Alex strongly believes in taking opportunities to expand her own knowledge and continues to grow as an individual and trainer. She works closely with Jessica Wisdom on a monthly basis to help check in with her own riding and training. Attending symposiums and clinics regularly as a rider or auditor whenever she can is a large part of her continued education and desire to be the best trainer and coach she can be for her horses and riders. In 2019 Alex was chosen for the Through the Levels Symposium with Axel Steiner (2nd level) held at Donida Farm, as well as the Cindy Ishoy Clinic (3rd level). She encourages her students to attend clinics as much as possible as she feels everyone has something to teach and learn from others. Regardless of your goals with your horse, dressage can help you reach them. Alex teaches a wide variety of horses and riders of different disciplines and enjoys working with anyone who wants to learn and grow. Her training program is diverse as she believes a happy athlete is one who is exposed to a multitude of environments. Trail rides and cavaletti work are a laid back and fun way to switch up the monotony of arena work. Its imperative that our dressage partners feel a sense of joy in their work and Alex strives to help each individual find their perfect program where they will shine.

Such a fun and special weekend at Whidbey Equestrian Center. I have had the plasure of riding and developing this exceptional horse with someone who has become a very special and dear friend.
Laura Rising reached out to me shortly after I put Remi down and asked if I was interested in helping her with Soli. Her generosity, kindness and compassion to share such a talented and special horse is something I will never be able to thank her for enough. ❤️ He is an absolute joy to work with and makes me laugh every day - even when I probably shouldn’t be laughing… He is so incredibly special and has talent and potential oozing out of him. To be trusted to shape and nurture him by another professional is really really special.
Laura - you are an amazing human and even more special trainer. Thank you for allowing me to come in and giving me a place where I’ve been able to truly find the fun and joy in training again. Trusting me and my ridiculous ideas with a horse who is as special and loved as Soli is something that I will never be able to fully thank you for.
To have someone tell you that they loved watching you on another horse who holds such a special place in your heart (Benjamin ❤️) and they want to see you out in the show ring on a horse that they feel has just as much ability and talent is really really special. This is just the beginning! 🥰🤩
I've had so much fun for the year and a half journey of working to get him to the place he is in now making his show debut.

Grateful to be trusted as his emotional support party girl ✨🪩

Finishing his show weekend debut with 73.056% at 1-3, 66.00% at 2-1 on Saturday and 68.00% at 2-1 on Sunday. We get to do it all again in 2 weeks!

: Even professionals know when they need help. I don’t mean coaching; everyone needs coaching. But from time to time, even the pros need to get some outside assistance with the development of a horse that isn’t just lessons. I have my coach sit on my horses from time to time to check my work, and when I feel something isn’t going the right way or doesn’t feel good, I call her in. I’m not as good with the initial starting of piaffe from the ground as my friend Jess is, so she starts all mine. And recently one of my horses decided he wasn’t loading on the trailer anymore, and my bag of tricks to teach safe loading didn’t have the answer in it; I had a specialist come help.

It doesn’t mean you’re bad or dumb; it means you need an inning of relief pitching from a fresh arm, or a new perspective, or just that someone else will get you through a situation faster, better and safer 👯‍♀️

Such a fun way to spend this past weekend! First off property riding adventure for the young horse on Saturday and teaching at Pony Club Camp on Sunday in Port Townsend.
I have space to add in some one day clinics for groups who may be interested. I also offer special Pony Club rates to continue to give back to the future of our sport!
Thank you to Equitesse Pony Club for having me out - looking forward to seeing everyone again in August ☀️

Nailed it 😂😂😂

Nailed it 😂😂😂

I've come to the conclusion that you never really know someone...until you see their horse get loose at a show.

It started with a sound, a metallic clink, a frantic scramble, a saddle pad catching the wind like a pirate flag.

Then came the cry.
From somewhere across the warm-up ring, in agonizing slow motion:
"WE HAVE A RUUUUUUUUUUUUNAWAAAAY!!"

Heads whipped around.
Parents clutched their children.
No one knows their true athletic potential until they hear the words, 'Hey... isn't that your horse?'
You can train for years, lift weights, run marathons... but nothing unlocks your final form like seeing your horse loose on the showgrounds.
A woman dropped her tall Caramel Macchiato with extra whip, and ran.

It was her horse.
Of course it was her horse.
The same horse who, just this morning, had refused to walk past a puddle.
Now galloping with the chaotic grace of a drunk pegasus.

And she, who normally needed three reminders to pick up the canter, became a heat-seeking missile with a lead rope.

Gone was the woman who once needed encouragement to "be a little quicker off the aids."

In her place:
Jason Bourne with breeches.
A suburban gazelle.
A tactical unit fueled solely by sheer, primal horror.

She hurdled hay bales and small children.
She slid under a sponsors banner like an action hero escaping an explosion.
She parkoured off a mounting block like she'd trained her whole life for this single, stupid moment.

The horse zigged. She zagged.
The crowd gasped.
Someone’s Great Aunt Cheryl fainted near the Porta-Potties.

And just when it seemed the gods of chaos would win,
she launched herself, full Superman form, grabbed the reins, skidded fifteen feet across the gravel, and stuck the landing like an Olympic gymnast with an unpaid vet bill.

Silence.
A single folding chair toppled in the breeze.
Then, scattered applause.

She stood up, hair full of footing, eyes wild, holding her horse like a Viking brandishing a captured enemy.

Some say she never even warmed up after that.
She just dusted herself off, tacked up, saluted the judge, and went straight down centerline, and pulled off the best test of her life.

All we know is you don’t choose to be a hero.
Sometimes, your horse chooses for you.
