Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs.

Paws4Survival is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs. We provide veterinary care, shelter, and socialization in a daycare facility to prepare these dogs for adoption in the New York and New England area. Our strategic plan focuses on the town of Arroyo in the Southeastern part of the island, however we always help with pleas from l

ocal rescuers. Within Arroyo, there are two beach areas, Playa Chiropolis and Malecon in which we work to keep the dogs safe from animal control. Our volunteers provide basic shelter, food and water and care is provided until an opening in our program is available. Dogs that are not candidates for our program are captured for spay/neuter and returned to the beach to live under our care.

When Covid hit, Scituate Animal Shelter stepped up to help us with our Puerto Rican dogs and cats.
Last week we had an opportunity to send dozens of dogs and they took 6 dogs from us. We are so grateful for their continued support. Two of our volunteers also volunteer there so when they have extra donations they always bring them by. We are so thrilled for this amazing partnership, Amanda & team rock! So check out their page. This is Ruby. A month ago, Ruby had lived for two years in an abandoned home in Puerto Rico until neighbors went to the court system and they were sentenced to vacate and be put back on the street.

This is where we are asking for your help:

Ruby needed an emergency bladder stone surgery that was $2,000 this week. Until fosters could pick up the pups and transporting them last week plus boarding was another 2,100 dollars.
We are now feverishly fighting for a kitten with FIP. Our account took a hit of about 5k in 5 days. Any and all support would be beyond helpful. 🙏🏼

🐾 Meet Tonita! 🐾

This sweet 4-year-old girl comes to us all the way from Puerto Rico through our friends at Save a Sato. Tonita is settling beautifully into her foster home and has quickly captured everyone’s hearts, especially her human foster brother, who she adores spending time with.

Tonita is the definition of a well-mannered lady. She has perfect table manners, and her calm and easygoing nature makes her a joy to have around. Coming from a shelter, Tonita is p*e pad trained and now learning about the joys of going outside! And while a little unsure of being out there, she’s making great strides learning how to walk on a leash and relax in the backyard.

Tonita’s foster mom says she’s a great girl who loves couch surfing and gently takes treats. She would benefit from a family who could give her some much needed exercise and leash/command training. Tonita wants to learn and please :)

While living with two other dogs right now, Tonita doesn’t pay them much attention, so she would be happy to be your one and only!

Tonita is ready to share her love with a forever family who will cherish her gentle spirit for many years to come. Could that be you?

FOSTER NEEDED for Sweet Zoe!

Meet Zoe – our gorgeous 3 year old calico queen who’s full of love, personality, and lots of conversation. Zoe is a chatty, curious, and affectionate girl who loves to explore her surroundings and curl up for snuggles. She’s a real people-cat who thrives on connection and companionship.

Zoe also happens to have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), which means she needs a very specific diet to stay healthy and comfortable. She does best on Hill’s Prescription Diet z/d, and it’s super important she sticks to this food only.

We’re urgently looking for a foster home that can accommodate her unique needs:

* A loving, low-stress environment
* Someone who can commit to feeding her her special diet and keeping an eye on her health
* Experience with special-needs cats is a plus, we'll support you!

We provide supplies and support, you provide the love and safe space, until she finds her forever home

✨ Meet Lilah ✨

Lilah - a 7.5-month-old Lab/Sato mix - was one of the lucky pups flown to safety last week just before the worst of hurricane season hits Puerto Rico. She’s now safe in New Canaan, CT, and finally learning what it feels like to be loved.

Lilah is about 25 lbs of pure sweetness, with the softest coat, soulful eyes, and a heart that just wants to trust. She’s shy at first, especially around men, but once she feels safe — the snuggles begin. She’ll curl up beside you, follow you from room to room, and quietly soak in every ounce of love you give.

Lilah adores other dogs and lights up around furry friends. Her playful puppy energy shines brightest when she has a buddy to romp with, so she’d thrive in a home with another playful dog or regular playdates. She’s also wonderful with kids — curious, gentle, and full of love. She’s still learning the ropes (like leash walking and house training), but she’s so eager to please and already making amazing progress.

All Lilah wants is a family who will be patient, kind, and ready to show her that the world can be safe. In return, she’ll give you the kind of loyal, unconditional love only a rescue dog can offer. 🐾 Could you be her forever? 💛

Meet this heartthrob Sogu, as a tripod and only having one eye he is the sweetest boy rescued off the streets of Albania by a wonderful couple who nursed him back to health. Sogu began heartworm treatment from his rough life on the street but we have no doubts he will be loved, adored and settled before we know it ❤️🐾

~FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP~

We’ve been talking a lot about the 45 dogs that are coming up from Puerto Rico… but now it’s the cats’ turn.

On August 22nd, 18 cats and kittens will be flying in from Saving Sage in Miami, FL, thanks to our amazing partners at Wings of Rescue. These precious felines are looking for a soft place to land and that’s where YOU come in.

We urgently need foster homes to step up and give these kitties the love, care, and safety they need while they wait for their forever families. Whether you're set up for a playful litter of kittens or a sweet solo adult, there’s a cat coming who needs *you*.

Fostering is short-term.
Medical is covered.
