It’s been brought to our attention that the Save This Life microchip company has went out of business, and has removed their database from the national microchip registry.

So, what does this mean? If your pet has a microchip registered through this company and gets lost, your contact information is no longer accessible.

If your pet’s microchip number starts with 991 or 900164, it is possibly a Save This Life microchip. You can use the AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup tool to check the status of your pet’s microchip: https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/

If you find your pet’s microchip is a Save This Life microchip, it can be registered through another company without having to have another chip placed. The company we use and recommend is: petlink.net

If you need any help with this matter, or need us to scan your pet for its microchip number, please feel free to give us a call!

After scanning lost pet, enter the number into the microchip registry tool to search for the manufacturer of the chip.

An example of why we tell you to use your flea and tick preventatives year round!

Just found this teeny-tiny tick crawling across my dog’s head… on December 28th!!! I’m sure there’s more on him, but being this size, it’s nearly impossible to find them. I can rest assured however, that his Nexgard will have any others killed off within 24 hours, which is under the amount of time that it takes for most tick-borne diseases to be transferred to your dog!

Last night we celebrated the holidays together by doing watercolor paintings of our pets! Our wonderful neighbors and friends at Luna's Coffee, Wine & Butterfly Cafe provided us with a space to use and food and drink to nourish us after a long day, while Southern Drawl Arts helped us tap into our artistic side! A great time was had by all! Merry Christmas!
