☀️ Summer = fun… but let’s keep it safe for our four-legged friends!

Here’s how to beat the heat:
🐾 Walk early (before 9 AM is best!)
💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🔥 Test the pavement with your hand — if it’s hot for you, it’s too hot for paws

Keep tails wagging, not overheating.
💚 Questions about summer safety? We’ve got you covered.

Not all pets show stress by growling or hiding.

Some of the earliest signs of anxiety are easy to miss:

✔️ Yawning (even when they’re not tired)
✔️ Lip licking, panting, turning away
✔️ Extra shedding or “shaking off” like they’re wet

At ArkVets, we watch for all these signals — and use gentle, Fear-Free techniques to help your pet feel safe and supported every step of the way.

💚 Worried about stress at your next visit? We’re here to help.

Does your pet get anxious (or even snappy) at the vet?
You’re not alone — and it doesn’t mean your pet is “bad.”

✨ Try these gentle tips before your next visit:

✅ Take practice car rides that end somewhere fun
✅ Skip breakfast so treats are extra motivating
✅ Bring a favorite toy or blanket
✅ Keep calm yourself — dogs pick up on your energy

At ArkVets, every visit is tailored to your pet’s needs. We’re Fear-Free certified and always happy to go slow, use extra treats, or plan a meet-and-greet first.

💚 Got concerns? Call us. Let’s make visits less scary, together.

Warm weather means more adventures outside — but it also means more fleas, ticks & mosquitoes. 🦟
These tiny pests can cause big problems like Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, heartworm & more.

Even indoor pets aren’t safe. Fleas hop in with you. Mosquitoes love open doors. And ticks hitch rides on shoes & clothes.

💚 Let us help protect your furry family with trusted prevention.

💚 Recently, Dr. DeCamp performed a splenectomy on a patient right here at ArkVets.

A splenectomy is a surgery to remove the spleen — an organ that helps filter blood and fight infections. While the spleen plays an important role, sometimes it develops serious problems like:

✨ Large tumors (benign or malignant)
✨ A rupture from trauma or disease
✨ Severe infections or immune conditions

In these cases, removing the spleen can be truly lifesaving.

🩺 Most pets adjust well without their spleen because other organs (like the liver and lymph nodes) take over many of its functions. With careful monitoring and Fear-Free handling, many pets are back to tail wags and gentle walks sooner than you’d think.

Have questions about your pet’s health — or a surgery they might need?

📞 Call us anytime. Dr. DeCamp and our compassionate team are here to guide you.

Blood tests aren’t just for senior pets. 🩺

Even young dogs & cats benefit from routine screening — it helps us catch changes before they become problems.

✨ Why is it so important?

✅ Spots kidney, liver or thyroid changes early
✅ Reveals hidden infections or anemia
✅ Builds a healthy baseline so we can track changes year after year

More happy years. Less worry. That’s preventive care done right. 💚

Did you know dehydration can make your pet anxious and irritable—not just thirsty? 🐾
Without enough water, dogs and cats can become restless, moody, and even more stressed.

Here’s what you can watch for:

✅ Gums that feel tacky or dry
✅ Skin that doesn’t snap back quickly when gently lifted
✅ Lethargy or trouble settling down

💧 Keep water fresh & easy to find, try pet fountains, and feed moisture-rich foods to help.
✨ Need tailored hydration tips or want to make sure your pet’s healthy this summer?

🐾 Kittens truly are angels with whiskers. ✨

They fill our days with playful pounces and gentle purrs — and they grow up so fast.

Today on National Kitten Day, we’re celebrating all the tiny (and formerly tiny) whiskered wonders who make our hearts a little lighter.

💚 Share a photo of your kitten — or your grown-up cat back in their tiny days — in the comments below. Let’s make this feed a joyful, fuzzy place today.

Is your cat straining to p*e? 🚨
It might look like your cat is trying to go in the litter box over and over—crying out, licking themselves, or even p*eing outside the box. This could be a life-threatening emergency.

⚠️ A urinary blockage can become deadly within hours, especially in male cats. Acting quickly can save your cat’s life and spare them pain.

At ArkVets, we’re here for same-day urgent care with gentle, fear-free handling that keeps stress low and comfort high.

💚 Don’t wait. If you see these signs, call us right away.
