Peggy’s smile says it all—thank you for the love and support! 🥰

For those who missed her story: Peggy was found in the Houston area, severely underweight trying to nurse her babies and with injuries whose cause we may never know. Despite everything she’s been through, she’s the sweetest mama, devoted to her babies and always ready for belly rubs.

We’re so grateful for this amazing community who stepped up for her. Thank you for being part of Peggy’s journey! 💛

Now they do everything together—morning zoomies, afternoon naps, and plenty of toy stealing in between.

Watching a dog and cat become best friends might be one of the cutest things ever. ❤️

She’s safe…but the wounds on her body still tell a story we may never fully know. 💔

Thanks to your generosity, Peggy and her babies are finally safe and resting in quarantine. We’re so grateful for every dollar donated so far it’s truly saving lives.

But Peggy’s fight isn’t over. While her bloodwork came back clean, she’s suffering from painful injuries to her paw and significant trauma to her back, on top of being severely emaciated. We don’t know what caused these injuries—was she hit by a car, or did someone hurt her? What we do know is that Peggy is a fighter, bravely holding on for herself and her babies found on the streets of Houston.

Her road to recovery will require more tests, treatment, and time—and all of that is expensive. Every gift helps Peggy move closer to the safe, healthy life she deserves.

If we’re fortunate enough to raise more than Peggy and her pups need, every extra dollar will go toward saving the next mama waiting for her chance.

Stay tuned: next week, we’ll share a video with our clinic director about Peggy’s refeeding plan and next steps in her journey.

Ever wonder what rescue dogs dream about? It’s this. Bowser and Princess Xena, two of our Houston pups, got to spend a day outside their boarding kennels at our rescue — and you can truly see the joy in every step.

Doggy day outs aren’t just cute — they help dogs decompress, build confidence, and learn new life skills like leash walking and riding in a car.

The truth is, most of our boarding dogs only get a couple walks or play sessions a day. We simply don’t have enough hands.

That’s why these outings matter so much — and why we need your help.

Houston, we have a serious problem.

The streets are overflowing—with stray animals and people facing some of the toughest battles life can throw at them. Addiction. Exploitation. Homelessness. And in the middle of it all? Dogs who didn’t ask for any of it… but who are still deeply loved.

This week, our Community Outreach Team partnered with Project Girls K9s & Renegades to reach women in high-risk areas of Southeast Houston—women caught in cycles of addiction, exploitation, and survival. For many of them, their pets are their only source of comfort, protection, or joy. Even when the situation isn’t ideal, those bonds are real.

We showed up with compassion—not judgment. Thanks to , we provided vaccines and flea prevention. We brought food. And we’re building a foster network, so when these women are ready for change, their animals have a safe place to land too.

This is why spay/neuter and outreach matter. It’s not just about stopping litters—it’s about breaking cycles. Offering low-cost services. Reducing suffering. And creating real solutions for both people and their pets.

These dogs may not live the way we wish they did, but they are loved. They are owned. And they matter.

This is what it means to do rescue with heart.
