SAFE. MOONLIGHT IS SAFE. We pulled him this morning, and he is on his way to QT and we have a foster home pending. NOW...some accounting. This was an emergency save, and the board voted to activate the Ribbons Fund emergency option so we could keep him from loading. We were nowhere near having the full amount for his rescue despite some fabulous donations. Whenever we pull from the Ribbons fund, we have to replace what we take out so it will be there when we need it again.

SO.....imagine our amazement when we discovered a group of donations have come into Pay Pal but did not have an email notice of them! Holy cow. The amount was more than needed for Moonlight's save and so will be rolled over into the Ribbons Fund. Wow. The hearts of Morgan lovers are as strong and big as their love for the breed.

As soon as he is settled in, we will have him evaluated by a vet. He is available for adoption.

More great news. Aquarian Star Vision, aka Cassie, is moving to a foster home. What a lovely mare this is! Fosters are the backbone of our rescue and provide horses with an important place to land until their adoptive homes are found. We cannot thank them enough for all they do.

Happy happy news - Entertaining Society Maid aka Kate is going home! She has been adopted. Hurray!!!!!!!! We wish the best to this beautiful mare and her new family. Thank you to everyone who contributed to her rescue. This is why we do the things we do.

We look forward to updates on her upcoming adventures.

FRIDAY UPDATE. Roughie has been purchased by a private party. We are ending the fundraiser. Donors can request a refund of their donations by sending a request of this to [email protected]. Donations not requested for a refund will either go into the Ribbons Fund for emergency rescue or the general fund for care of our horses in boarding situations. If donors have a preference, they can let FM know in an email.

Lakota is a personable gelding who's now working well under saddle with 90 days completed. He has been out on trails alone and with a buddy. He does best with a buddy at this point. He gets his confidence from his rider and thus needs an experienced rider. This older gentleman is an ex-buggy horse and is working well and maintaining his good health with no additional supplements at the trainers. He ties, clips, bathes, loads, is good for the farrier, and tacks up well, and he'll stand still to be mounted. He was shown in halter all last summer at local shows, and was reserve champion. So, he's had lots of exposure with loud speakers, music, and even horses running loose. He can be turned out with mares, geldings or in a mixed herd. He also stalls well. No vices! No cribbing or weaving.

Full disclosure—Lakota can be hard to catch! Treats seem to help. He needs to trust his rider, otherwise a lot of confusing signals makes him anxious. Thus, he is not a husband or guest horse. Not recommended for a school horse. Not a horse for flipping. He needs to have his own person, and/or set of persons that he can trust, and then he'd be a nice trail horse or local show horse. It would be wonderful for him to find a home where someone can ride him and spend time with him to help him continue to grow.

Attention good people - we have a last minute save here. Pearls Colette goes through the Unadilla Sale TOMORROW. We have someone who can bid for us, up to our limit. If we can get her, we NEED A FOSTER for her ASAP. We cannot bid if we do not have a place for her to go. We will also be fundraising to cover the cost of her rescue, which we estimate will be $2,000 including purchase transport and vetting.

We know she was foaled in 2009 rides and drives. Located in New York.

Sparky is a sound horse that is broke to ride and drive. He has been driven recently but has not been ridden for approximately 6 months. He will ride without other horses, but he prefers to be with another horse when ridden. For this reason, he is not for a beginner rider. Sparky gets along with other horses. He has good ground manners and leads well although at times can be pushy, so it is not recommended that children lead him. He loves people and loves to be groomed. However, he can get nervous about clipping. He does not have any behavioral issues or vices although tends to be more timid than some. He loads fairly well in a step-up trailer. He is scared of water but once he is tied, he will tolerate a bath. He stands well and lifts all four feet for the farrier. Sparky is blind in one eye, but this has not affected his riding or driving. It is preferred that Sparky be turned out in a pasture with another horse or pony to have as a buddy. Board or live wire fencing is recommended.
