Storm. 2 week Board & Train. Considered to be aggressive. What he really is, is very unconfident. When a dog lacks confidence, that can turn into fear. When that turns into fear, the fear can lean towards aggression. Building a bond and trust in the dog requires pushing them through fear itself. Great work to our team and to Storm for trusting us and tackling fear head on! Can’t wait to see him after his follow ups!

From starting out living in downtown Detroit, to going to your first dog training interview, to starting our own company, to becoming the best hunting dog anyone has ever seen in a pitbull, to having a little human running around eating snacks with you LOL…

Our newest Board & Train Maple (Right) is working on her obedience with the old man and original gangster, Max! 😄 (Left). Maple is a 7 month old Lab who is half way through her 2 week Board & Training with us and she is doing very well even through all of the different levels of distractions we have been putting her through and testing her new skills. On Monday, Deputy Danny Greenwood of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and his K9 partner, Arlo, made a special guest appearance in Associate Professor Dan Wood’s Intro to Criminal Justice class. Deputy Greenwood spoke about his career path to the Sheriff’s Department's K9 Division and the specialty training he completed with Arlo.

Suspect K-9 Apprehension – Fleeing & Eluding

Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting the apprehension of a Fleeing and Eluding suspect that occurred on Southbound I-75 near Summit St. in Erie Township.

On Saturday, February 17, 2024 at approximately 3:05AM, Monroe County Central Dispatch was notified by Flat Rock Police that they were in pursuit of a dark in color Ford Fusion, southbound on I-75 coming into Monroe County. The vehicle was reported to have fled the scene of a traffic stop from Flat Rock PD officers and was traveling at high speeds. Deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded and began to set up along I-75.

As the suspect vehicle continued southbound on I-75 near Laplaisance, several Monroe County Deputies joined the pursuit to assist Flat Rock PD. Once near South Otter Creek Rd, Flat Rock PD terminated the pursuit after losing sight of the suspect vehicle, due to the high speeds.

Several minutes later, Monroe County Sheriff Deputy Austin Graham was checking the area and located the suspect vehicle parked on the right shoulder of southbound I-75 at the Summit St. overpass. Upon Deputy Graham pulling behind the vehicle, the male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot westbound into a wooded area. Responding Deputies and Michigan State Police Troopers set up a perimeter, while Monroe County Sheriff K-9 handler Deputy Danny Greenwood and his Police Service Dog “Arlo” were called to the scene. Shortly after Arlo was deployed, he located the suspect hiding in the area and he was taken into custody without any further incident.

The suspect, a 46-year-old male from South Lyon, was turned over to the custody of the Flat Rock Police Department, who arrested him on Fleeing & Eluding charges.

Her owners are eager to reach their goals that they have set for her and Belle sure is willing to please! She loves the attention, affection and excitement that comes with the process of training. Can’t wait to see where she’s at towards the end of her program! You got this Belle!

On Christmas Eve, Officer Greenwood gave us a call to surprise us with something awesome… Demonstrating the training that him and his K9 Arlo have been putting in! So proud of these guys! Arlo has been certified since June of 2023 and so far has 19 odors imprinted on him along with 5 apprehensions. Officer Greenwood and K9 Arlo aren’t just clients of ours, they are now our good dear friends that we enjoy having and love it when they stop in for a visit. Glad to have them both!
