August 3rd was the SMDA Summer Breeze show in Hollis, ME where four of our horses trucked over for the quaint one day show. Karen Wilson and Idola B knocked it out of the park first thing that morning and won the FEI Test of Choice class at PSG with a 67.206% !!! This was their best and highest scoring PSG test and we were all over the moon with how this pair owned that arena! Huge congratulations for Karen who put in such a lovely test after so much hard work this season!

Carly Neilson and Atterupgaards Manilla had a tough act to follow in the FEI ring after Karen, but the pair rode their I1 test and had some lovely moments for a final score of 63.971%. Jackie Smith and Bella Primera beat them out by a point in the I1 with a score of a 64.412%. It was a busy beginning of the day for the three ladies and mares!

Vickie Kahn-Sinclair and De La Vie Bang also brought home a blue ribbon that morning. The duo rode first level test three and earned a score of 76.389%! It was a very productive Sunday morning at a relaxed and well run show. Thank you Southern Maine Dressage Association for all of your hard work so we have these local shows to attend!

The next horse show stop on the schedule was GMHA July! Abigail White and Friendship made their way to Vermont for their first ever show together. Abby and Freddie have had a long two years of building a partnership and getting Freddie fit and strong in his work which lead up to this weekend together. The pair showed on Friday in the third level test three class and won first place with a score of 62%! Saturday they rode the third three again for a score of 65.625% and took home another blue ribbon. It is so rewarding to see these two out in the show ring together especially knowing how much Freddie has overcome to be healthy and strong enough to compete. Congratulations Abby and Freddie, here's to an exciting new chapter together not only at home but also in the show ring! As always it takes a village and Freddie is lucky to have his team behind him which helped to make all of this possible 💪⭐️

Life's A Ride in S**o, ME has become a great midsummer show destination for many riders! July 18th Karen Wilson and her mare Idola B headed down centerline for their first New England PSG! The pair dusted off their boots after the winter season in Florida and scored a respectable 60.882%. Saturday Karen and Idola improved their score by three points, finishing off the weekend with a 63.529%!

Trainer and coach Jackie Smith with Bella Primera put in a lovely I1 test Saturday and finished 2nd in the FEI TOC with a 65.882%. Many improvements had been made since their GMHA debut and it was nice to see their hard work pay off!

Vickie Kahn-Sinclair and De La Vie Bang continued to decorate their stall front in blue ribbons from another successful two days showing. Friday the pair rode second level test one for a 70.143% followed by a first level test three scoring a 75.278% . Saturday they continued their winning streak with a second level test three, finishing with a 72.262% and earning another well deserved first place. Vie was a wonderful girl and keeps proving she's the perfect balance of beauty and grace!

The summer has flown per usual, and we are behind on highlighting so many show successes within the barn this season. For the next six days we're going to give everyone the personal shout out they've been deserving for all of their hard work!

The first show of the New England season for Longfellow was GMHA June for four of our horses. Vickie Kahn-Sinclair debuted her new exciting partner De La Vie Bang, 6 year old Danish WB mare, with great success. After just 6 weeks together they were Adult Amateur High Point at First and Second level with three scores in the 70’s. Vickie and Vie took home three blue ribbons with a 70.833% Friday at 1-3, 71.143% Friday at 2-1, and a 70.694% Saturday at 1-3. Most importantly Vie was so sensible and well behaved at her first recognized show in the States which is a great start to this budding relationship!

Jackie Smith took out her Oldenburg mare Bella Primera at I1 and had two lovely rides Friday and Sunday. The duo placed 2nd both days and had scores of 62.868% and 60.956%. It was nice to see Jackie and Becky out and about for the season!

Vickie Kolenda's Midt-West Prime Time made the big jump from PSG to I2 so this was his debut at "large tour" vs small. Ridden and trained by Carly Neilson, the pair put in two solid tests Friday and Saturday and had 7 & 7.5's in the piaffe and passage work. Friday they had some costly mistakes in the change lines as well as pirouettes which landed them a 59.706%. Determined on Saturday to fix their mistakes, they cleaned up the pirouettes and showed off that trot at the end for several 8's and an 8.5 for the final halt. They had a score of 66.324% from one judge and a 60.000% from the other which averaged a 63.162%. It was a great first outing for Timmy's first I2 and he came home with two blue ribbons!

Carly Neilson's Atterupgaards Manilla made her season debut at I1 that Saturday and Sunday and went in with the ridability so much improved from past seasons that it already was a great experience for this team. They had many 7's in the trot and walk work with the canter being their struggle, but the two still earned a few 7's in the extended canter and single changes which was rewarding.

It was a fun start to the summer season at a gorgeous venue per usual! Thank you to groom extroridinaire and wonderful boarder Alyssa for helping to get all of our horses down centerline on time and looking their best!!
