Pathways Home Animal Rescue finds great new homes for shelter, owner surrender, and stray animals. We are located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Pathways Home Animal Rescue helps reunite lost pets with their owners, but also rescues dogs from the County shelters to keep them from being euthanized. After receiving any necessary vet care and being altered, vaccinated, and microchipped, then we find loving homes for the dogs we've rescued from the County shelter, as well as for owner surrenders, and for strays when no owners are found. All of these wonderful little rescue dogs are waiting to meet you! Visit the adoptable dogs on our website at pwrescue.org. We are always in need of fosters, volunteers, and people to share our posts -- this is a tremendous help in finding homes for the dogs! You can apply to foster or adopt at pwrescue.org. Donations are also appreciated and welcomed because there are many times we help dogs who need more vet care than the usual spay/neuter. Your donations help a dog walk better, or remove a tumor that a previous owner should have removed, etc. You may donate by:

Meet Luna & Sadie! Nothing better than playtime!!!

This adorable mother-daughter duo is looking for a forever home together! This sweet pair came to Pathways after their owners were no longer able to care for them. They are doing wonderfully in their foster home and have quickly shown everyone just how special they are. Luna and Sadie are a wonderful combination — one part sass, one part sweetness, and 100% love.

If you're looking for a pair of girls who will keep you laughing, fill your home with love, and become your very best friends, Luna & Sadie may be the mother-daughter duo you've been waiting for!

They will need a home with a secure, fenced-in yard where they can safely run and play. No doggie doors, please! A home with a doggie door will only be considered if there is a secure, covered outdoor enclosure to protect them from potential predators while they are outside.

Both girls can be a little unsure of new people in their space and may bark when someone they don't know arrives. Neither has shown any aggression, and both are learning that new people can mean good things — especially when treats are involved! They will need adopters who are willing to give them a little patience and time as they get comfortable. Because both girls can be cautious with new people, their family will need to understand that they may take a little time to warm up. Once they trust you, though, you'll have two very special girls by your side.

Luna (mother)— aka Luna Lou, Lulu, Lu-natic, Louboutin, Lou-Boo & Big Mama!
Whatever you call her, one thing is certain: Luna is a BIG personality packed into one very lovable girl! Luna is a 6-1/2 year old, 16 pound Bichon/Poodle mix who is big, bouncy, and full of personality. She has the cutest bunny-hop run, loves doing her signature “spinnies,” and isn't afraid to let everyone know exactly what she thinks. This girl definitely has opinions — and she's not shy about sharing them!

Luna LOVES squeaky toys and can happily chew a Busy Bone into complete nonexistence. She can be a little protective of her special chewy treats, so she is happiest when she can enjoy her stash in peace. And while Luna may be a bossy babe, she is also a total cuddlebug! She will let you know when she wants to be picked up, and if she wants something, you might get a little stomp accompanied by a very determined huff. Yep… Luna has an attitude, and it's absolutely adorable.

Luna is hypothyroid and takes medication twice a day, but she makes pill time incredibly easy. Just put her medication in her food dish and she happily eats it right along with her kibble. She has already lost some of her extra weight, and with that weight loss has come even more of her fun-loving s***k!

When it comes to grooming, Luna has VERY strong opinions about baths! Consider yourself warned! Thankfully, she is perfectly fine with brushing and trimming and will patiently sit through her grooming. She is also good with nail trims when they are done slowly and gently.

And then there's Luna's legendary snore. Seriously… this girl could probably give a chainsaw a run for its money! Luna is funny, affectionate, spirited, cuddly, and completely unforgettable. She may need some patience when meeting new people, but once she knows you, you'll discover just how much love this big personality has to give.

Sadie (daughter) — Sweet, Playful & Full of Potential!
Sadie is 5-1/2 year old, 15 pound Bichon/Westie mix who is an absolute sweetheart with a gentle soul and a happy, playful personality. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, especially in her own space, and may bark at first. But give her a few treats, some gentle scratches, and a little time, and her curiosity quickly takes over. Once Sadie feels comfortable, she is beginning to ask for affection all on her own — and it is pretty darn adorable!

Sadie LOVES to play! Chewy toys, fetch, and the occasional game of tug-of-war are some of her favorite activities. She is wonderful with other dogs and enjoys being part of the action. She is gentle and respectful with the older dogs in her foster home and isn't possessive of her toys or food. Sadie also likes being near her people and may shed a few tears when left alone in her kennel. She is a people-loving girl who wants to know where her humans are! Sadie walks nicely on a leash and did great on an outing to Home Depot. Her first car ride without the other dogs made her a little shaky, but she handled her adventure well. She just needs patience and encouragement as she continues building confidence in new situations.

And this girl is SMART! Sadie is very treat-motivated, which should make training and learning new tricks lots of fun. She also has the cutest way of celebrating when she's excited — she'll sometimes stand up on her hind legs and give little “cheers” with her front paws!

Sadie is easygoing about grooming, too. Her first haircut was a breeze, and although she will let you trim her nails, she needs a little encouragement and patience. Baths aren't a big deal either — although thankfully, she hardly ever needs one!

Both dogs are up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. Their adoption fee as a pair is $500.00.

Meet Yoda — a 2½-year-old, 16-pound Terrier/Shih Tzu mix with adorable wild-child ears, a playful personality, and so much love to give.

Yoda is a sweet, sensitive little guy who can be shy when meeting new people. There’s one important thing his future family needs to understand: Yoda tends to choose one special person as “his person.” He will often bond with that person fairly quickly, but it can take him much longer to warm up to everyone else in the home.

He isn’t being stubborn or unfriendly. He simply needs time to learn that everyone is safe and that he can trust them. Once he does, he becomes incredibly loyal, affectionate, and devoted. When Yoda decides you’re part of his inner circle, you’ll have a best friend who truly loves being with his people.

Yoda is also a wonderful example of the 3-3-3 rule. Like many rescue dogs, he needs patience, consistency, and understanding while adjusting to a new home. His foster family has seen firsthand that although earning his trust takes time, it is absolutely worth the wait.

Yoda doesn’t need someone who expects him to trust everyone immediately. He needs someone who understands that the best relationships sometimes take a little time to build.

And once Yoda is comfortable, he’s ready for fun! He loves long walks, playing fetch, hiking, shopping trips, patio dining, and running around the yard with the zoomies. He’ll need a friendly dog buddy to play with and a secure fenced yard where he can safely explore and burn off some energy. No doggie doors, please, unless there is a secure covered enclosure outside. Yoda would also do best in a home without cats.

Yoda is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines. His adoption fee is $380, and he’s ready to find the family he’s been waiting for.

FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!!!

Tia is a 1.5-year-old, 50 pound “scruffy” Lab mix with a fun-loving spirit and a heart full of potential. She came to rescue when her owners could not be located, and now she’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will help her shine.

Tia can be a little cautious when first meeting new people or in new situations, but she warms up with patience and reassurance. Once she feels comfortable and trusts her person, she settles in nicely and does very well.

Tia’s playful, youthful energy is matched by her eagerness to please. She loves games like fetch, tug, and chase, and she’s highly treat-motivated—making her a wonderful candidate for continued training. Tia would truly thrive with an adopter who is excited to build a strong bond through positive, force-free obedience training. With her trusting personality and willingness to learn, she has all the makings of a fantastic companion.

Like many young dogs, Tia is still learning the ropes and will benefit from continued training and socialization to help her become her very best self. She’s not a “turn-key” dog, but for someone willing to invest a little time and guidance, the payoff will be an incredibly loyal and well-rounded companion.

While Tia has not been tested with cats, we recommend a home without them. She would do best with dogs her size or with confident dogs who can match her play style. Due to her large size (50 pounds), any children in the home should be at least 12 years old.

As a young Lab mix, Tia will need regular exercise to stay happy and balanced. She’ll enjoy daily walks, runs, and adventures beyond the backyard—and she would make an excellent hiking buddy!
She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. If you’re ready to invest a little time in training and a lot of love, Tia will reward you with endless fun, loyalty, and companionship.
