Pets Alive WNY Formerly known as Buffalo Humane, Pets Alive WNY expanded to Niagara County in 2011

Our mission is to promote and protect the health, safety, and welfare of pets and people by taking in and placing homeless companion animals, encouraging and supporting spay/neuter, providing community outreach to ensure proper animal stewardship, and promoting rational and effective animal care and control policies at all levels of government.

This amazing couple (who rescued, vetted and adopted 3 other kitties through our organization!) just adopted sweet little Poppy! 🎉🩷
Poppy was rescued from a farm with a suspected eye injury. It turns out she has a deformed eyelid that was chronically scraping against her eye! 😧 After a successful surgery to correct the eyelid, she can now rest easy in her loving forever home! 💞 Yay, Poppy! 😊

🚨 It’s — and this is Yoda’s story!

Twice returned 💔 Both times through no fault of his own 😭
First, he swallowed a mouse toy and his owner surrendered him on his deathbed rather than take him to the vet! 😞 We rushed him into emergency surgery and saved his life! 🩷

The second time, his people divorced. They chose to keep the dog, but not Yoda 😿
Now… we won’t pretend Yoda’s perfect! In fact, he’s a bit of a menace in the most hilarious way! 😈 He climbs people like trees and drapes himself around your neck like a fuzzy scarf! 😸 When he’s feeling ignored, he’ll gently knock things off tables—and he somehow always chooses the one breakable thing in the room! 🏺
But here's the thing: Yoda still deserves love! 💓

He deserves someone who sees his quirks as charm, who won’t toss him aside when things get inconvenient, and who will commit to him the way he’s always been ready to commit to his people! 💕

Sometimes, the saddest stories are told without words...just one look into Millie's beautiful, soulful eyes and you’ll see it 🥺 This sweet 6-year-old girl was handed over to a rescuer during a TNVR mission. While out trapping feral cats, a neighbor came out with Millie in their arms and said they no longer wanted her. Just like that 😭

What's even sadder is this beautiful girl doesn't have a mean bone in her body! She harbors no ill will toward people, despite the fact that all they've done so far is let her down 😞 All she wants is love ❤️

At the time of his rescue, he'd spent his entire 10 years on the street of Niagara Falls 💔 He only trusts a few people and we're not sure that he'll ever be comfortable enough around strangers to be adoptable 🥺

But we know one thing for sure: he deserved better! He deserved a roof over his head, clean water, a full bowl and a soft place to sleep 💤 He deserved not to have to fight for every scrap of food or every moment of safety 🙏

When he came to us, he also needed a dental- badly. His mouth was in rough shape. Even though we don't know if he'll ever be adoptable, we didn't hesitate. He got the procedure because his comfort and health matter, no matter what the future may hold.

When little Stitch came to us, he was struggling just to breathe 😿 This tiny kitten had already endured multiple bouts of pneumonia, countless vet visits, extensive lab work, and even trips to a specialist. It wasn’t easy—for him or for us.

But because of your support, we were able to say yes to the long road ahead. Yes to diagnostics! Yes to treatment! Yes to giving Stitch a fighting chance! 🙏

💙 He’s still being closely monitored in his loving foster home, and we’re hopeful that his toughest days are behind him. Stitch is playing, purring, and acting like the happy little catten he was always meant to be! 🥰 And we’re holding onto the hope that soon, he’ll find the forever family who will love him for the rest of his life! 💞

The truth is: we couldn’t have done this without you!
