You ever have an itch where no matter how hard you scratch it just doesn't go away? Well poor Fluffy here had an itch so severe he gave himself a massive laceration! Fluffy had been struggling with a severe case of ear mites and no amount of wound care was going to stop him scratching until those creepy crawlies were out of his ear. His family was very concerned and wanted to help but like most of us, times are tough! Luckily thanks to our Feline Emergency Fund, a donation based fund, we were able to not only treat his ear mites, but completely clip, clean, and suture his self inflicted wound. Fluffy wasn't happy to go home with a cone on, but you could tell the almost immediate relief he felt in his ears.

Today wraps up our partnership with the helping them look at tick-borne pathogens in Humboldt county by providing free comprehensive blood testing to our clients. We collected over 300 samples for their study from both dog and cat patients. Dug, our office pup was the last collection. The information from these samples will now be interpreted and used by the researchers to help us better understand how tick-borne pathogens exist within our community.

Well you don't normally see a tailbone poking out and saying "hi" to the world! This cat was brought to us from a feral colony from Ukiah. The trappers mentioned they saw some type of tail injury, but it wasn't until the cat was sedated we truly saw the extent of the injury. Dr. Ott was able to proceed with a clean amputation, and the feral cat won't have too extreme of a recovery.
Thanks to all the donations towards the Feral Colony Fund for making this procedure possible!

Who remembers Mamma Joker? She was our cute stray that came in with a severe injury to her face. We are thrilled to update that she got her sutures out and will be going home this week! Normally, cats in the TNR program are returned back to where they were trapped after they are spayed. Our team here didn't want to turn this lady loose that quickly. Thanks to our donation based Feral Colony Fund, we were able to treat Mamma Jokers facial wound, foster her during her recovery, and now she gets to return to the easy life of being a porch cat!
It's thanks to our amazing community that makes these life saving procedures possible!

Two Rivers Pet And Wildlife Welfare Services is an amazing local rescue working to help create a more humane environment for the vastly underserved animals out on the 299 and surrounding areas.

Just last week we helped spay and neuter some feral cats they brought into town thanks to our Feral Fix Challenge.

They have recently rescued these pups from a very dire situation and they need some support. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the pups, gosh that little baby was cute and in good hands now!
