🐾💛 Hercules Hot Potato Update! 💛🐾

Would you look at HHP! 🥹🐾💛

The best news? He's doing super well 💛✨

He's playing, growing, and enjoying life. He recently moved into bigger digs, and at first he had absolutely no idea what to do with all that extra space 🤣🐾

He's also getting a bath because one of his medications leaves him a little sticky 😅🛁🐱

June 17th is coming up fast, and we're getting excited 💛

That's the day he'll have his CT scan and, if everything looks as expected, surgery. We're all hoping for the same thing: a **single, operable shunt** that can be corrected and put this sweet boy on the path to a normal, healthy life 🥹🐾💛

🐾💛 **Cali — Resilient, Loving, and So Ready for Home** 💛🐾

Cali has been through more than most…
and she’s come out the other side full of love 💛

She is a **FIP survivor** and has also overcome **stomatitis**, and today she is **healthy, happy, and thriving** 🥺🐾

As part of her journey, Cali did have **teeth removed**, but she’s doing great and eating well 🫶

🐾💛 **Welcome Pineapple, Honeydew & Coconut to rescue!** 💛🐾

These three little ones may not be related, but they all found their way to Heartland and are now safe, loved, and getting the care they need 🫶🐱💕

🍍 **Pineapple** is a 5-week-old tortie who was found outside and brought to one of our veterinary partners, who reached out to us for help. She's already showing plenty of tortitude 😄👑 Tiny but mighty, this girl definitely has opinions!

🍈 **Honeydew** is a sweet 1-month-old black and white baby. A local Animal Control Officer reached out about this bottle baby, and we're happy to report that he's thriving, growing, and doing wonderfully 🍼💕 He's proving that a little love goes a long way.

🥥 **Coconut** is an 8-week-old tuxedo who was found alone in the road. His injuries were consistent with being thrown from a vehicle, but despite such a rough start, he's a resilient little guy 💔🐾

Coconut has a limp tail and is missing a bone near the end of it. While it doesn't slow him down, he can't lift it properly, which makes keeping himself clean difficult. To help him live a more comfortable and sanitary life, he'll eventually have the non-functional portion of his tail removed, leaving him with an adorable little bobtail ✨🐱

All three of these babies have overcome challenges far too early in life, but now they have full bellies, safe places to sleep, and bright futures ahead 💕🐾

Esme and Evie, now known as **Mae and Stevie** 💕🐱🐱, were adopted on Thursday and have already made themselves completely at home 🏡✨

Their new mom is absolutely smitten with them 🥹💛 — and honestly, it's easy to see why.

These sweet girls didn't waste any time settling in, exploring their new surroundings, and making themselves part of the family 🐾💕

Seeing them together, happy, and so loved is exactly what we hoped for when they started their journey with us 💛

🎨🐾 Paint with Kittens was a Resounding Success! 🐾🎨

What an amazing day! 💛

This was our **4th Paint with Kittens event**, and it was another wonderful afternoon filled with happy people, adorable kittens, and lots of kitten cuddles.

The kittens received love and attention from the moment they arrived until it was time to head home, and the humans had a fantastic time too! We could not have asked for a better event.

A huge thank you to Imagination Pottery Studio , everyone who attended, and everyone who continues to support Heartland Humane Society of Missouri. 🐾💕

🐾🔥 **Blaze — A Survivor with a Heart Full of Love** 🔥🐾

Blaze’s story didn’t start out easy 💔🥺

When Blaze arrived in rescue with his siblings, all of the kittens were critically ill. Despite everyone’s best efforts, his siblings sadly did not survive.

But Blaze did. 🐾💕

This brave little guy fought through more than most kittens ever should have to face, and today he’s ready to find the forever home he has worked so hard for 💗

One of Blaze’s biggest challenges has been mycoplasma, which required ongoing treatment and monitoring.

The good news? 🎉🐾

After a long journey, we have finally gotten it under control.

It is important for potential adopters to know that Blaze may experience flare-ups from time to time. If that happens, treatment with the appropriate antibiotics for the proper length of time is typically effective 💊💗

Right now, Blaze is feeling great and enjoying life 😻

💔🐾 Panleukopenia has hit Heartland hard these past couple of weeks. 🐾💔

Right now, we are treating two separate groups of moms and babies in two different foster homes affected by this devastating and highly contagious virus. Unbeknownst to us, they were already infected before rescue and began showing symptoms shortly after coming into our care.

These tiny kittens are fighting for their lives. Several have required intensive veterinary care, hospitalization, medications, testing, fluids, syringe feeding, and around-the-clock monitoring.

One of our mama cats, Willow, is currently hospitalized at Veterinary Specialty Services West in critical condition. She is receiving aggressive supportive care as our veterinary team fights to save her life. Watching these sweet babies and their moms suffer through this awful virus has been absolutely heartbreaking.

Our veterinary expenses for these cases alone are already approaching $5,000 — and we are still in the middle of treatment.

As a foster-based rescue, we do not receive government funding. Every medical bill is covered through donations, fundraisers, and adoption fees. Cases like these are emotionally exhausting and financially overwhelming, but we refuse to give up on these babies.

Panleukopenia is one of the deadliest illnesses we see in rescue, especially for young kittens. But with aggressive treatment and supportive care, some CAN survive — and we are doing everything possible to give these little ones a fighting chance.

To help offset some of these overwhelming medical costs, we are also holding a T-shirt fundraiser 👕
