This is so important! We are Always saying not to put the hose nozzle in the water buckets!

“When you fill your horse's water buckets, especially if you are away from home, do not immerse the nozzle in the water.

This is because hose nozzles can be a major culprit in the spread of diseases.

“We’ve found with strangles that one of the best conduits of disease was a water hose, and you see this all the time at shows, where competitors and grooms use the same hose in a barn,” says Robert C. Stout, DVM. “What better way to move the disease from stall to stall and between horses who never actually come in contact with each other? We had one major strangles outbreak at a racetrack where we could track it right down the barn aisle where the same hose was used to top off water buckets.”

Please, for the love of all things 4 legged, STOP CANCELING YOUR LESSONS!

A few important things:

Our program is well known for having good, reliable, safe lesson horses. I truly am turning away approximately 12 potential new customers every week and referring them to other programs (of which there aren’t many with openings themselves).

Why? Because of you. You don’t have a horse of your own and you need mine. Completely fine. I love sharing my co workers with you. Each week, I schedule out each horses’ ride times and assign a time for you. They aren’t machines, so I have to assign them to a limited number of riders. Otherwise, they get cranky and they start throwing you off. 🤷‍♀️. It’s all budgeted very, very closely.

I hope this post helps you realize the trickle down effect your change in plans have;

The cost of running this program is high - as I am certain you know or else you’d have your own horse! But the hidden costs of insurance and taxes is becoming cost prohibitive. Not to mention our sue hungry culture almost making it a dangerous prospect to continue.

So, yes, this is a PSA to let you know lesson programs are dying. In order to keep our doors open, we need you to think twice about the cancel, or even better, offer to still pay due to you now understanding the inconvenience it puts on us. Echoe still needs his special shoes, Maggie her expensive meds, Yankee his eye cream, etc etc, etc.

We are mostly talking to our repeat offenders here. You know who you are. We know who you are. We understand random sickness, a vacation, etc. But please stop canceling your lesson or we will go the route of enforcing payment anyway…or giving your spot away to one of those other poor 12 people who call every week… Or, dreadfully closing our lesson program.

If you’re enrolled in the lesson program here, we want you to know you’re one of the lucky ones to have a spot. Please treat it as the privilege it is.

We adore having you. Please don’t force our hand!

Bridge Acres is looking for weekend help!
Must be competent and capable of handling horses and ponies, turning in and out, cleaning stalls(shavings) and general safety. We take meticulous care of our horses and we hope to find someone who cares for them like we do!
