And as far as sustainable kitchen towels, this is the standard for kitchen towels. And by a local farm wife in Her mid 80’s, these are large cotton dish towels, hand embroidered, with a cereal box cut to fit the fold perfectly and then the towel is wrapped in a see through bag. Top secret source. We use these in our vingar aging process to joyfully cover the aging vinegar under the snap on lid.

For linen clothing articles, we always prefer European produced linen for quality and durability. There are two very different methods used in manufacturing linen yarn. We are deeply involved with sustainable fiber at Nana Cardoon. This Kurdish pillow is from a collection of a friend who gathered Greek, Turkish, Kurdish, and French pieces in the 70’s and 80’s. This piece was undoubtedly a grain storage bag. In cleaning the bag, the vibrant cookie of the yarn used was exposed, and a closer look into the weave occurred. We love sharing the stories of these things with students at Nana Cardoon. One can discover a glimpse into the intention, the care, the era of the weaver and the culture.

Our Weck Jars have arrived. The six straight sided Weck Jars are perfect for your sourdough and I’ll have those with me at upcoming markets, currently Stoneboat CSA on Tuesdays and Adelante Mujeres Farmers Market on Wednesdays. Now there’s a thought: baking for flavor, texture, and nutrition with a variety of flours. This is the 2014 1st edition of the legendary award winning author . This book belongs in every bakers reference library. In an interesting turn of marketing craziness that developed over the last 15 years, the term ‘gluten-free’ was added to successive printings after the original. There, I’ve said it. Celiac issues aside, let the grain, seed, nut, corn, sorghum, rice, oat, teff, coconut, and nut flours shine in identity and flavor. I’m fortunate enough to have met a young baker who is both vegan and gluten free. She leads with a story about the flour, the sweetener, and the foraged fruit toppings and her pastries are delicious! Megan I adore your work!
