Are you ready to meet the longest-resident cat at the shelter? That's me, Finnagan! I'm just 2 years old, and I'm here to tell you that I'm a good boy who deserves a forever home. 🌟

A Little About Me:

I'm a vocal guy, and I've been letting the shelter know how I feel about being here for far too long. But don't let my rumbly side fool you – when things calm down, I'm a snuggly, playful guy who loves gentle pets and soft words. I'm looking for a quiet, only-pet home with plenty of room to roam around and explore. A catio would be purr-fect! 🌿

My Favorites:

- Wet food (because, priorities!)
- Temptations (who doesn't love a good treat?)
- Catios (I'd love to sit with you and watch the world go by)☀️

What I'm Looking For:

- A quiet home with minimal stress
- Plenty of room to roam and play
- Gentle pets and soft words
- A catio to call my own (dreaming big, I know!)

Will You Give Me a Chance?🖤

I'm a good boy who deserves love and attention. I'd love to meet you and show you my softer side. Come visit me at the shelter, and let's see if we're a match made in heaven!

Have you ever thought about opening your home to short term fostering? Now would be the perfect time to get connected at The Humane Society of Skagit Valley. We are in desperate need for puppy fosters. We could use kitten fosters too but our puppy cup runneth over and the shelter is no place for them to grow up. To learn more, go to https://skagithumane.org/foster/ or reach out directly to our Foster Manager, Carol at [email protected].

Hi, I'm Maybel. I have been waiting too long to find my people. Too long for me has been about a month but in cat years that is forever! Luckily, I have been hanging out at the this last week hoping to pick just the right person to take me home. The staff here is great but I would love to find a person who has wand toys and lots of furniture for me to jump on. I promise I will reward my new person with snuggles and purrs.

I am ready to upgrade from my PetSmart condo to a forever home with all the cat amenities. You've been searching for me. I can feel it. Just come and get me already!

With everything going on in the world today there is scientific data that proves having a dog can improve your mental health. Guys, I know some dogs!

As always please share. It really does make a difference. Thank you! These are the wonderful dogs I walked yesterday. All pretty awesome and deserving of a loving home. All available for adoption at the Humane Society of Skagit Valley.

Guera- seriously this girl is everything you want in a dog. She is active cuddly, super smart, full of character and just look how cute she is! She walks ok on leash after she gets her yayas out, knows basic commands and can be dog friendly with the right introduction and a cool dog. She does not present well in her kennel, take her out for a meet and greet.

Phoebe- this gentle little husky has been a mentor for many shy dogs. She has a very sweet and soft disposition. She walks great on leash, doesn’t pull, knows basic commands and is so chill it’s hard to believe she is a husky. If you look close at her brown eye she has the tiniest speck of blue in it! Very unique!

Cowboy- what a handsome and good boy! So easy to harness, very gentle on leash and knows basic commands. He is a chill mellow boy who would faithfully stay by your side and let you know everything is ok.

Rocky- another chill husky. This gentlemen will never pull on the leash, he is patient to be brushed, knows basic commands and you can get lost in all that thick fur petting him. Such a love this boy!

Loba- I can’t believe I am saying this but another chill husky. She did get upset when I took Rocky on a walk without her. Loba is a beautiful girl, gentle on walks, knows basic commands and says you have to work if you want a good picture of her beautiful eyes.

Egg- this beautiful little soul gets to me. He was dumped, then adopted, then brought back because he had separation anxiety. Really? He is a total love. So easy to leash, does enjoy being very close to you. Loves love, you know the kind, they lean into you. He walks well on leash, knows basic commands and that long tail with the white tip is everything! Take him out, as most of our dogs he does not present great in the kennel.

There are many other great dogs here, go check them out, a good dog is way cheaper than therapy.

Meet Our Handsome Young Gentlemen!😍🐾

We've got four amazing dudes looking for their forever homes! 🐶 They're past the teething stage, but still young, fun, and full of life! While they wait, they're having a blast playing together at the shelter. 🤜🤛

• Dexter: 7-month-old mix breed with a heart of gold! We’re still learning about him, but he's got a great personality.
• Chevy: 7-month-old Lab/German Shepherd mix and total sweetheart! He's new to the shelter, but he's already stealing hearts.
• Brewster: 9-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix and bundle of fun! He loves people and doggy pals alike.
• Egg: 1-year-old mix breed and affectionate snuggle bug! He loves cuddles, playtime, and being around his favorite humans.

Look at Puck guys! Thriving in foster and ready to be adopted. This guy loves to make people laugh, like seriously does it on purpose and he gives great smooches. If you adopt from one of our foster partners it makes room for another shelter dog to get out and really blossom in a home environment. Let’s get Puck adopted!!!

It all started with a horse in need

Back in 1973, there was a horse in need of care as it was getting neglected by its keeper. A concerned citizen from the Valley called the police, but to her dismay they could not do anything. She enjoyed taking photographs and loved animals. So she thought about taking photos of this particular horse in Skagit Valley that was in much need to show its decline. Then when she had enough photos, her next step was to take them to the local paper. Sure enough, this brought out a public cry for animal welfare in Skagit Valley. Soon, in August of 1974, the Humane Society of Skagit Valley was registered as a 501c3 non-profit animal welfare organization. Now, years later, we are still going strong with reuniting animals to owners, adopting pets to loving and responsible families, spaying and neutering companion animals and now rescuing animals from high kill animal shelters across the nation. As well as collaborating with great animal welfare organizations like the nationally recognized ASPCA, The Humane Society of the United States, and partnering with local and statewide Animal Welfare groups in providing solutions. Our mission: To provide a safe haven to shelter and care for the abandoned, abused, or unwanted animals within Skagit County; to treat the animals with dignity and respect; to place these animals into loving and caring homes; to create public education programs that increase the awareness of humane treatment and the necessity of spay and neuter of all animals; and to coordinate resources for housing and placement of small animals evacuated during disaster. We invite you to come out to our facility and meet the wonderful pets and adopt, don’t shop. We have a wonderful Cat-wing for our Felines to enjoy and several play court yards for you to meet with our Canine friends.
