PEACH Is Dog of the Week!!
Meet PEACH! She is a 50 #, 2-year-old (Birth Year April 2023), Australian Kelpie / PitBull Terrier mixed girl!

***PITBULL TERRIER/AUSTRAILIAN KELPIE MIX / LARGE DOG EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/ NO CATS OF ANY KIND / NO SMALL ANIMALS / NO FARM LIFE NO CHICKENS DUCKS OR GOATS. NO KIDS***

Peach is a sweet, loving, companion dog. She has been around other dogs, however the best fit home for Peach would be where she is the only pet. A multiple dog home would not be a good fit for this Queen Bee type. Cats and small animals are a no go for this high prey drive girl. She was in Foster care on a farm, and it was found that farm life is not a good environment for her. It should be noted that Peach prefers men, will bond deeply, and will guard her person. A single gentleman who has no children would be her best home life. She enjoys her person time, sleeping with her owner, going for car rides, is crate trained, and really wants to please. A secure fenced yard is required to keep her safe and happy!

UPDATE: Peach is doing well interacting with our adult female volunteers. She thinks they are pretty swell.

We lost a very special volunteer, Chris Lott, on May 20, 2025. Chris adopted Tonka from AAP in May 2014 and began as a volunteer in June 2020. She volunteered several days a week as a handler, cleaner, meals/meds, snow crew and so much more! Chris loved the dogs and volunteers and called AAP her "home away from home".

A memorial was held for Chris at the kennels on June 28, 2025. Her AAP Family, Friends and Pups celebrated her life with a slideshow, stories, tears and laughs.

Chris was not only a wonderful volunteer but she was the most positive and happy person and was a friend to all. We miss her very much! Thank you Chris for giving our pups so much love!

MATTHEW is Dog of the Week!!!
Meet MATTHEW! He is a 9 #,1-year-old, Mini Doodle/Poodle mixed boy who is very active and fun!

***DOODLE EXPERIENCE PREFERRED. MONTHLY GROOMING REQUIRED***

Matthew is the life of the party! He came to us after running for five weeks and being trapped by our amazing State Trapper DD Ponder! He was quite scared at first and slowly learned to trust those around him with quiet and calm movements, and an attached leash. Matthew is a loving and smart boy who is a ladies’ man! It is important to go slow with him at first meet to let him come to you. He is an active boy who enjoys walks, yard play, and hanging with his people. He is a fast learner who listens and enjoys praise and cuddles for reward! An active outdoorsy family would be his best fit as he wants to be part of the family action! He loads up nicely and car rides are fun! Matthew is treat motivated and sits nicely to receive a treat. He is a great companion dog. Matthew needs a kind and gentle leader to continue his basic commands, and leash manners.

Because of his mystery background, we do not know how he would do with with children and recommend 13+ kind and dog savvy. He has not been introduced to other dogs as he had several injured areas and wore a cone for three weeks. Cats and other small animals are unknown. A secure fenced and supervised yard is required to keep him safe and happy.

If you have any other questions, email is the best method of communication. We are 100% volunteer-run and operated and are open by appointment only. Please send us an email or submit an application if you'd like to make an appointment we'll be in touch as soon as we can! Thank you for your inquiry!

🐾 K9 Teams Highlight the Power of Partnership at Adopt-a-Pet Open House 🐾

On July 19, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Shelton Police Department were proud to support the Adopt-a-Pet Open House with a K9 demonstration by Cpl. Anderson & K9 Kylo (MCSO) and Officer Belleville & K9 Timmy (SPD).

Cpl. Anderson shared insights into what makes a great law enforcement K9—emphasizing a balance between high performance in the field and being a calm, community-friendly companion. He also spoke about the wide range of roles K9s perform, from tracking and drug detection to search and rescue.

Officer Belleville introduced K9 Timmy, a young and energetic partner currently in the early stages of a 400-hour K9 certification program. His passion for dogs and experience in animal control and patrol work made for an engaging and informative session.

Both teams gave live demonstrations and answered questions, helping connect the public to the important work our K9 units do every day.

Thank you to Adopt-a-Pet for hosting and to everyone who came out to support! 🐶

WILLOW is Dog of the Week!

Meet WILLOW! She is an 86 #, 12-year-old, Great Pyrenees senior girl who up to now has had a mysterious life. According to previous owners, and she has had several, she is sweet as pie, and is simply looking for a loving home she can remain in.

***GREAT PYRENEES / LARGE DOG EXPERIENCE PREFERRED***

Willow is very a very loving and cuddly girl, who believes she is a lap dog. She loves her bath, being brushed, petted and scratched. She has her volunteer favorites that will sit in bed with her to give cuddles! She loves cruising in the yard with you, and people are her passion.

Willow is a great companion and family dog. She is very good with children of all ages, other dogs, and has successfully lived with cats. She enjoys a car ride with her head out the window, and loves walks. She does have some separation anxiety, as she does not like to be alone. This senior companion will need a securely fenced yard to keep her safe and happy, and will go look for you if property is not secured. Best fit home would be one where someone is always home.

If you have any other questions, email is the best method of communication. We are 100% volunteer-run and operated and are open by appointment only. RED DOG is Dog of the Week!!

Meet RED DOG! He is a 5-Year-Old (03/03/2020), 82 #, Pit Bull Terrier who is very good and sweet! His short red brindle coat is accented by big white patches!

***PITBULL AND LARGE DOG EXPERIENCE PREFERRED / NO CATS / NO FOWL***

Red Dog is a great companion and family dog, who has a very loving and happy disposition. He is playful, sweet, and friendly! RD enjoys car rides, is content to be with his people, and keeps a tidy kennel. He enjoys toys especially rope for tug, and has a sweet curious nature. He enjoys fresh vegetables and fruit toppings on his kibble. RD has lived with children whose ages range from infant to 10, and children are his passion! He shared his home with a large female dog, his sister Missy, and is dog social. He has gone to the dog park, and does best with females his size. Cats and Fowl are a no go for this big guy. A secure fenced yard is required to keep him safe, healthy, and happy!
