Happy Friday, everybody!
We've got a very large pup transport coming next week and need to make some room! SO, all of our pups are going to be "on sale" this weekend! Starting today, all dogs are half off and our GUPPYs have sponsored fees, so they are free! We will, of course, graciously accept any donation over this, but now is your chance to get an F&C pup and really help other ones waiting to come in! People, my people!
The last 23 days have resulted in a transformation that I would not have believed was real if she weren't with us. If anybody ever asks what our mission is, simply put, the answer is Cakepop.
She is living with such abandon and joy, and appetite, that it's amazing to watch. We will determine at her spay if she needs anything done with the tissue on her eye, but for now we will stay the course and celebrate that she is officially out of the woods!

We're so fortunate that organizations like PetSmart Charities exist in this world. Their relentless commitment to supporting the animal welfare community never ceases to amaze us, and our Rescue Center has experienced first hand the difference their grant program can make in the lives of homeless animals.

Thanks to an incredibly generous transport grant from PetSmart Charities, our Rescue Center will be transporting 2,000 homeless dogs and cats out of rural Alabama and up to adoption centers where they can find their forever families.

Dogs like Blondie, Marisol and Puffin are just a few of the many lucky pups who will benefit from this grant. Please know that when you shop at PetSmart and choose to donate at the register when you check out - it truly does make a difference. Those dollars go directly to the animals, and for that, we couldn't be more grateful.

We are less than one month away from the celebration of the year! Our 2nd Annual BooyaBash is on Thursday August 14th and man, do we have a fun night planned! There's an open bar with a signature Tito's drink, awesome eats and so many great raffle/auction items! The best part of the gig, being surrounded with like minded BooyaBuddies who will love listening to you drone on about the fabulous cat or dog you adopted from us! Make sure to get your tickets soon and print out a pic of your beloved pet to attach to our giant Booya Board! I cannot wait to celebrate with you all and hug whoever will let me!!! Woohoo!

Hey everybody! We could really use your help in finding this cat a good home.
Peppermint Mocha came into our care with four other cats just a few weeks shy of Christmas. It was an absolute Christmas miracle that these five babies were so open and friendly with our staff, as they were stuffed in duffle bags and dumped on our steps at 8:00AM in the morning in 10 degree weather. Despite the whirlwind of trauma these kids faced, they allowed us to take them in and help them begin a new journey of life, one filled with loads of snacks and snuggles. Peppermint Mocha is 5 years old and full of life! You may notice an eye missing, but he sure doesn't. After a few months of observation, our veterinarian decided that removing his left eye would improve his quality of life. She was correct, and Peppermint Mocha has been having a blast on the cat floor. All he needs are a few toys and some wet food, and this boy is ready to party! Peppermint could go into a home by himself, with a cat, dog, OR both! The options for this man are ENDLESS, so if you think Peppermint Mocha would gel into your life, email Samantha at [email protected]!

12 days.
In rescue, we sometimes need to be reminded just how much difference a large amount of love and care and a small amount of time can make for our animals. Some come in terrified and need to catch their breath for a second and wind up goofy and joyous! Some come in exhausted and on high alert from trying to survive outside and become fiercely loyal and grateful.
Some come in so sickly you fear the possible outcomes and bounce back seemingly amnesiac and go on to live long, healthy lives. While I can't predict the future, I can tell you that it seems that Cakepop is headed towards an amazing life full of play and joy. Crazy. Thank you so much for your support. She deserved it.
Enjoy this update and remember 12 short days from then to now.
