Meraki Dog Training Building a community of stable dogs. 💜🐾 Or maybe you aren’t struggling yet and want to be proactive….either way, I can help you.

At Meraki Dog Training, I know that your dog is an extremely valuable member of your family and that when you start struggling with your dog, it can very quickly become a giant frustration where you don’t know what to do. As an owner of two dogs and a foster of many others, I know at a very personal level how difficult it can be to find the right training for your dog. I have experienced and dealt

with a vast array of behavioral issues but here at Meraki, the training is effective and applicable to any behavioral issue, whether it be serious or minor. The very definition of Meraki is to do something with soul, creativity or love; to put something of yourself into your work. And that is what this is for me….this is more than training dogs. This work has meaning and to me it means keeping dogs in families. And it is the heart and soul of what I do. I too have failed animals in the past due to a lack of knowledge, but as Maya Angelo says “when you know better, you do better.” That is my goal with this training company….to help pass along what I know to you, so that you too can do better for your dog because these creatures need us and we need them.

I am coming here with the heaviest heart to tell you that my sweet boy Harley passed away.

Last Friday, we found out he had cancer. I was devastated, but thought we had some time….time to spoil him, time to celebrate him, time to ease him into retirement from Meraki Dog Training. But that’s not how it played out. He passed away on Tuesday.

Harley was a cornerstone of Meraki Dog Training. Quiet, steady, calm, perfect. He came to work with me so often, and a lot of times people never even knew he was in the office… until he was needed. When a dog was struggling, Harley would step in. I would go get him and his mere presence was everything we needed. He helped countless dogs just by being himself.

His best friend in the entire world was Bristal. The two of them were inseparable. Bristal passed away in October of 2024 and now Harley is gone too.

Together, they helped me build Meraki Dog Training. Bristal was the reason this business ever came to be, and Harley was literally my right hand man. They were incredible dogs.

Harley’s impact on this place, and on me, is impossible to measure. I love him endlessly and I miss him more than I could ever convey.

Thank you to everyone who so graciously gave me the time and flexibility to take care of him at the very end.

I love you so much, sweet boy. Thank you for everything.

These two sweet faces are Cora and Leelu…you would never know it from looking at them, but they’ve had some serious conflicts in the past - including a fight that left Leelu with a broken leg.

When their mom reached out for help, she didn’t just want to manage the problem, she wanted to do everything in her power to truly address it. And that’s exactly what she did.

She took this situation 100% seriously. She followed every single strategy I gave her. She implemented structure. She committed to the work. She asked the right questions. She did the homework. And it paid off.

These two dogs have made incredible progress.

Working through inter-household aggression is one of the hardest issues to tackle in dog behavior. There are so many factors involved, and the dynamic between dogs is often fragile. While there’s never a guarantee that fights will never happen again, there are clear things you can do to build stability, reduce risk, and restore trust.

Leelu and Cora’s mom did them justice in every way possible….and these girls are in a better place because of it.

🐾 The work is never over, but the progress is real.
🐾 The risk isn’t gone, but the relationship is healing.
🐾 This is what’s possible when commitment meets strategy.

I am so unbelievably proud of them.

How amazing is this?!

Last week I had the chance to sit down with Lucy….one of the amazing young women behind The Scoop Sisters, a brand-new dog p**p scooping business that she and her sisters just launched!

These girls are taking initiative, working hard, and turning a not-so-glamorous job into something truly awesome. At Meraki Dog Training, we love seeing this kind of drive, especially from young female entrepreneurs chasing big ideas.

These girls even have their own website! You can check them out and book your yard cleanup at www.scoopsisters.org.

I’m so excited to support these girls as they build something from the ground up (literally).

I’m a few days late getting this crew posted, but look at them! They showed up, put in the work, made real progress, and now they’re off to spread their wings.

The world is their oyster…and now it’s time to take everything they learned in class and put it into practice out in the real world. Because let’s be honest: learning it in class is one thing… but using it after class? That’s where the magic really happens. Here they come, world!

So proud of this group!

Look at these little graduates from this past Sunday’s class!!

This crew showed up, put in the work, and made huge progress over the past few weeks. From nervous first steps to confidently coming into class….we saw it all, and we couldn’t be prouder.

They came, they learned, and now they’re off to apply their skills in the real world.

We absolutely loved working with each and every one of these dogs (and their humans!) and watching their transformation week after week.

Our next round of classes starts this coming Sunday (June 22nd)! So if you want in on this action, call or text (402)429-5279 to register!

These two adorable boys are Milo and Juno. These two Frenchies have a history of what you might call a love-hate relationship. There were times they’d cuddle and coexist peacefully…and then times when things would take a sharp turn. The tension would spike, the fights would break out and injuries were occurring. The stress in the home was rising, and their owners knew something had to change.

Like I always say with dog-on-dog aggression: there are no guarantees. You don’t know if the dogs will ever be able to safely live together long term….but the only way to know, is to start trying. And that’s exactly what Milo and Juno’s owners chose to do. They jumped in, fully committed, knowing that change was going to be hard but necessary.

And it was hard at first.
Crate training dogs who weren’t used to being kenneled.
Ending the habit of letting them both sleep in bed.
Keeping dogs off furniture during the early phases of training.
All the little things that tug at your heart…but are absolutely vital when things are spiraling out of control.

Fast forward about two months into their program, and we are seeing major progress.

Are we done? Not yet.
Is it perfect? Definitely not.
But are they in a dramatically better place than they were before? Without a doubt.

Milo and Juno’s journey is still unfolding, but it’s already an incredible testament to what’s possible when you start making intentional changes. Their story is proof that some really challenging situations can turn around….with commitment, structure, and the right support.

HUGE props to their owners for trusting the training process….what they have accomplished thus far is something to be very very proud of.

Just a quick heads up….I’m in the middle of updating my client management system so things might look a little different for a bit. You might see some changes in how emails or texts come through, but it’s still me!

Technology and I don’t always speak the same language, so bear with me while I get everything figured out! I will do everything I can to make this as smooth and unnoticeable as possible.

Last week, this beautiful girl wanted nothing to do with the tunnel. She was unsure, hesitant, and totally uninterested in even trying it. This week? She went through it over and over.

Confidence in dogs isn’t built by forcing them into scary things….it’s built by giving them the space to figure out they’re capable. Sometimes all they need is a little time, a little encouragement, and a chance to try again.

This is what a post-PackWalk nap looks like….I love when people send me pictures of their dogs just sacked out after a good, long PackWalk!

These are the faces of fulfilled dogs. 💜
