Meet Dougie! We have had the privilege to welcome Dougie into our daycare program!

A message from the owner:
“I am so happy to have found Barkmore!! Each time we take Dougie to daycare he comes home a better dog. After checking out several facilities close to home I felt Barkmore was a better fit and it has been so worth the drive from Cleveland. I rescued him at 3 months old after he was abandoned in a campground and left to fend for himself. I couldn’t leave him there and wouldn’t take him to the shelter so I brought him home to foster in hopes I could find him a good home. I don’t have any resources to make this happen and now I need help with this. My husband and I are an older couple with health conditions that make us not the right home for Dougie as he grows up. He needs people who can play with him. I will be having major surgery in August and we plan to board him during my surgical dates. But I’m really concerned about him during my recovery as I won’t be able to handle him then.”

Dougie is a 7 month old Husky Mix, fully vetted-all shots, not yet neutered, current on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. He’s house trained, sleeps in his crate at night and is good with our 9 rescued house cats. He’s friendly and playful, good with other dogs. Not aggressive, does not resource-guard food or toys. Not afraid of thunder or fireworks.

A business owner & a stray 🐾

We wanted to tell everyone about a love story between a business owner & a stray.

Early this year in February, we were brought Margo. Margo was living a life in a pen that she would sometimes escape & roam around a neighborhood & busy road. She was so skinny when we first saw her, very shy, but very sweet. We knew we needed to nourish her with food & love! The staff cared for her for the month of February to ensure her safety & well being. We posted videos & pictures of her availability for adoption but no one was interested.

Our business owner Heather had dealt with the loss of her pup & she was missing paw prints on her heart while Margo was missing human hands on hers. Both Heather & Margo needed a companion so in the beginning of March, they both chose each other. Heather brought Margo to her home to do a test run to see how she would behave in a home environment & the first night together was exactly what they both needed. A business owner & a stray sleeping peacefully together, this would be their forever.

Margo started to gain weight, get the zoomies, meet Heathers family members & friends, get her nails done, and most importantly got to experience love & care for the first time ever as a normal pup.

We’re so happy they both got a happy ending! 🐾💕
