Our organization is a low kill/no kill shelter and we NEVER euthanize animals to make room for additional animals. The shelter is not able to accept visibly sick or injured animals and we cannot pick up stray animals. The shelter cannot accept feral or wild animals. We define "feral" as cats and dogs that cannot be held without trying to scratch, bite or get away. If you would like to volunteer, we'd love to have you! Contact us via email or give us a call.

Say hello to Bob! He’s an adorable 2+year-old male Domestic Short Hair cat with a charming grey tabby coat. Bob is all set to find his forever home—he's up to date on vaccinations, has been neutered, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS. Although he may be a bit shy at first, once Bob warms up, he’s an absolute sweetheart! He gets along well with other cats too. He has been at the shelter since he was just a kitten and will make a loving companion. If you think Bob would be a great fit for your home, come visit him at the shelter!

"Diamonds are a girl's best friend." Could this sweet and friendly gem be your next BFF? Diamond is a sweet, happy-go-lucky lab/bully mix around 10 months old. Her leash manners are pretty good for a pup her age, and she seems to get along with other dogs. She's spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and did test positive for heartworm.

So, aside from being so cuddly and adorable, what other reason do you need to take her home? How about a reduced adoption fee? This is the last week of our Empty The Shelter Reduced Adoption Fee Event. If you think Diamond could be your BFF, don't wait! Fill out that adoption application, which can be found on our website.

MONDAY'S SHELTER ANIMAL MYTH: ADOPTION FEES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE

While it may be a matter of personal opinion, it’s worth noting all the care that animal shelters and rescues provide for their pets. They invest time and money to obtain, house, feed, and medically care for each animal, which can exceed $500. So getting a pet for a fee of $100-$125 here at ASCAS (or even less during our Empty The Shelter Event) is a fantastic deal! Most shelters also include heartworm tests, flea preventatives, and essential vaccinations, adding even more value. It'll be extremely difficult to find a dog or cat from a breeder or pet store for a similar price, and you’ll feel great knowing you’re saving a life!

Did you know that July has been designated as National Dog House Repair Month? (Again, not making it up) Forget the duct tape, we went straight into new construction mode, which would not have been possible without all of you who have donated towards or directly donated doghouses for our canines. (Trapper here is our foreman)

Here are just a few of the recently completed homes now occupied by Shenzi, Luther (hiding), and Beckett.
