The City of Monroe Public Safety Department proudly highlights the significant role our team played in a recent large-scale drug seizure on northbound I-75.

During this incident, Michigan State Police Commercial Motor Vehicle conducted a traffic stop on a semi-truck within the city limits. City of Monroe Police K-9 Officer Smithers, along with trainee Officer Hammontree and our K-9 Apollo, responded to assist. Apollo was instrumental in the success of this stop, alerting officers first to the area where the narcotics were concealed within the vehicle, and then directly to the recovery of 71 kilos of co***ne.

This case exemplifies effective teamwork between agencies and the crucial impact of highly trained K-9 units in interdiction efforts. We remain committed to working alongside partners, such as the Michigan State Police , to keep our community safe and free from dangerous drugs.
