👉 Also need a recovery foster for little Honey fka Trouble who's the sweetest little pup and is currently still receiving treatment for parvo, but we're looking ahead to have a soft place for him to land as he hopefully continues his recovery once released.

🐶 Forever Foster 🆚 Adoption

In adoption, the family takes on financial responsibility. With Forever Foster, the rescue keeps that responsibility, so the person doesn’t have to worry about unexpected costs, and even gets extra supports. But for the dog, it feels exactly like adoption - they finally have a forever home! 🏠

I am thrilled to announce that we are just over four weeks away from hosting a fantastic event at BackYard Barnyard, courtesy of the JuneBug Foundation Inc., a local non-profit organization that I founded in honor of my daughter, who has cerebral palsy. Our mission is to provide support to families within our community and surrounding areas, specifically assisting children with special needs and health challenges by providing medical supplies and equipment, sensory items for in-home therapeutic spaces, and aid to families with children undergoing extended hospital stays.

Backyard Barnyard is a petting zoo and farm in Mount Morris committed to enriching its community by providing a fun and eventful atmosphere for children and families to enjoy. The facility offers a diverse range of outdoor activities, including a 70-foot long racing obstacle course bounce house, a large sand pit, kid- and adult-friendly ax throwing, a rock climbing wall, duck racing, this year they added a brand new zip line and have so many more fun activities. Backyard Barnyard hosts various events, such as Community Dollar Day, which recently drew over 500 attendees, adult fun nights, and an upcoming backpack drive on August 2nd, as posted on their page. They truly are a great place to visit and have fun. The owners will have you leaving with a smile on your face and wanting to come back for more.

We currently have 36 vendors for Family Fun Day. We have animal rescues, craft, Avon, 3D art, and laser engraving. Face painting, cotton candy, hair jewelry, charm candle makers, crocheted characters, lemonade, pretzel makers, kids' bracelet makers - oh, I could go on and on. So much fun stuff to shop for kids and, of course, adults. Vendor spots and admission into the event are being donated directly to the JuneBug Foundation, and proceeds from this event are going to help a local family in Mount Morris. We are helping a beautiful, full-of-life, brilliant girl get an electric wheelchair, which we've already established for them. Now, proceeds from this event will help us redo their handicap ramp on their house and also help purchase a transportation ramp for their vehicle. Since starting to work with the family back in June, they have been so grateful for what they have received and will be receiving.

We got another call from someone at emergency and their pup had just been dx with parvo

Sadly they waited 3-4 days before seeking treatment. He’s in poor shape but we are trying to save him. We need YOU!

We can only hospitalize overnight - we need more funding

We need a foster to help nurse him back to health and we are in need of funding to help try to save this sweet guy.

Local Surrenders
HELP US HELP THEM! 🥲
(three are extra-heartbreaking) 💔 But ALLneed fosters

We've been asked to help for these local dogs and we cannot find fosters for these 4 yet - help us help them make a new future!

HARVEY - super sweet one year old medium mix, he's been at the vet's recovering since he was taken in after having been beaten and punched within an inch of his life; broken leg etc recovering, he's a fav of the vet's office but is facing euthanasia if we can't take him into rescue (and we need a foster home for him to do that) Vet says he’s been good with all other dogs he’s encountered while there 👍🏻

HANk - another sad case, a good Samaritan neighbor took this friendly year-old heeler mix (think Bluey's mom) in after the owner threatened to shut him up with a shovel bc of his barking (he was left in his crate pretty much 24/7 in a hot tiny trailer); he's an awesome, friendly boy with lots of energy and love to give! Neighbor is caring for him for now but can't let him inside their home because of extra-protective dogs of their own - he needs to be in a home and experience what real family life and couch lounging is all about!

"LUCKY" (gosh, we HATE that name for dogs, it's like a curse 98% of the time!) - sweet 4 month old male puppy saved off the streets by a lovely lady from heading to the shelter - but she recently got a kidney transplant and the transplant is rejecting so she's bed-bound and wants a better life for her rescued pup.

SECADA - Registered German Shorthaired Pointer, female, year old - good with people including school-aged kids, other dogs

LUNA Border Collie Great Pyrenees mix - very friendly and sweet beautiful female 6 years old who keeps escaping her owner's fence and is getting them in trouble with AC

👑 HAIL TO THE QUEENIE! 👑
Queenie has been with us for over two years. She’s happy, silly, loyal, and doesn’t love other dogs all up in her stuff (who can relate?). But she does enjoy playing with many other dogs away from her home. 🐾
She may not be everyone’s idea of “adoptable,” but to the right person, she’ll be the best decision they ever made! 🥰
She is completely housetrained and non destructive in the home. She is an amazing sweet lovable girl and a volunteer favorite. She would easily fit in most single pet homes and is “turn key” only thing missing is you!
✨ Queenie is now eligible for our Forever Foster Program, where all care is covered by SHDR for life - you just bring the heart.

UPDATE LITTLE BOY BANKS IS EATING AND DRINKING!!

Hey Gentle Followers:😳🆘🛟🆘😳

🏳️🏳️🏳️ I want to wave the flag of surrender, my body is being pushed to its limits, emotionally, physically, and mentally.

You might not realize this but our rescue is one of the only rescues that posts our direct cell phone number to the director, owner, (me Wendy) so when we get the dozens of calls, some days nearly a hundred calls, they are being answered by a real live person who will talk to you that minute. It doesn’t matter if there’s 7 other fires going on or the aging parent in a senior home is struggling with mental illness crisis, the phone is answered. Many times the plea is trying to rehome a pet, or even a medical emergency that is a matter of life or death.

Yesterday came that call in the midst of an adoption home visit for one of the horribly neglected doodles we saved from a puppy mill in Anjelica NY 4 weeks ago today. I had spent several hours helping to transition Funyun to her new home and when my phone rang at 4:05pm I could have ignored it as I was watching Funyun enjoy being a dog with her new kids, but as I do, I answered the call.

On the other end was a young woman begging for help with a pup she had recently taken in that was currently at REVS (emergency vet) Baby Boy Banks had the deadly parvovirus. A death sentence without proper treatment. She didn’t have the money to treat him completely and was quoted 3000 to hospitalize him. Some of you might recall Goose from last month who also was suffering from Parvo, who we (along with 716Paws) helped treat with the monoclonal antibody shot and supportive care. He made a full recovery!

With tears in my eyes I told the girl that we would try to do the same for Banks. The only thing was that Banks is a bigger boy than Goose and I only had a single 10lb dose left here in Rochester.

The other 2 vials we needed were in Buffalo.

I called our 🤘🎸🧨 bomb rockstar vets at York animal hospital who are lifesavers of the best kind!!

They agreed to administer the antibody shots like they did for Goose and were SOO AMAZBALLS to get us in that night! The problem was that I was in Webster and the meds were in Buffalo and the hospital closed at 8 pm (plus I was supposed to get 2 pups to a vacay foster)

By 5:07 the arrangements were made and I zoomed from one side of western NY and working together we got Baby Banks the lifesaving shots and other supportive care he needed at York

This morning we got the news that he’s active and drinking water!!!

Another life saved thanks to fabulous people

What’s not so fabulous is the huge vet bills we are racking up
