Hi! My name is Hei Hei! I am a young adult rooster! I was dumped off out in West County and found my way to a really nice flock to hang out with but the rooster that already lived there didn't think it was such a great idea for me to stay. The nice people that lived there brought me here to find my new flock. I am very nice and friendly too! If you have room in your coop for a really cool new rooster - please consider adopting me! I am here at the shelter and ready to go TODAY!!!!! Adoption donation to take me home!

I AM NOT PART OF THE RECENT RESUCE THAT JUST HAPPENED BUT STILL IN NEED OF A GOOD HOME!

Busy weekends are pretty common around here...the Mutts and Motors Car Show hosted by Coffin Motors at the Casino was a HUGE success thanks to owner, Nicoletta's hard work! While the event was in full swing our founder/director, Ruth, received a call from PA State Police about 40 animals being kept in a small enclosed trailer with no food, no water nor air flow/ventilation. Within a half hour of the call, all of the animals were in at our triage barn getting the care they needed by our wonderful member, Stephanie. The group of animals were from a "petting zoo/rescue" but were not being cared for properly hence the intervention of the Trooper. The animals consist of bunnies, Guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, goats, and geese. All of the animals have been surrendered to us and will hopefully be available for adoption by the end of this week once they are properly vetted. Gift cards to Tractor Supply, Amazon or monetary donations will help us tremendously to provide for this new group of needy and neglected animals. Prayers, positive vibes/wishes will go a long way too in their road to recovery! If you're interested in providing a home to any of these animals please reach out to [email protected] and let her know which ones you would be willing/able to add to your barnyard.

Adoption Requirements/Policies

You are applying for a minimum commitment of 10-15 years when you adopt a pet. Be sure you are willing and able to make the investment in time, finances, and training (average $1,000 annually) to properly care and maintain your new pet!

If you own your own home we will check to verify. If you rent/rent to own we will need the contact information for the property owner in order to verify that you are allowed to have a pet on the property. Please talk to your landlord about adopting as there may be breed and size restrictions that may apply.

If you have been employed for less than a year, you will be required to show proof of income!

We DO allow out of the area adoptions - however everyone living in the home as well as any dogs must come to the shelter to meet with the animal of interest to process your adoption! You will be required to provide us with proof of home ownership if you own your home - a copy of your deed, mortgage statement, or property tax form are all acceptable. We do not take deposits and/or put holds on the animals available for adoption and we do not ship our pets - adoption requires a face to face interview with a member of our staff and your personal interaction with the animal. There are no exceptions to this rule! A 24 hour meet and greet hold can potentially be placed on an animal of interest as long as your application has been pre-approved and there are no other applications pending on that specific animal (this hold only applies to out of area adopters and may exclude puppy adoptions)!!

Everyone including ALL children (if any) present in the home will be required to come in to meet with the animal of interest. Adoptions are based on the best possible fit for the new owner and animal. Adoptions are never done on a "first come/first serve basis". Your application may be approved or denied for any reason as we are trying to find the best fit possible in choosing lifelong homes. All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on their vaccinations. Basic Exams and Veterinary Care is provided for all animals in our care.

A "Meet and Greet" is required if you have other pets in your home (dogs only). All pets in the home must be Spayed/Neutered and up to date on at least their Rabies vaccines in order to be considered to adopt! It is HIGHLY recommended that your dog/s also be up to date on the Bordetella ( Kennel Cough) Vaccine in order to help prevent them from contracting kennel cough as it is an airborne virus that is prominent here at the shelter. Please consult with your Veterinarian and/or call the shelter if you have questions.

We do not refund adoption fees or reimburse for expenses. Any expenses related to owning a pet are solely the responsibility of the new owner beginning when the animal leaves the shelter. This includes, but is not limited to adequate food, shelter, and veterinary care.

In November of 2023 we assisted the PA State Police where we removed 137 live bunnies (there were over 300 on the property). Those still alive were suffering from parasite overloads, upper respiratory conditions, broken limbs and more. We've adopted out almost all of them (24 still available)...BUT...in August 2024, Miles and his family adopted Amara. It was love at first sight for both of them. Well...talk about a success story!!!!! Miles took Amara to his the Chautauqua County 4H Fair in Dunkirk, NY where she took BEST FEMALE DWARF RABBIT! This bunny was left to die in a literal rabbit hell hole...and is now the love of her little boy's life! Congratulations, Miles and Amara! We are so proud of you both but mostly thankful for your love and dedication!
