Animal Rescue Fund of MS (ARF)

Animal Rescue Fund of MS (ARF) Mississippi's largest no-kill rescue organization At ARF of MS our rescued pets stay as long as they need to in order to find a forever home. What can you do?

During their stay we look to serving the whole animal with attention to their comprehensive care and medical needs as well as social skills building. The shelter is typically home to over 75 cats and 300 dogs at any given time. We provide the residents a safe and happy environment while they await adoption. Dogs are exercised regularly and volunteers spend time with them at play in the exercise

yards while cats enjoy large whimsical “free –roaming” rooms with habitat to encourage exercise and exploration. All are given loving care and attention by staff and volunteers. Once rehabilitated and ready, they are carefully matched with prospective adopters and placed in loving homes. Like people, animals have distinct personalities and patterns, we at ARF of MS work to perfectly match the right animal with the family, ensuring a long lasting relationship. Adopt from us when you’re looking for a new pet and support our no-kill model with a donation today.

Hey there you beautiful ARF people.
Do you have teenagers sitting around complaining that there is nothing to do?
Are your teenagers needing some community service hours for school or scouting?
Do you sit around thinking about "what can we do as a family to do a project together"?
Do you love doing yard work?
Do you have a riding lawnmower, weedeater, push mower and are looking at an opportunity to use your amazing implements?
Well! We have got a deal for you!
As it happens, our various lawn mowers have bitten dust and no longer work and also, we are so busy caring for the animals, that we have not been able to stay on top of all this spring growth we have happening. Large rains, bright sunshine and fertile ground brews tall tall grass. We could lose a great dane in some of our play yards.
If you are interested in helping us out in our wanting to give our doggies fresh cut grass to roll around in and romp in freshly cut play yards, please reach out to us to volunteer in our great need of yard work.
We are at the shelter every day, so we can accommodate your schedule if you are able to offer up a little bit of your time.

We are nearing the end of our challenge offered by one of our supporters and are not near our goal.

Please, if you are able, make a tax deductible gift of support to us before midnight tonight in order for us to reach our goal.
She has committed to donate dollar to dollar up to $5,000 to our needs. This challenge ends at midnight and we are almost halfway there.
There are several options for this challenge; paypal is found at [email protected], Venmo is QR code in photo attached, or the blue donate button on this post.

Just think, if you donate $20, we receive $40, if you donate $100, we receive $200. Our need is large and our works continue everyday.
Let's reach this goal, for the pups and itty kitties

We just received a message fromone of our friends and a supporter. She had donated on our REAL Venmo account. We had reported the scam venmo accounts to Venmo earlier this week.
Now the scammers are sending out emails asking for donations to a new scam account.
DO NOT DONATE TO a venmo account listed as ARFMIS. I don’t know how to do emails from Venmo so don’t fall for it.

Good morning beautiful ARF friends!
We have had an amazing offer by one of our long time supporters!
Starting today, with this post, she is issuing a challenge for us, she will match dollar to dollar for every donation we receive between today and Monday, up to $5,000.00 ! If you donate $10, she will match it, so your gift will be $20, if you donate $50, she will match it, so your gift becomes $100 and so on.

Let's get this train on the track! Donations can be made via the donate button on this post, to Venmo - Paypal - [email protected] or through the USPS to ARF of MS 1317 Greymont Avenue Jackson MS 39202.

Please, consider helping us reach this goal and get the entire $5,000 from the donor to match what you donate.

Our post regarding our Desperate need for donations has stalled, we are only 1/4 of the way to our need to dig out of our hole. I wonder if people see how much has been donated and figure we got donations and so we are good.
We are not good. Our situation is dire. We continue to get asks daily for taking in animals, multiple asks. We can not until our financial situation is resolved.
I understand that people are struggling with their own issues right now and the economy has people on pause; but we can not pause in caring for these animals we have under roof. Animals that were dumped at our gate, animals that were surrendered to us, animals who we and others rescued… after they enter our doors, the responsibility does not end. It is expensive and stressful to run a rescue and we are truly struggling here.
Please, if you have not already donated, please consider any amount that you can to help us help these animals.
Venmo is: PayPal is [email protected]. Those two options are immediate, the donate button donations will arrive next month, and we will still need it then.
USPS option is ARF of Ms. 1317 Greymont Ave. Jackson MS 39202
Thank you from all of us

My dear friend that I found on this crazy thing called social media, lost her dear husband tonight.
I had never met Donna face to face, I had met her in the early days of message boards and she and I made our connection on the YaYa Sisterhood page. Those were some fun times, exploring friendships formed whilst never meeting face to face. We YaYa sister friends would form some deep bonds that have lasted for years.
Years later, I posted about a cat we had taken in, we named him George (spoiler alert, she kept his name). George was diagnosed with a disease that could go one of two ways; he could thrive or he could die in a matter of a few months.
Donna and her husband saw his story on this page, because friends like us follow each other in all aspects of our lives,, and decided to give George a home with them, no matter how short or long his life would be. These two drove all the way to Jackson Ms from Texas to adopt a cat that they had never ever met. They loved him and he loved his new family.
What amazing people.

Well, it turns out that George got the long straw, but or dear friend Donna and her husband had a short straw. Donna lost her heroman today. He was diagnosed with cancer earlier and today, he crossed the mighty River Jordan to the other side.
My heart breaks for my friend Donna Samples and all of her family.
She is good people.
George loved his heroman

Friends, we are BROKE, bad broke.
Normally, we have an income slump between February and April, then our donations start rebounding. This year, that is not the case.
I have been covering our shortfall with my personal credit cards, with the expectation of our donations to rebound as they have historically done. Now, I have maxed out my cards, vet bills are piling up with our vets needing to be paid, entergy and water bills are almost past due and insurance is due.
We need to raise $20,000 just to get all this covered, and then it all starts over again.
I understand that the economy is in flux right now and people have less disposable income, but we need you more than ever.
Please, if you are able, please consider making a tax deductible donation to us so that we can get out from under this weight.
The calls never stop from people needing help with an animal, but until we can turn this thing around, we are unable to help.
There are several ways to donate: the Big Button on this post, venmo- , paypal - [email protected] and the USPS. ARF of MS 1317 Greymont Ave. Jackson MS 39202
Thank you for considering our plea.

June is National ADOPT a CAT MONTH!! 🐱
We’ve got SO many perfect kitties waiting for their forever homes!!

This gorgeous lady is Madame!! 💕💕 Just LOOK at her face!! Madame, her two siblings, their Mama, and two other kittens were left in one small crate in front of ARF in September of last year. Madame is SO sweet and fun!! She can be a little shy at first, but she warms up so fast and wants to be your best friend! She’s great with other kitties, but she seems to love her people the most 💕🐾 💕🐾

Please come meet Madame or get in touch with us here or at arfms.org
