URGENT: A long time client (and friend) and very hard working owner contacted me last night having to make a very hard decision. A recent graduate of Yale Medical School is now beginning his Surgery Residency down in Maryland for the next 5 years.
Unfortunately he is now working 14-16 and sometimes 28 hour shifts at the hospital and at this point in his career he feels it is not fair to his dog Shaya a 5 year old German Wirehair pointer. Drew has put in thousands of hours and well over 15,000.00 in training over the last few years.
Shaya must go to an upland hunting home. She has hunted in Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Maine on wild birds, Nova Scotia for Ptarmigan, and is a machine in the field. She is very cooperative in her field work, is fully off leash trained professionally collar conditioned, has gone through a conditioned retrieve program through pile work / Single T casting; taught/schooled single point blinds land and water. She delivers to hand and is very steady on point. The owner will travel anywhere in the country and will pay for transition lessons with the new owner.
Please share this and help us find the perfect home for shaya. Due to the hospital schedule (drew recently moved to Maryland and the schedule is overwhelming at the new hospital).
Drew’s priority is to find the perfect home for Shaya. We are asking 3500.00 for this pup which is an extremely good price. We can arrange a meet and greet. Please contact me at 203-375-2277 and I can give you more information and details etc. I wish I could take her as I have a lot of time with her but I can’t take another 🐶.
As Drew’s trainer I commend him for making a very difficult emotional decision yet he is making the best decision for shaya quality of life. It has been amazing watching them grow as a team starting out as a young med student in New Haven walking around downtown New Haven campus with a hunting dog. They have dedicated so much time and work to grow as a handler team and travelled the country. They have both learned from each other and unfortunately life has other paths for them.
