Anchorage Animal Care and Control We are the open-admission animal shelter for domestic animals and the enforcement agency for Title 17 Animals for the Municipality of Anchorage.

Our shelter provides a temporary home to stray animals waiting to be claimed by their owners or homeless animals waiting to be adopted. We have an active volunteer force that helps exercise and socialize shelter animals. Animal control officers respond to requests for assistance regarding animals in need and to concerns about animals that might be a threat to public safety.

☀️It’s a great day at Alaska Mill and Feed Inc. when two things happen; the sun is shining and animals in need are finding forever homes. Thank you so much for allowing us to host adoption event today, and even with the State Fair going on, it seemed like we were the main attraction (or at least the adorable kittens were). We wish everyone who adopted today the best of luck on this next chapter, and hope to hear from everyone on how their new furry family member is doing.💙💚

💚Thank you to everyone who showed up for our event; to the rescues, the local businesses, and most importantly to all the adopters. It’s great to see our community come together to support National Clear the Shelters month, especially on such a gorgeous Saturday.

Tomorrow, Saturday August 23rd we will be at Alaska Mill and Feed Inc. with the cutest group of 8 week old kittens that are ready to find forever homes. We will be there from 11am-2pm so come stop by and find that new best friend you’ve always been dreaming of.💙💚

🍀Meet Baxter and Ace, a pair of brothers who are ready to take the big step in life by finding their forever homes.

💙Baxter is just over a year old, and despite being nervous at first he is quickly opening up and showing his more playful side. Of course as a shepherd he does love to run, so an active home is a must. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is looking for a family that has a little patience to help him blossom.

💚Ace is a shy boy, but with a handful of treats available he will definitely lower is guard and be the big brave dog he was always meant to be. Ace is about 2 and half years old, he is also neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, making him all set to find a home today. Ace just asks that his new family goes slow with him and allows him to proper time to adjust, in return he promises to be a loyal and loving companion.

This happy boy is 6 years old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and most importantly just a really cool dog. If you’re looking for a companion who just seems like one of the guys, ignoring the fact he has four legs and fur, then Moto Moto is the perfect addition to your life. Sugar is just 6 months old so it seems that everything in this big world is new to her and that can be quite scary; so at first she can be quite timid to new people but once you offer her a treat or a couple neck scratches she starts to just melt in your arms. 🐶Come join us this Saturday at the shelter and choose to adopt. This event is in honor of National Clear the Shelters month coming to a close. However we still have plenty of adorable furry friends looking for their forever homes. We will have rescues from around the state in attendance as well showing off their adoptable animals and answering questions about the services they can provide our pet community.💚
