Today we said goodbye to our buck Opie. He was the first rabbit we ever got, no idea how old he was but over the last few weeks he had been deteriorating and we believe it was just old age. He fathered lots of great babies and treated Clover very well. He was always the friendliest rabbit and has passed that friendly curious nature to his son Willow who will carry on in his place. He will be missed very much.

Our above-ground litter had a few casualties early on and we are down to 7, but the remaining kits are fat and growing and eyes are starting to open! This litter is getting plenty of handling since the nest is so accessible and we are hoping to have a good keeper doe from this litter to add to the breeding program. Our older litter is doing well, growing quick and will be ready for new homes(or freezers) in about 2 weeks!

Clover has been doing a great job with this litter! She has completely buried the entrance to our makeshift burrow, thankfully the carrier opens from the top so we can continue to check the babies without digging them out!

Clover is taking great care of this litter despite not being in a burrow. She has added more fur and hay to the nest, making sure the little ones are nice and cozy, and has even tried to bury the entrance to the box! Here's a little peek inside the nest, love watching them wiggle about.

Miss Clover has done it again! With nine 5 week olds running around she has blessed us with ten more kits this morning! We unfortunately had to excavate her last burrow as it was in a potentially dangerous spot. With such little turn around time Clover didn't manage to get another one dug and these little ones were born above ground in 20+ mph winds. By the time we got out to check on everyone they had been scattered and cold, some not moving. Thankfully we were able to collect them quickly and get them inside to warm up. So far everyone is hanging in and they will go back outside where we have set up an above ground nest. Clover will take it from there! It will be fun to watch the development of this litter more carefully!

Meat rabbits make a great addition to any homestead. They don't take up much space, are relatively easy to care for and produce a healthy lean meat!

We currently have 2 12-14 week old American Chinchilla cross rabbits, 1 doe and 1 buck, available to new homes. Take them both and raise your own or put them in the freezer.

Interested in learning more about raising and processing rabbits? Happy to teach!

More available in about 4 weeks!

Clover left the burrow open today which can only mean one thing... babies are ready to start exploring and I can finally peek! I count at least 5, how many baby bunnies can you see?
