argest pug rescue organizations in the United States having rescued and placed over 8,500 pugs. Veterinary care is our biggest expense averaging $220,000 a year. All pugs rescued are taken immediately to the vet where they are examined, tested and treated for parasites, infections, vaccinated, sterilized, and microchipped before being placed in a foster or permanent home. DFWPRC is an all-volunteer, foster-based organization — there are no paid positions. We do not have a staging area to hold our rescue pugs. We depend on the generosity of our volunteers to provide foster homes until permanent homes can be located. You can help to promote our mission and be a part of this exciting volunteer opportunity. 11-year-old Toby and 9-year-old Minnie are a bonded pair of fawn pugs that prove opposites attract.

Toby is a quiet, sweet boy who is content to spend 99% of his day snoozing, waking just in time for dinner while Minnie is an outgoing, playful girl who loves soft toys, being the center of attention and cuddling up with her people.

Both are house-trained, get along with other dogs and cats, and prefer a fenced yard to leash walks, and like to eat by each other at mealtime. Minnie has lovely mealtime manners while Toby is happy to “help” finish other dogs’ bowls if given the chance. Toby is mostly deaf and blind and gets eye drops twice daily. Minnie is working on regrowing fur on her hind end, and her coat is improving nicely.

These two would thrive in a calm, loving home with either another gentle dog or just each other. Because Toby’s eyes protrude, they would do best in a home with adults or respectful, older children.

Two-year-old Ralph, affectionately called Ralphie, is a pint-sized 16-pound black pug who loves nothing more than to curl up next to his people. He enjoys chewing on antlers and bones, gets along great with other dogs, and is discovering the joy of play.

Ralph is crate-trained, walks beautifully on a leash and is learning how to use a dog door. He eats enthusiastically at mealtimes, is working on his house training (diaper chic for now) and would thrive with someone to patiently help him master this. Ralph needs daily prescription drops or gel for dry eyes and has some vision loss, but it doesn’t slow him down.

Given his sweet temperament, he would likely do well with children and would be happy in a home with a canine playmate or as an only dog.

If you’re looking for a loving, little companion to light up your life, Ralph might just be your perfect match. 💖

2-year-old Hotrod is an active, lighthearted and happy boy who loves spending time with his pack, playing chase, going for walks, chewing on toys, taking car rides, and cuddling up by to his people. Hotrod’s favorite hobbies include chowing down at mealtime from his slow feeder bowl and chewing on bones and bully sticks. According to his foster mom, Hotrod is a champion high jumper and is even able to jump over baby gates! 😬🥇

Hotrod is house-trained, great with dogs and cats, and walks well on a leash. He is crate-trained and will sleep in a crate; however, he prefers to be near his people or with the other pugs in his foster home. At night, he goes to bed with his foster pug siblings, sleeping soundly. Hotrod has medication for back pain; although his foster mom hasn’t seen his back bother him.

Due to his jumping abilities, Hotrod’s ideal home will have a tall, fenced yard with at least one other friendly, canine playmate, or if he will be solo, have at least one person home most of the time to play and help him get plenty of exercise.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help us across multiple areas! If you are passionate about helping animals in need… If you have time, love, or a particular set of skills to share… We’d love to have you on our team!

We need helping hands, homes, and hearts in the following areas:

🐶 Fostering – Open your home to a pug in need!

🚙 Transport – Help get pugs safely to a clinic, their foster homes, or respite homes.

🩺 Vet Runners – Assist with getting pugs to/from vet visits.

🪩 Event Support – Help out at community & adoption events and fundraisers.

💻 Admin & Social Media – Help us stay organized and spread the word online.

YOU choose if you want to volunteer once a month, once a week, or more! Every minute makes a difference in the life of a rescued pug. Come be part of the joy of giving these pugs a second chance!

💘 Love is a Blind Pug 💘 Meet our eligible partially blind pugs (either blind in one eye or partially blind in both): Ariel, Burton, Butler, and Fanam. 🐾💞 These pugs may not see entirely too well, but they will know you care and will give you their best every day.

💜 Ariel: After years in a puppy mill, Ariel is finally loving life, getting to run free, chew bones, and making sure she knows where you are.

💙 Burton: This happy-go-lucky boy is all about toys, walks, and making friends. Burton’s also a pro cuddler and a quick learner.

💛 Butler: This confident senior has a love for snuggles, toys, and strolls in the sunshine in his sling carrier. He’s ready for a home where cuddle time is a priority.

💖 Dior: She did not come to play (but she does love playing). Dressed to impress, with a personality that will do the same, this outgoing girl navigates her world confidently.

💛 Mustang: A laid back boy with the exterior of a gremlin. Blindness does not slow him down when it comes to pouncing on his favorite toys and snuggling with his favorite people.

Five-year-old Glitsey is a gentle, optimistic, and adventurous fawn-apricot beauty with the softest coat and sweetest face. She’s the perfect balance of cuddle buddy and walking partner and loves curling up on the couch or happily trotting by your side on a stroll. She loves car rides and will wait by the car in the garage to remind you when it’s time for the next adventure. We love a girl who knows what she wants! 😎

Glitsey is house-trained, crate-trained, and polite at mealtime. Because she’s missing some teeth, she needs her food softened and prefers cozy pillow-corner “chews” over toys. She’s easygoing around other dogs, curious but polite toward cats, and would do well in a home with adults or possibly older children.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, Glitsey is your girl. ✨💛
