Sexually frustrate your c@nn@bis plants and grow a more potent THC flower?
C@nn@bis is dioecious, meaning it is a plant that includes distinguishable female and male plant groups with respective reproductive organs. Female c@nn@bis plants will grow calyxes/bracts that group into buds and produce the resin-secreting, intoxicating flower we have all come to love. In contrast, male c@nn@bis plants do not grow flowers but instead develop pollen sacs for breeding seeds. And to take it one step further, c@nn@bis plants can even be hermaphroditic, designed to save the species in hard times, and can form both female and male s*xual reproductive organs, depending on environmental stressors and/or genetic tendencies.
If the female c@nn@bis plant produces the prize buds we strive to grow for, then how exactly do we s*xually frustrate this plant? And how can this increase potency?
When we isolate female c@nn@bis plants, this, in turn, will s*xually frustrate the plant and will help to produce more potent c@nn@bis flower. When female plants are pollinated, they halt resin, and therefore THC production and begin producing seeds. In pre-flower weeks 6-8, when the plant starts to reveal its gender, and you can identify the s*x organs visually, removing male plants from the room, including any plants with spontaneous hermaphroditic developments, will stop pollination in nearby female plants. Preventing pollination and s*xually frustrating the female plant will ramp up its natural biological drive to reproduce. Instead of putting its energy into creating seeds when pollinated, extra energy meant for reproduction will be re-focused on maximizing calyx/bract growth and in turn, increasing resin production, i.e., increasing cannabinoid and terpene potency.
