argest pug rescue organizations in the United States having rescued and placed over 8,500 pugs. Veterinary care is our biggest expense averaging $220,000 a year. All pugs rescued are taken immediately to the vet where they are examined, tested and treated for parasites, infections, vaccinated, sterilized, and microchipped before being placed in a foster or permanent home. DFWPRC is an all-volunteer, foster-based organization — there are no paid positions. We do not have a staging area to hold our rescue pugs. We depend on the generosity of our volunteers to provide foster homes until permanent homes can be located. You can help to promote our mission and be a part of this exciting volunteer opportunity. 5-year-old Karina is a laid-back, affectionate beauty with one very important (self-given) job: making sure her human is never alone. Bathroom break? She’s there. Couch time? She’s already claimed your lap. Netflix marathon? She’s got the snacks covered (well… she wishes).

This sweetheart is house-trained as long as you keep an eye on her signals, sleeps in her crate (though she’d prefer your bed), and eats with enthusiasm just like any pug worth her treats! She isn’t much into toys or playing with other dogs, but she’s polite with them. What she really wants is you!

Karina would love a calm home where her person is around most of the time and would be perfectly content as an only pug. She hasn’t been around children or cats in her foster home, but she’d thrive with adults who appreciate a constant, cuddly shadow.

5-month-old Benito is a playful and curious velcro-pug who loves nothing more than curling up with you while you work. He’s full of puppy energy, always ready to bounce into a game, join a pug pile, or sneak off with a toy.. or even a shoe if you aren’t watching! 👀

Benito is still perfecting his house training and leash skills, but he’s crate-trained for naps and nighttime. He LOVES food (typical pug) and may guard his bowl a little, so mealtimes are best with supervision.

This little guy adores other dogs, is curious about cats, and would do great with older kids who don’t mind a little puppy teething. Benito needs a home where someone has time to play with him and help guide him through his puppy stage - bonus points if there’s another friendly canine playmate in the house!

Fun, cuddly, and full of personality, Benito is ready to wiggle his way into your heart!

Bernie is a 1-year-old, laid back, sweet boy who can be shy at first when meeting new people and dogs. He is coming out of his shell (just look at his pose!) and has already made great progress and now cuddles with the other pugs and is exceptionally loving, patient and gentle with his foster family’s 1-year-old daughter.

Bernie is house-trained, eats politely at mealtime, and walks well on a leash. He loves all toys, especially Yak bones, and sleeps in the bed with his humans.

Bernie would thrive in a patient home with a loving family who will let him set the pace and celebrate his every step forward. He would do well with respectful children, and could be an only dog or with a calm, friendly dog who could help show him the ropes.

If you are looking for a good-natured squishy companion, Bernie might be the pug for you!

4-year-old Billie is a gentle, affectionate and laid-back girl who lives for snuggle time with her humans. A true Velcro-pug, she is happiest when right by your side. She can be a little shy at first, but quickly warms up and shows her sweet, confident side.

Billie enjoys chewing on soft stuffed toys, is house-trained, crate-trained, and a polite eater but sometimes curiosity gets the best of her when it comes to other dogs’ bowls. She gets along well with other dogs, prefers to snuggle with them over play, and walks great on a leash. She sleeps soundly in either a crate or her human’s bed.

She would thrive in a loving home with adults or children, and she’d be just as happy as an only dog or with a friendly canine companion.

2-year-old Latte is a smart, affable, fawn gentleman pug mix with a heart full of love and a strong desire to please. He is happiest when close to his person, either curled up for a nap or following you around the house.

Latte is eager to learn, already mastering commands like “down,” “wait,” and “come,” and he adjusts quickly to new routines. Latte is house-trained, crate-trained, and a polite eater—though like any pug, he loves his meals! His favorite treasure? A little white stuffed dog toy that he proudly carries around and sometimes sleeps with at night.

He walks perfectly on a leash, is learning fetch, enjoys a bit of light tug-of-war, and loves running after toys. Latte would likely enjoy a small, playful dog buddy to match his young energy and would adjust well to living with children. He would also do well as an only dog with someone who is home often to keep him mentally and physically stimulated.
