim, and together we started our own Thoroughbred business. We bred and bought Thoroughbreds while raising a family.

We experienced both successes and failures—an inevitable part of working with horses—but our proudest moment came when our last homebred was named Champion Thoroughbred at Devon three times. Later, I spent a few years teaching and coaching junior riders with John Muldoon at Reinbows End Farm, while our youngest child showed ponies on the circuit.

But my heart has always belonged to the Thoroughbred. I now love working with our Thoroughbreds at TRRAC and made the decision to retire from corporate life to return full-time to the thing I love most. You can find me at the Oxford facility nearly every day—please feel free to stop by for a visit."

Makayla and Point Pelee had a wonderful outing today hacking in the ring. This beautiful gelding is a dream to work with. Although green, he complies with every request we ask of him. Pelee is wonderful for the vet and farrier, trailers nicely, stands on cross ties, tacks up quietly and stands at the mounting block. Pelee has no limitations and no vices- he’s such a nice horse!

Inquire today about bringing him home!

Another episode of ❤Humans Behind the Horses❤
I would like everyone to meet Judy! Her love and passion for these horses and animals is amazing.

"I first started volunteering with TRRAC in 2020 when Nina was kind enough to take a horse to Pocopson Nursing Home for the residents to see. I became the treat queen, showing up to spoil the horses. As a child, I would try and save any animal I found. I started in rescue with dogs in the 80's and still save senior, hospice and time-stamped dogs - I have fostered and saved hundreds. I have done farm work on and off for many years and jumped at the chance to come work for TRRAC in 2024 . Every horse that comes through has 100% been treated like it is my own - I am always giving lots of kisses and treats. My philosophy is that animals are better than people 😂. "

But don't be mistaken by her philosophy... she also has helped feed the homeless in Philadelphia for years ❤.

❤The Humans Behind the Horses❤
I would like everyone to meet Makayla! She is 15 years old and has been spending a lot of her free time volunteering for TRRAC. She is amazing with the horses and we appreciate her hard work and dedication so much!

"My name is Makayla. I met Nina early in 2025 when boarding my retired pony with her. I’ve always loved thoroughbreds and I loved meeting the horses who came in and out of the barn. I started volunteering in April. I love meeting and working with so many different horses and dedicating my time to horses that need it. I’ve ridden in competitive hunter/jumpers, dabbled in dressage and liberty as well as IEA. I bought my first horse in 2023, an unraced thoroughbred and he taught me so much. I am grateful to get the opportunity to work with such great horses and people."
