Fayruz Tribute 📯

So Golden x Tom’s Tribute
2020 Chestnut JC Gelding

Everyone is always looking for that big, pretty, family safe gelding and well, I have him🙋‍♀️ Flame is such a cool guy! He’s more whoa than go and is husband safe/approved✅ When I say nothing bothers this horse, I mean nothing bothers this horse. He is so laid back and easy to have around! Flame stands a solid 16.1 and has all the chrome! He trail rides and will happily pack someone around the arena. He has a lovely step and I could see him making a beautiful over fences horse as well! Flame has also been started on the barrel pattern and shows lots of potential there as well. He is very forgiving and tolerates a beginner rider. No buck, bolt, bite, rear, kick or any silliness. He’s the same horse with a week off or if he was just rode the day before! No vices, quirks or bad habits. No maintenance, sound, and is an easy keeper! If you’re looking for a good all around type horse, your search ends here! This gelding is SO easy to have around with the best in your pocket type personality. I really can’t say anything bad about him!

Kid Justice x Storm and a Half
2021 Bay JC Gelding

This is an “adulting sucks” post🤣 I promised myself I’d pay off my hauling truck by the end of the summer so I didn’t have a vehicle payment and this dude needs to go in order to make that happen.

Everyone that’s been to my barn knows and loves Turtle…he’s probably the most chill guy I have. No vices, quirks, bad habits, etc. This guy is rock solid and you won’t find a hole in him! He is one of my personal horses and I’ve done all the patterning on him. He’s broke as one should be and is on track for November! If futurities aren’t your jam, he could be ready to enter in a month or two. Turtle is being hauled/exhibitioned and handles the chaos like an old pro. This guy screams rodeo horse prospect and has the moves to make a legit 1D horse! He’s gritty, athletic, smart, and very business minded. Turtle has an automatic style and hunts his turns. I’ve trail ridden him and used him for intermediate lessons as well. He is amateur/handy youth suitable not to mention close to bombproof. This is probably one of the most mature 4 yr olds I’ve had! While he is forgiving enough for a novice rider, he has the motor and athleticism to make it all the way and I believe he’d do best in capable hands to take him to the top. I could also see this guy being super cool in the rope horse pen! Sound, no maintenance, and easy to maintain. Same horse with a week off or just ridden the day before. Safe, sane, solid, talented, and pretty-the whole package especially for someone balling on a budget! I won’t be sad if he gets to stay on my trailer for awhile and would be more than happy to keep him in my program for his new people! He does have a cosmetic scar on his left hock that does not affect him. PPEs are welcome at buyer’s expense!

Why do we start colts in halters???

There’s varying schools of thought here but this is why we do it🙋‍♀️

Everything is new when you start one from the saddle to live weight on their backs. Since they’re already used to halter pressure, it takes some anxiety away. If we add a bit in with all the other new sensations it’s easy for them to get overwhelmed! All ground work is done in a halter so they already know how to steer, stop, and back up before we ever swing a leg over. After we get them walk, trot, loping confidently we will then introduce and snaffle and move them onto the next stage of development

Upcoming sale horses💃

1. 5 yr old gelding. Easy, fun, and classy! More whoa than go and a fantastic beginner/family mount! He is an absolute looker with the best personality! Very very quiet and easy to have around! Could easily go any direction! Sound, no maintenance. 10k

2. 4 yr old gelding. Currently being hauled and exhibitioned! On track for November and would be a spectacular horse for an amateur wanting to dip their toes in the Futurity pen and rodeo after! Very easy to haul, ride, and have around! 1D/rodeo potential and easy on the eyes! Definitely a horse for those balling on a budget! Sound, no maintenance. 1x,###

3. 10 yr old mare. Safe, sane, solid, finished. I sold this mare a few years ago but her kiddo has unfortunately lost interest! Junior high school rodeo mount deluxe! Barrels, poles, goats, breakaway. Will be hitting the rodeo road with me while I have her listed! Barefoot, sound, and no maintenance! Ready to go win on! 1x,###

These guys will all be posted over the course of the next month but if one catches your attention message me and I’d be more than happy to send details/show them to you before they officially hit the market!

Let’s talk Futurity colts and why pasture riding is a crucial part of out program👏

1. I expect my colts to be broke in and out of the arena so we pasture ride extensively. If they can handle cars, bicycles, wildlife, people, dogs etc that they may encounter out of the arena odds are they can handle any unexpected eventualities in the arena

2. They learn to handle all kinds of terrain and navigate hills, holes, etc. Knowing how to handle any kind of footing is especially crucial if they are headed to the rodeo pen after the futurities! I find my horses are so sure footed and always know where their feet are by doing this. Not to mention it helps loads with coordination!

3. I breeze mine out in the pasture. They learn to run without the constraints of fences or arena gates. It’s works wonders for opening one up without having to kick on them!

4. We train for soundness. My open and rodeo horses work out in the pasture at least 2x a week through the summer. Working hills is a great low impact way to build up lungs and muscle! It also gives their brains a break from the arena and I find my horses really look forward to pasture rides! I want my horses to stay sound for the long term and that means treating them like a seasoned horse from a young age

That being said our colts are out are pasture for the rest of the year until the weather stops us! Shy Guy handled his first time out like a champ and we’ll be introducing the rest to it throughout the week!

I said I wasn’t starting colts anymore but I caught the bug again😆 This little mare is so fun and has a phenomenal mind!...

The HGR team does it again! A huge thank you to Shining P Productions for an amazing buckle series as always!

Snuggler may be off to her new family now, but she won enough to snag me the 2D buckle for the series! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to start that mare on the pattern and season her…I can’t wait to see all she accomplished with her new person!

Another big thank you to the Brown family for sharing Tiller Fuel with me last week! I sold Snuggler before the series was over and he helped me reach my attendance requirement to make this possible!

We are SO proud of this kiddo! She has been working her b***y off and ran a new PR in this arena last night! They get better and better with every run and we are so grateful to be a part of their journey!
