Meet Shiraz

Shiraz is a beautiful kitten with a black silky coat. She was named after a grape variety used to make wine because she was found in the road about a quarter mile from a winery. Bedford Humane Society speculates that she and her sisters had been abandoned by their previous family because none of them showed any signs of being feral. She is very loving and curious, and loves to purr. Shiraz loves her toys and pretends to act very tough when she finds a special one that she wants to keep to herself, but is very quick to share with her sisters. Shiraz has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated and tested for FeLV and FIV. It’s always best for kittens to go to a new home with at least one other kitten, but BHS will consider a lone adoption to the right family. Her adoption fee is $100, but if more than one kitten is adopted, each additional kitten is only $50! Because she is not yet spayed, Shiraz is not available for adoption outside the counties contiguous with Bedford County. Meet Merlot

Merlot is a beautiful calico kitten who was named after a variety of grape used to make wine because she was found in the road about a quarter mile from a winery. She is very loving and curious, and loves to purr. Merlot is very polite and always allows her sisters to eat before she does. She also loves to nibble on ears or any extremity she can get ahold of! She has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated and tested for FeLV and FIV. Meet Nero

Nero is a beautiful black kitten with a small amount of white fur who was named after a variety of grape that is used to make wine because she was found in the road about a quarter mile from a winery. She is very loving and curious, and loves to purr. Nero is always the first kitten to come running when her foster mom enters the room. She has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated and tested for FeLV and FIV. Meet Bella

Meet Beautiful Bella, a black and white Standard Poodle. She is an owner surrender through no fault of her own. She is a sweet, loving, full of energy girl who loves to run and play with toys! She is great with other dogs. She requires a fenced area for her to run off her energy. She also requires bi-monthly grooming because of her hair type. Grooming can run up to 100.00 each time. Her hair is currently very short because of lack of grooming which required that she be shaved. She is dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms. She has received the distemper-parvo combination vaccine, Bordetella vaccine and her Rabies vaccine. She is spayed, and is completely housebroken.

Bella would make an amazing family dog! Always happy and even tempered. She does not jump, just wants lots of attention and love. Minimum barking.

Meet BoBo

BoBo …. This sweet boy must have his own guardian angel. Not only was he a stray taken to shelter found to have Parvo ... off to the Vet, and he survived … now he is with Bedford Humane waiting for someone to give him a home. BoBo is a very sweet boy, you would never know what he’s been though in his young life. BOBO is a young energetic puppy that needs someone to love him but to teach him to be a solid citizen. BoBo will probably do well with children that understand and respect puppies. He is young enough that with the proper introduction cats would be fine also and he appears good with dogs.

Meet Millie

Millie appears to be some type of Terrier. Her mom looks part Maltese. Millie has had a rough life and now is looking forward to being loved and taken care of. She is not sure how to handle new dogs when they approach because she was kept locked up. She is very sweet and happy, and walks well on a leash. She does not mind being in a crate, and did really well taking a bath. Can you give Millie the home she deserves?

Meet Toby

Toby appears to be a Shepherd/Lab mix. His estimated birthday is in January 2025. Toby has a hyper side. He loves to be with his person. He loves attention. He walks well on a leash, knows a few commands like sit, wait, place and is learning to stay. He came to BHS very skinny, therefore he eats really fast. He is now on a slow feed bowl. Toby's ears are starting to stay straight up. He is a beautiful pup. If only Toby could tell us what happened in the past. Toby has part of his tail that has been broken. It does not bother him and he still wags it. Toby is unsure about some dogs, and therefore he barks when he approaches them. Toby needs a home where he can get lots of attention and continue his training.

Toby has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, tested for heartworms, and is on heartworm preventative. Toby has been neutered and is all ready for his new home.
